Hakuna Matata -Spring-ing into Action for Race Season

Mike, Get well!

Vicky, I teach 6th this year (I started in 3rd, then got moved to 4th, then to 6th). Next year, all I know for sure is 3-6 (the joys of being the newest teacher), but hopefully I won't move 3 times in 9 weeks like I did this year. I also coach HS track and next year cross country.

3.1 miles in 26 minutes today.

Lynn I've been worrying about you, glad to hear your doing better. I wish I could come and visit you guys, maybe next year it will be possible.

I had a nice surprise, I got my car insurance bill and it was $283.00 for 6 months. After having a daughter on my policy, that thought her calling in life was to wreak cars, that seemed so cheap. I hurried up and mailed it in before they changed their mind. That was on the Mustang to. We have had bills as high as $2300 for six months. Maybe this being single does have it's benefits. "WhooHoo", to quote our princesses.

Dave:hippie:

And people wonder why I never got my license... It's cheaper this way. I also kinda sorta had a car wreck with my mother's car. And I never told her about it (it was some paint scrapes and a crumpled plate).

This morning I meet my walkers for our weekly training. Today will be 8 miles hard and fast on a hilly course. This is the core to my training program and my long walk of the week. We go at it hard and the good conversations make it comfortable and insures we stay in that magic heart rate range where we are going hard but not so hard we can't talk.

Have a super day.

Dave:hippie:

Good Morning:

I spend all afternoon looking out the window at work yesterday, hoping the rain would stop and sure enough it did so we were able to go out for our miles. 4 miles with a total of 16 for the month so far! My goal of 20 per week is coming along nicely. Can already feel it in my slacks.

Today it will be above 80 and tomorrow it will be 40. New England - gotta love it. I hope their is a breeze tonight, 80 is a bit hot for me.

Nick and Hope were at the house yesterday making ribs. They were fab! I had mine with green beans. Not your normal side dish but better for me than french fries.

Well stitch time starts now- coffee and needle&thread.

denise

I saw the pictures of the ribs on facebbook Denise, green beans are a great side dish. I get the veggies you can just throw in the microwave and steam in their bag and ten eat them with a lean meat or fish. My diet isn't surpreme but living alone in an apartment I tend to eat a lot of frozen dinners, quick and easy with no clean up.

Dave:hippie:

Been busy here in DC, many meetings and keeping a lid on things back home from afar.

Have had two great morning runs, nice and warm and I ended up leaking a bunch with the humidity.

Yesterday was 3.3 miles and this morn was 3.7. , Running past the various memorials is pretty darn nice.

Have a good one, I gotta run to do an interview this morn.

Good Morning Team! :wave2:

:umbrella: We have had severe thunderstorms the past couple of days.
And they are in the forecast for a couple more- the next few days
will still be nice, but with lower temperatures.

Dave- hope you have a great training walk this morning. ::yes::

Denise- Nice walk and Great Goal! ::yes::

It is so awesome if you can make a difference even in one life-

Then with your love of running coaching HS track and next year
cross-country
is a wonderful opportunity for you to encourage,
inspire, and pass that love on! WOW- :worship:

AFM: very long day yesterday.
The rest of the week is hectic
with not many minutes of me time available.

Enjoy the moments!

Today's group training was totally awesome. There is one really intense hill coming from the river to the main road, about a 400m steep climb. This morning I decided it was time to make this hill mine. I attacked it hard and left my walking group behind. That was only part of it, I wasn't slowing at the top to catch my breath and go easy for a little bit. Hell no I got to the top and kicked into over drive and flew effortlessly down the road. I ended up about a quarter mile ahead of my group that's chugging along at a 12 mpm pace, so I finally slowed to allow them to catch up. Then the last couple of hundred yards we all sprinted and I still had enough fire to win easily. It was a very satisfying walk and every week I amaze myself at how much I've improved.

Anyway, today was awesome for me thanks for listening.

Dave:hippie:

Good Morning Team!

The dull, rainy weather continues but the temps are still warm for this time of year.

Margie, Make sure you are not over doing it! You need your me time.

Vicky, How's the ankle?
Inlaws are on the Cdn side. They live in Niagara on the Lake.

Kristy, Hope the arm is better soon & just needs a little rest. Glad to hear the part arrived & your DH can get your chair in working order.

Disappointing news that my favourite spin class at the gym was cancelled. The reason budget cutbacks. The class is always full. Don't get that one.

Have a great day everyone.............Sue

Good Afternoon Team!

Dave - congrats on your long walk today!

Mike - hope you feel better!

Kirstie - hope the arm is better!

Kim - it has been awhile since we chatted! You are doing fantastic!

Thanks for all the pixie dust!

I left work work early today - yesterday I worked a full 8 hours, and felt totally drained once I got home - so I decided to take it a bit easier today. Maybe by Friday I can work up to a full 8 hours again. No exercise for me - unless you can count coughing as exercise, it sure makes me tired like I have been exercising!

Woke up to snow this morning - it has gotten really nice this afternoon and most of the snow is already gone - it should be up to nearly 70 by Saturday! I am sure that is not the last of the snow!

Have a great evening all!

Hi Everyone,
Just checking in today. Feeling a little better, worked and slept for the past three days. I hate respitory infections! I might do a 5K this weekend if I'm up to it. It's in my hometown and goes right down our road. Lots of steep hills and right past our main lake.

It sounds like everyone is doing great with their training, keep it up everybody! I'll be back at it soon!

-Mike :cool2:

Good Morning Team! :wave2:

Hope- You have not told your Mom you wrecked her car? :rolleyes1

Oh no. She hit her midlife crisis when I was driving age and got a sporty car to go with it. That's the car I put against the tree. I was sure my dad was going to drown me (if it wasn't for the tree, we probably would have been in the creek), and that would be merciful compared to what Mom would have done to me. So, she passed away never figuring out where she got those scrapes and I was glad to never admit what I did. Dad never told her either.

I've told this story numerous times, and she still hasn't struck me with lightning. But maybe she was the reason that Nick slid my car (yes, I own a car and I never got my license) into a trailer full of explosives. Nick is fine, and the car had damage on the driver's side rear.

Margie, Thanks for your positive comments! I'm Teach for America so I started all this with no teaching experience (unless you count Sunday School). I'm still not sure whether I'll stay after the two year committment.

Today was a half-day teacher work day. So I actually enjoyed a nice 5 mile run along the river until I was chased by dogs and cat-called by three different pickup trucks (including one that was a little two stalkerish for comfort). Time 46 minutes (the aforementioned situations caused some slow downs)

Best,
Jennifer

Hi everyone! It's been a few days since I checked in. I'm sorry to read so many of you are feeling under the weather. :worried: I hope you are all fully recovered soon!

Today was the first day we have finally had some decent weather in about a week. Today was also my 2nd day running for 30 minutes straight with no walking time so I'm still feeling pretty good.

Vicky- Thanks for saying I'm quick. I wonder if there's something wrong with my nike+ though b/c I sure don't feel like I'm running that fast?? :confused3 How's your ankle doing? Feeling any better?

Dave- Congrats on your great workout!

Kirstie- YAY! Your part is finally in? Did DH get it put in? How's it working?

That's about all that's going on with my workouts for now. I hope everyone continues to meet their training goals!

Dh is on the floor trying to put the new part on.......it's not going well.:sad2:
It looks like we are going to have to move my seat back and the back down so that I can fit under the bars.
If that does not work I will need new bars, and that would not be made in time for Boston.:sad1:

We went to the camp ground tonight to watch Tarzen.:cool1: I spent the night roasting marshmallows for everyone.:thumbsup2

My arm is not good, still can't use it, and taking morphine.:sad1:
I still want to race on sat as I need to give the chair a run with all the new parts on, but I don't know if I will be able.:confused3

AFM: Trip to the grocery Store and if you can call watching 4 little ones a Rest Day … I am having a rest day! ::yes::

Enjoy the moments!

Travel home today after some meetings, got in a quick two miles this morning.

Syko, girl your luck is as bad as mine.

I battle constantly with a bad achillies. I have to always be careful even how I step off curbs and climb stairs. I stretch and ice it frequently and do exercises that strengthen my ankle area. I only walk train hard every other day so I have rest and recovery time, my other days are pool days so i can keep loose and work the rest of my body.

Today was pool day and since it's raining that's great. I have to work a 12 hr shift also so let it rain.

Margie, that was not a normal thing, me taking off like that, just something I needed to do. Normally we all stay together the entire time.

Have a magical day y'all.

Dave:hippie:

Good Morning Team!

Another rainy morning.

Margie, No not a race just our annual Oct. trip to DW. My October race is on the 24th. Niagara Falls Marathon & I'm doing the full.

Went to spin class last night. The weather will again decide what I do tonight.

Many meetings today & tomorrow. Better get back to work.

Continued pd to all that are not feeling 100%.
Have a great day everyone.........Sue
