Hallmark Christmas in July 🎄 comfort & joy ❤️

Yes, I saw that news last night. I don't get GAC either in my Spectrum Cable package. I was thinking about maybe just paying for the Frndly TV app during the Christmas season and then cancelling in January. But, Danica's first movie with GAC will be in January. If some of my favorite Hallmark stars all move exclusively over to GAC, that puts a real crimp getting the app for a couple months & cancelling. :(

However, Danica doing mystery movies might not be part of her exclusivity contract.

To fill everyone else in on the GAC Family channel and Danica McKeller:

Last January, the long time CEO of the Hallmark channels stepped down as CEO. Months ago, he acquired two cable channels and re-branded them as part of GAC Media. One of his goals is to make more Christmas movies and family entertainment shows just like err, similar to what he built up on Hallmark.

He was able to, at least, bring over some of his original ideas with him to GAC. The Home & Family TV show hosted by Cameron Mathison and Debbie Matenopoulos, as well as the rest of the cast, are moving over to the GAC Living channel, after it was cancelled on Hallmark. :teleport: It may be called something else on GAC and some stuff may change. But, everyone knows it's the same TV show.

The spinoff series of When Calls the Heart, called When Hope Calls is moving to GAC Family. Lori Loughlin & Daniel Lissing will be on it.

The GAC Christmas movies were finally announced, listing all the cross-over stars: Cameron Mathison, Susie Abromeit, Nick Bateman, Rukiya Bernard, Cindy Busby, Sara Canning, Dillon Casey, Torrance Coombs, Trevor Donovan, Brendan Fehr, Jennie Garth, Maggie Lawson, Jen Lilley, Sarah Lind, Daniel Lissing, Jessica Lowndes, Matthew MacCaull, Chad Michael Murray, Sam Page, Merritt Patterson, Christopher Russell, Becca Tobin, Jill Wagner and Dewshane Williams.

Here's the GAC Christmas movie schedule:
https://1.bp.blogspot.com/. . . GACFamilyMovies2021.jpg

Almost all of them also do, or have done Lifetime movies too. So, it's no biggie for any of them to decide to do yet a third network's Christmas movie, too. :teleport: In fact, the more movies, the merrier for everyone.

Note, the 4 top Hallmark actresses are missing from that GAC list: Candace Cameron Bure, Lacey Chabert, Alicia Witt, and Danica McKeller.

A few days ago, after Danica's Christmas movie aired on Hallmark, it was finally announced that she signed a deal with GAC Media to star in and executive produce four new films, beginning with The Winter Palace (premiering in January 2022.)

According to Deadline.com: "Under the GAC Media deal, which extends through 2023, she will do rom-coms and holiday films for GAC Media exclusively.

Deadline also mentions, "McKellar recently guest starred on ABC comedy Home Economics and is set as a judge on Fox’s upcoming unscripted competition series Domino Masters, set for early 2022." GAC Media doesn't have any exclusivity for her to do those types of projects. As well, she can still decide to do an episode of the reboot of The Wonder Years for ABC if they want her.

The ability for Danica to be an executive producer of her own movies is probably what sealed the deal with GAC. She gets to have some real creative control and input over her movies now.

However, the fact that mystery movies were not specifically named too, only rom-coms, (as far as we know,) maybe she was able to work out as part of the deal to still be on Crossword Mysteries with HMM? :scratchin I hope so. I really liked that series.

But, HMM may have already decided to cancel her series on their own. Or Danica decided to leave before they decide to "go in another direction," leaving her without any deal even with GAC.

Both Eric Mabius and Jesse Metcalfe mentioned in separate interviews that their own futures with Hallmark are uncertain. Jesse said on ETonline.com, "Obviously, I have Hallmark to thank for that opportunity but a lot of changes have happened over at Hallmark and everyone's in a bit of a holding pattern waiting to see which direction they go, which TV shows and movies they continue to support and which ones end up on the chopping block." Although, the amount of times they aired his movie, A Country Wedding, in the last several months on both channels, I think Hallmark is indicating to him they want to keep him.

Alicia Witt isn't doing a Christmas movie this year with either company. And it's likely we may not hear anything about Candace or Lacey until they either pen a deal and their Hallmark movies air first. With it now public that Danica has executive producer rights, that may really have to be part of the negotiation packages with GAC for the other two actresses now, too.

As far as other GAC exclusivity contracts, only Cameron Mathison, Susie Abromeit, who will star in four original films and host GAC Family Original Movie Nights, and Trevor Donovan, (no idea what he's doing,) have known exclusivity deals now with GAC Media.
Thank you so much for this detailed information! It is really helpful and I'm excited to see what happens. Last night I checked and I do have GAC, so I've set the DVR and will get to peek at their movies in the upcoming weeks.

I really only watch the Hallmark Channel during the Christmas season and I have a few of the premiere movies on my DVR to watch as it gets into November. One thing I'm remembering that bothers me... Hallmark changed their sound engineering or something, the sounds are more muffled, the music is loud, and it's sometimes hard to hear the dialogue. This is the only TV station that does it 🤷‍♀️

The "interesting phenomenon" I saw over on Facebook was that hundreds of people complained about anyone who said anything negative about the movies, or the shake up at Hallmark internally, or about not liking a specific actor/actress, or saying they thought a script/story was weak, or they just didn't like it (for a number of reasons.) ALL those opinions were viewed as being negative and that people were being nasty, raining on others ability to come to the FB group and have it as their (totally) happy place. :cloud9: Every movie is equally wonderful, every actor/actress is equally great. No one should have alternate opinions to that. No one should express those as that would be a downer. "It's another Hallmark Christmas movie. That should be enough," was a big sentiment. (I think most of the threads where people did express their "negative" opinions got deleted.)
That's a typical FB phenomenon. If a page is set up to like (some subject) you can only write about how great it is. No dissenting opinions.

One of the reasons I don't do FB.

I'm guessing you are on the same group as I am. OMG do those people that want all roses and buttercups not realize they are just as irritating as those they complain about? "There is enough going on in the world, I'm didn't come here to read negative posts" etc. I've come to the conclusion that these people aren't on any other forums and have no idea what goes on in the internet world. The devil in me would love to send them a link to some of the infamous threads here to show them real life : )

Good. I know I want to hear people's real opinions on the movies. :thumbsup2 (And yes, I watch the same movies over and over sometimes, for no other reason than just because of the actors, too. :cloud9: )

A previous person mentioned the Hallmark Christmas movies Facebook group. I completely forgot they have a group. I thought about joining a few years ago, but I don't know any of them. Whereas, I know most posters here. And we've had a few sporadic Hallmark threads here in the past. I prefer to talk to us here and kept this thread going, even though, as we all knew, there wasn't much to talk about (post Christmas,) other than, "New movie this week." As the Christmas season gets underway again this thread

While over on FB, I watched an interesting phenomenon. When the new Hallmark movies premiered last weekend, there were several posts with people giving their opinions on the movies. While, yes, there probably were some people who were just pot-stirrers posting, hating on Hallmark. :stir: More often, I read people giving their opinions and following up with their reasoning: "I thought the script was weak." "Same old story re-hashed, can't stand another A Christmas Carol ghost story." "It was slow, but I stuck with it, as I love the actors. I'll watch anything they are in. In the end, I was happy watching the movie." "It was way over the top in the beginning, but got better later on. . ." etcetera.

To ME, critiques like that are helpful, even if they are personal opinion. They may help me decide if I want to watch a movie after all, or to stick with one as various people said it will get better. Or my tastes may be similar. I learn my suspicions when seeing the preview may be correct. I personally can't stand Dickens' A Christmas Carol, no matter how well done a new movie of that story may be. :headache: Sometimes, I like an over the top comedy - but have to be in the mood for it, Sometimes the acting just went too much over the top period - or too badly acted to make the movie salvageable, in my opinion. Sometimes, I just don't think a particular pairing of the actor and actress had chemistry, etc., and other people think so too. So it wasn't just me.

I like knowing other people may think that way too, or not. I think we all have valid opinions that are unique to each of us. Even when someone says, "I just couldn't get into it. I can't give any specific reason why," is valid. I have that experience, too.

I was hoping to read reactions of the GAC movies over there. If it turned out that a majority had the same opinion, either liking them and consider them worth watching and paying for the app, or not, then I can mention that here and people can still decide for themselves with that info. But, somehow, I think almost everyone there will like all the GAC movies regardless. ;)

Makes me glad for our thread here. This is the DIS. WE have opinions. For better and worse at times, we aren't afraid to express them. :thumbsup2  :duck:. We don't have to be sheeple, all having the same opinion. 🐑 🐑

I said this last year in the first post: with some 80+ new Christmas movies to choose from, (along with the old favorites we want to watch,) in a matter of several weeks, it can be a positive thing to get a heads up when some/many of us state we like or dislike specific movies. Some movies we will like or love. That movie may get moved up to the top of others' viewing lists. Some we will feel meh, or a hard pass on. Those may get crossed off. :hyper2: popcorn:: :chat:  :cloud9: popcorn::  :crazy2: :lovestruc

And for clarification: When I said no Scrooges & Grinches here, I meant those dumping on Christmas. It never occurred to me that people might think they can't say what they think and feel about the movies and others may be upset over it.

One of the reasons I don't do FB.

It was so weird. I'm part of a few art or craft FB groups. I really like them. They are supportive, inspiring and creatively challenging. But, we are real, too. We say something if we see something wrong, like, "No matter how much you like the results, you can't put those chemicals together like that or you may kill yourself or someone else. " :duck: We don't care who's feelings get hurt. Luckily, the people in these groups are so emotionally fragile.

:lmao:It was very cult-like the way they insisted on only sunshine and roses and unicorn farts. It was like they didn't understand they could read or hear someone having a different opinion and they still get to keep their own. They don't lose it just because someone feels differently.

 I thought it was just my TV. The Amazon reviews warned that the TV's speakers were sucky. So, I thought they finally just got worse over time. A few months ago, I bought a mini sound amplifier and attached it to the TV. It did help clear up dialogue. But, when any music came on, it made it twice as loud. I was always reaching for the mute button so my neighbors wouldn't get blasted away too. I finally disconnected the amplifier. It never occurred to me it might be the TV channel. :scratchin

There should be settings for your audio to level set the volume. This is mainly for cable TV when the ads go up in volume. But it should help with this problem. The ROKU also has these settings for streaming shows too.

I'm very excited to see the reboot of Mrs. Miracle. I love the books, the originals with Doris Roberts and now I'm sure I will like this one as I really like Kaitlin Doubleday. I hope she ends up singing in it.

I watched "Boyfriends of Christmas Past" tonight and enjoyed it. Some of it was a little obvious (in that "to anyone-who's-ever-seen-a-Hallmark-movie . . . but-not-the-main-character" kind of way :rotfl: ) but I liked the story, and especially that it wasn't the plot with the horrible boss or corporation out to ruin everything. I put this one on the feel good list. :goodvibes
