Talking with DS today and he has planned with a friend to run his first half marathon this summer. This lead to discussion of running half marathon at Disney in January. It will be his senior year of high school, he's run cross country and track since freshman year, and it falls during his sister's winter break from college. Would really be a perfect vacation for the whole family.
He'd like to have his aunt (who is his running soulmate) run with him, but getting her to fly seems a far harder task than running a marathon.
As we've just started with the idea and the planning - I'm wondering - how long do we have before registration will close for the half? Can someone tell me when it closed last year?
Also - the rest of the family doesn't run. But we might be willing to start for a chance to run in Disney. Wondering if anyone has any info about the 5k the day before the half. Where is it run? Is it raced competitively or are there some who really run hard and also walkers bringing up the rear (grandparents may join us and they are avid walkers, but not runners.)
Thanks to all for the assistance. I'm sure there will be more questions if we decide to go thru with this. Good luck to all with your training!
