Hakuna Matata Pass the BodyGlide Before My Thighs Catch on Fire July

Hi, everyone,

Rick: Glad Christi is okay. Feel free to wear that DNS shirt.

Kimberly: Great trip report and PR!

Mary: Hi, hope I see you at TOT.

Hello to everyone else!

AFM: I missed a few runs due to a stomach virus. Usually my family avoids the school illnesses but not this year. I caught it on Wednesday afternoon. My fever didn't last long, which was good because I had a mother/daughter camping trip later on Friday with my youngest at a local Scout camp. I tried to keep hydrated since there was no AC and I was still weak and nauseous. One of our Saturday morning activities was to climb a 50-foot alpine tower, on which I made it 25 feet until I became too dizzy to continue. I made it back down and promptly fainted. 10-15 little Brownie Scouts crowded around me anxious to perform their limited first aid skills. ;) Ah well, at least they all have a story now! I'm fully recovered, a few pounds lighter, and ready for my long run tomorrow morning.

Hi team!

Lynn - I Googled and found a picture of the cyclocross bike. Thanks for explaining it though! I wouldn't have known just by looking at it that they were hybrids. Awesome job on the 24 miler!

Mary - Glad to see you're enjoying the recipes and I'm happy to see you posting again. The ToT race looks like a lot of fun! Keep up with you training and definitely keep hydrating in the summer :)

Kimberley - Great RR and congrats on your PR! Sounds like it was a tough race but I love the parts about the residents passing out popsicles and Gatorade. I love when people set up their own aid stations.

AFM - In my class last night, we made foccacia bread. It was one of the more fun classes because we got to pick different toppings for our breads. The funny thing was that a lot of people ended up eating the toppings as they were going along - there was cheese, olives, peppers and we could cook our own bacon. Some teams had a plain foccacia in the end - not sure if it was by choice or because they had eaten everything :)

It was also really messy. We had to let the bread rise in an olive oil mix. The oil ended up getting on everything - the counters, our hands, the equipment and even soap dispensers. It was nearly impossible to touch anything without making a huge mess. The bread was quite good though! I made mine with feta cheese, fresh rosemary, garlic, bacon and carmelized onions.

I'm planning to do 3 miles when I get home tonight and will meet up with a friend for dinner after that. Hope everyone is doing well and keeping cool :)

We must have been posting at the same time! Yikes! That must have been quite the scare! It's a good thing all the Brownies have some kind of first aid training :thumbsup2 I'm glad you're doing better now!

Must have been as I missed your post too. The foccacia sounds great; looking forward to seeing the recipe on the blog soon! Is it a typical process to rise foccacia dough in olive oil or was that unique to this recipe?

Honestly, fainting at the tower wasn't scary at all. I was so miserable that I enjoyed the brief break on the ground. ;) I slept for 12 hours straight when we returned home Saturday evening.

ES, glad your feeling better! I'm all for losing a few pounds but not that way!

Good Afternoon Team!

Vicky - The bread sounds really good!

Elizabeth - Glad to hear you are feeling better!

AFM - We had our long ride yesterday - 51 miles (we are in training for the MS ride - 80 miles the first day and 50 on the second). Today after watching the Tour, we were out for a shorter ride, did 13 miles.

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

Was raining this morning (with lightning) and still raining (with lightning) now. Not sure if I'll get my long run in tonight or tomorrow morning.

Hoping you all got out there today!

Good Evening Team! Hope everyone had a good day!

We got in a 26 mile bike ride this morning, then watched the tour. I got house cleaned, and we had a nice dinner of burgers. All in all, a good day! Hot again!

Pixie Dust to all who are in need!

Hey, where is everyone? Hope training is going well.

Dave: Hope the ankle is better today.

Lynn: When is the MS ride?

AFM: Heading out for a run before it gets too hot.

Enjoy your weekend!

Thank you Liz. It's an ongoing struggle right now. I will try some easy walking tomorrow, I haven't been able to train for a week and I'm missing it big time. The PT people have modified my rehab exercises to make healing easier and then work on strengthening more when I've healed more.

We got a new Welsh Corgi and when I was researching him on line I discovered that had he not been rescuesd he would have been put down on the 15th of June. I posted another pic on my facebook, I don't know how to post a pic on here.

We are waiting till our Sept stay at Pop to see if we want to stay there again in January or if we are going to stay at Port Orleans. If we like Pop ok we could use the savings. Never stayed in an Economy resort before.

Have a super weekend y'all.

Happy Monday team! I thought I'd better give us a bump back up to the top before we got lost at the bottom :)

A happy belated anniversary wish to Lynn & Scott!

On the weekend, I ran a 5 and 10 miler. It was hot and humid both days. The 5 miler definitely went better. I was sort of lucky for the 10 miler because it was overcast but it was still a slow run because of the humidity. But I got the miles in and that's what's important. How's everyone doing with their training?

Dave - How did the walk go? Any aches or pains? Fingers crossed that you had a pain-free walk. Take it from someone who use to stay at the Poly every trip, Pop is fine. The only issue I had was with the buses coming back from MK at the end of the night. I found they took a long time to come and they were always full. But with the money, you save - you can't beat the values.

Elizabeth - How did your run go? Have you recovered from the flu? I remade the focaccia on the weekend and used cherries and rosemary :) I'll post a link to the recipe at the bottom if you're interested.

Lynn - A bike ride, burgers and watching the tour! Sounds like it was a great day :) I showed my friend one of the Life is Good links that Scott had posted. She and her BF go off roading a lot so they ordered shirts!

AFM - It was a hot weekend for sure! I was busy running, blogging and trying to set up a new computer system. It's a bit of a challenge transfering stuff from the old to the new system. And in the middle of it all, my back up drive died. So I have to figure out how to get my files off of that. Argh!

I also made a cherry and rosemary focaccia which turned out pretty well. It's cherry season so I picked up a big bag from Whole Foods on Friday. They were half price so I couldn't resist! Check out the recipe if you have time! It's definitely different than a typical savoury focaccia!

Hope everyone is having a great day :wave2:

Vicky I'm just concerned about the noise level at night when I'm trying to sleep. Do you know if there is in room coffee at Pop? How about the toster, microwave and fridge?

Yes I was able to walk today, finally!! Slow and easy 12:30 pace for 2 miles after a lot of warm up and stretching.

Good Afternoon Team!

Vicky - Thanks for the anniversary wishes. Scott printed out the focaccia bread recipe with cherry and rosemary.

Dave - Hope the ankle is feeling better! Glad to hear you could walk today!

Elizabeth - MS ride is in August - 18th and 19th.

AFM - Sorry to not be posting for awhile, we were gone for the weekend, Scott brings a computer so he can post, but I don’t bother, (I like the desktop computer for typing). We got in a 20 mile bike ride on Friday, Saturday we headed down to Fort Collins, CO after walking the dogs and taking them to the kennel. Scott posted a trip report of the Urban Assault Ride on FB, so I won’t go into detail here, other than it was fun. Today we got in another 20 miles. It was a bit warm because we waited until after the Tour today, instead of riding first, then watching the Tour.

No to the coffee machine. You have to bring your own or get coffee from the food court. No to the toaster and microwave. But to be fair, there were no in room toasters or microwaves at the Poly either LOL Those are in the food court as well.

I believe they now have fridges at Pop.

I heard that POP has fridges also. In January, I got a fridge just by asking for one so that was good for keeping milk and other goodies cold for the weekend.

But you can definitely bring your bread and oatmeal down to the food court and use the microwaves and toasters there for free. That is what I did in the mornings for my pre-race meal.

I ended up getting a pool view room at POP for 2013. The room I had last January was nice but off the beaten path. It was very quiet and all, but I think my son would prefer to be 'closer to the action' at the pool area. For myself, I sleep through pretty much anything so as long as I can 'get' to sleep, nothing really wakes me up but the alarm.

Good Morning Team!

Windy and rainy here today, do not know if it will clear up enough to ride outside today, but we really need the rain, so I am not complaining. We may be doing our daily ride on the spin bike today.

Pixie Dust to all who are in need!

Hi team! Only time for a quick message today - I made both the dining reservations. Kona is for 10:30AM on Jan 11 (13 people) and Whispering Canyon is for 5:00PM on Jan 13 (21 people). I only made it for the number of people who told me they're going. So if you're not on the list, you'll need to make a reservation for yourself at that time. Alternatively, if you're not going - please let me know so I can adjust the reservation :)

And a quick non-Disney related question... for those of you who live near a Trader Joe's, what kind of interesting things can you get there? I keep hearing about it so I might send a friend to go there and grab me a few things.

Morning all! Hope everyone is doing well. I seem to be on track for training for the marathon. AFter my race, I ran t, w and th mornings, five miles each. Although I took friday off bc I was going to do my long run on saturday, I ended up walking over a mile to get from a job I was doing to my DH and DS who were at a museum while they waited for me - we were in Cooperstown for the day.

Saturday morning, I kid you not, I got up at 5 am to do my 12 mile run, put on my clothes, open the door and CRACK - lightening, thunder and POURING rain (first rain in six weeks) came down. Uh, no thanks. didn't let up until after 11 am and it was just too hot to run then, especially as I had to be at church at 2 pm to help out with a BBQ fundraiser we were having. So sunday, did it again, got up at 5 am and ran 12.16 miles. I felt really good through it all and felt like I could keep going but BOY was the humidity crazy! sweat was pouring from EVERYWHERE, even my lower arms and legs which I've never had happen before!

rested yesterday and ran 5 today. will run 5 tomorrow, wednesday and friday. will be in boston for fun on friday and saturday and in old forge, ny (adirondacks), sunday and monday. the next weekend, it will be time to try the longest I have ever run before 14 miles, possibly 15. yeah!

good thoughts to all!

yeah! thanks so much! we are getting a trader joe's soon and I can't wait! but have no idea of the goodies.

Hello everyone,

Hope everyone is doing well.

My work life has finally quieted down a little (for now), so I can get back to things I like doing- like planning for WDW marathon weekend.

Running is going very well, I have been cheating with my long runs by adding an extra mile or two on each run…this coming weekend is my “scale back” weekend, but after that it is my first 20 miler, almost a month ahead of schedule. I figure I will keep the Sunday long runs in the 20-24 mile range until my October full. I am also starting to ramp my Saturday runs up to 10-12 miles to get “Goofy” ready.

I am officially booked at Pop Century too. Being a first timer at this resort, are there particular buildings or floors that I should request? Would not mind being close to bus stop or food court…and maybe away from potentially noisy areas like around the pool. I am thinking it may be noisy mid afternoon after races when I want to nap!

Vicky – just to confirm, my bro in law and I are on your list for both Kona and WCC, right?

The only other “must do” for me is ohana. I am thinking of making an ADR for Wednesday the 9th… if anyone will be in town that early and wants to join, let me know.

Robbie
