As it is the closest Disney Store to us, I thought I'd see if there was anyone here that knew if there were some good sales on. We are heading down in a few weeks, that's what our daughter wants to do "go shopping at the Disney Store" for her 5th birthday. I always wonder if the website is comparable in sales to the Halifax store.

A great restaurant for a 5 year old's birthday dinner would be great as well. :)

The selection doesn't compare to the online store, sorry. :-( Not nearly the breadth of stuff, and the sales never get that good. But if you're looking for more or less mainstream stuff for a little girl, you'll have fun. My dd is almost 8 and I am sad that we've mostly outgrown the Disney store, but she used to beg for it too.

In the centre of the store they usually have a display with a bunch of different "party favour" type stuff, under $5. In the stuffed animals they usually have a good "BOGO" price, and you can always find more than one you want! I used to buy jammies for the kids there, especially if they are on sale. My big girl still has a couple of pairs that fit.

And if she's still got birthday money burning a hole in her pocket you can always go upstairs to Build a Bear. :goodvibes

Have fun!

I would echo the views on the Disney Store from the previous post. In terms of restaurants there is an East Side Mario's in the same mall as the Disney Store but if you want more of a fuss made you can head out to Dartmouth Crossing where this is a Montana's (they will sing to her and put a funky hat on her), Jack Astor's is not bad for kids. If you want a little more upscale you can go to Moxie's. It is a bit more expensive but the food was good and the kids menu was good too. They do an ice cream dessert which involves dry ice so it smokes all over which both my kids (5 and 8) love. There are other places like Swiss Chalet and Boston Pizza there as well.

My kids lately have been keen on Jungle Jim's which is over in Halifax - Bayer's Lake. A bit of a drive from Mic Mac Mall but not a bad spot. I am not sure if there is one in Dartmouth. There are some great restaurants in Halifax but not overly kid friendly. For the kids we are pretty much restricted to the chain places.

Hope this helps.
