When you do long distance runs you usually peak in the length of your training run 2-3 weeks before your race. Then you do less mileage for the last few weeks. This gives your body time to recover from the long training runs so you're in peak form for race day. This isn't as important in half marathons, but all marathon runners do a taper. Hope that answers your question.
Thanks Jenny.

In athletes I would agree - but for us crazy people... taper has come to mean, all that crazy pre race stuff - almost like nerves, jitters, its a madness doing a Half, Full, or a Goofy - and as you get ready to pack for that race I think that's the "taper" - every thing else is just plain MADNESS>... LOL
Patty! DH and many others swear by that interval training - also as time goes by you will want to increase some weight strength training in the quads... YOU GO GIRL!!

emotional... some anger... some of it is she's getting the coughing crud too... so I'm mostly without a computer!

I have faith that she'll heal quickly and will do GREAT in the Princess 1/2 marathon.
you know how the President talked about jobs? Well the small town money has to come from somewhere - - would you believe he is considering OUTSOURCING NASA projects? Seriously. Do we want our Space Program outsourced to China?
