They’re still dancing, at a theater near me this month.

They used to be located under the 59th Street Bridge on Manhattan's East Side.
My fav movie approximation remains "The Full Monty".

We're not all hypocrites. I think the skimpy cheerleader outfits are over the top and unnecessary. I also find it really offensive how little cheerleaders get paid and yet they work their tails off.

Agree; though some aren’t that bad. And some are. But one can argue as a sport less is a necessity when it comes to stunts. . What bothers me about cheer is the never ending crotch shots. Sometimes it’s just uncomfortable to look at especially when they are younger

Same for the Rockettes who need to work other jobs to support their dream job working at an overpriced family venue. .

Overall what I see running through this thread is a double, maybe third standard, the logic of which is not sustainable.

Mark me down for way over the top. I was embarrassed for 2 middle aged women in the age of equality dressing like strippers, thrusting about and jumping around on a stripper pole surrounded by kids nonetheless. It was not appropriate or ok at all to be televised during a show kids were also watching, imo. Time and place and that should not have been one of them.

Thankfully we still got a place like Disney, for now. The magic won't last forever.

If you liked it and are impressed with their abilities and feel they are role models for your children then good on you. Just don't be surprised others are taking a different path for our children, than sex sells.

Women in an age of equality can dress any way they want. I am much more offended by the ugliness of shows on TV that are all about exploitation of murder and horror and abuse of children for our entertainment, including many nominated shows like Law and Order, please if I want to watch horror I'll watch news. As far as children watching, don't you have control over what your children watch? Take them out of the room or turn the channel. Just for the record, I do like more innocent shows majority of the time which is why my go to channel is PBS shows but women bashing other women gets under my skin, you do notice it's mostly women doing it. These are beautiful middle aged women who generally get swept under the rug in the entertainment business long before that and this is the macho and yes violent football Superbowl if you want to go down that route.

I can't see them singing live with all the energy that is needed for dancing and bouncing/jumping all over the stage/any stage.

It was definitely entertaining. I thought they did great. JLo seemed a bit rushed, trying to squeeze all the songs, limited time. I loved seeing her daughter. I can't do what they are doing, so good for them.

I gave you a like, but don’t try to get rid of my LAO, it’s bad enough Criminal Minds is ending! I’ve been watching since the beginning. And nothing like a little Dateline and 20/20 - at least I know I can‘t kill my husband and get away with it.

Absolutely loved it! It was entertaining, beautiful, energetic, and fun to watch! I was astounded when I logged on to social media and saw all the people who hated it for the "over sexual" aspect of it. That never, ever crossed my mind watching it. I was awed by how women, older than me, could move their body. It was beautiful, Latin-inspired dancing.

They already have a men’s category.

ETA: I’d love for someone to tell me what’s scandalous or inappropriate about this. I see nothing but art and athleticism just like any other form of dance.

You've clearly never been to a circus, that's a shame.
Pole dancing, aerial silks and the like have been a part of performing outside of the strip clubs, and TBH I've seen aerial acrobats wearing less than what JLo had on.

Insisting on calling it a "Stripper pole" when there wasn't actually ANY STRIPPING going on is perpetuating the incorrect stereotype.

Oh and since you mentioned it, pole dancing is ABSOLUTELY a men's sport as much as a women's sport...because it ISN'T a stripper pole. For your viewing pleasure:

You know what? If I could do that, I'd do it proudly. It's no less a sport than gymnastics or weightlifting.

I don’t know why so many people are fixated on it being a “stripper pole”. My first thought is acrobatics/gymnastics, not sex.
