Hakuna Matata: Official thread Part deux

I have been reduced to walking! I slipped in the house and injured a toe, but more importantly, my right knee is acting up. So, I have been walking and biking. No jogging right now until it feels better :sad2: Hopefully, babying the knee and doing strengthening will have it back soon enough...

I want to be in shape for the Minnie, after all!! Have a great weekend, team :goodvibes

I hope you don't mind me popping in here without any trash-talking plans. (Darn it all, I've been caught unprepared--guess you can figure out I wasn't a Boy Scout.)

If it's all right with you, I'd like to donate today's XT miles/time to Erica: 11.25 miles & 2:00 (elliptical, as I'm rehabbing a knee). Where do I send them? In the meantime, I'll just deduct them from the total I report to Ohana to save Jeanne the hassle of tracking.

Debra that is so sweet. Erica hasn't been on the computer since Tues since she is working 4, 12 hour shifts (Night Nurse) in a row. I'm not going to tell her about this, I want her to read it herself. I think she will be just floored.

Her bunion on the left foot has been hurting since we started training for the Goofy last year but she never told me till now when it's going to be fixed. It always amazes me how women are so strong about things like that. I would have been whinning the whole time.

I have not posted here since my return from WDW last Friday night. I did a lot of miles (well for me) 23 during my stay.

A brief report - We arrived on Sunday and of course I had a terrible headache from the flight but regardless it was fine and we walked to MGM from the BW. Got to get my miles in :).

On Monday, Miranda called and told us that my MIL - had had a severe heart attack. On top of that one of my dear friends was in the hospital (same one) with a ruptured appendix. Talk about stress. Thankfully we had done our powerwalking in the morning to ease my headache - yes it does seem to help.

We were kept posted on her progress during the week. She was in good hands and there was not much we could do so we stayed. Poor Miranda and Nick, and Hope had to pick up the slack for us while we were gone.

This week we have spent time getting back to work, visiting the hospital and also dealing with my FIL who is not really with it. Mark has a brother and sister who do a lot for them so it was our turn to come in and help a bit. Although my MIL would rather have her DD help than the boys so that does put a strain on her.

So no miles for me this past week but I did manage to get in 3 today with 50 min of time. It's SNOWING here in NH again so it was on the TM. I have had that bad headache all week from my neck and have an appt with a new Dr on Tuesday. I'm feeling a bit more positive - as they say new eyes see new things.

I'm glad to be back among the living, with my friends here on the DIS.

Denise we are all glad to have your sweet personality back with us. It's to bad we all live so far apart. It would be great if we were all close enouth to meet for group hug breaks.

I went to the gym for just stretching and calistetics. My shins were just a bit sore to the touch yesterday so I thought a rest from walking day was in order. I don't want to overdue my miles while I'm building back up. Yes even walkers have to watch that and not build up to fast.

On the plus side I'm noticeably more limber and move better. I still have a long way to go but I'm seeing daylight. I'm gonna make this stretching work.

Everyone be strong today and remember how special you are.

Sunday, March 9 = 6 miles
Monday, March 10 = 2 miles
Tuesday, March 11 = 3 miles
Wednesday, March 12 = 0 miles
Thursday, March 13 = 3 miles
Friday, March 14 = 0 miles
Total = 20 miles (Connie, I already PM'd you this information :thumbsup2)

Erica, I promise to dedicate one of my running days next week to your mileage, don’t you worry girl!! That’s what belonging on a team is all about :grouphug:!

For today, I only logged four miles, after sitting in class for five hours :headache:, I just had to discharge some excess brain pressure! Now, I think I’m going to take a little nap, get up, eat dinner, study a few hours, then go back to sleep. My goal tomorrow, bright and early is to log eight miles.

Have an awesome week fellow Hakuna Matata team-members!

Hi All

I am so thankful for the "miles" donated to me!

Debra, thank you so very much!

I am moved to tears by everybody's generosity and friendship! I am very honored to call ya'll my friends!

Erica:hug: :flower3:

Are we supposed to PM someone with our miles?

Ok, I didn't know that, so here are mine and someone just post and let me know what I am to do.

Saturday I did 5 miles in 1 hour and 3 minutes
Monday I did 3.53 miles in 45 minutes

Today I did 6 miles in 1 hour 16 and a half minutes.

Got home late yesterday, Lots of OT but too much work it is getting to me. I need a vacation.

Up early to drive to Ft Collins, really nice 5K race, did ok, 30:40, very cold, at least it did not snow.

After the race drove home and hit the local Home and Garden SHow, Still a little bit o landscaping to do this year. Gotta finish up the space between the barn and house. Looks like rocks will be in order. No trees or grass.

Then finished trim on the top of the Bathroom Cabinets, BIG DONE STAMP ON THE BATHROOM, and finished hanging the drywall in the North Bed room, will tape and 1st coat of mud tomorrow morn.

Later kids I gotta cook some burgers for dinner tonight, saute some peppers and onions. Not sure what to make as a side. Will post pics later. Photobucket is acting up.

Yes do donate some of our miles for Erica, not a prob.

We did have fun today at the St. Patricks Day 5K race in Fort Collins.

Connie, I am donating last Sundays 6.19 mile walk to Erica from me and Scott, I have sent you a PM with the totals. Scott had a very busy week and did not get many miles in this week. Hopefully next week will not be as bad, and he will have some time for runs (but it does not look good at this point).

Say, do we actually get double credit for races? I remember reading something about that, but can't remember if it was actually instituted.

Yes Yes Yes, the double miles rule is to encourage people to get out and do the races. Some people are shy about the group activities like that so any thing that might help.

My little princess with the sore bunions thinks you guys are the best.

I walked 2.5 miles at the mall waiting for my pretty princess to get off work so we could get breakfast. Blueberry pancakes.

It's another dreary rainy day here in Hooterville, but spring is definately on the way, our flowering bushes around the house are blooming. Hummm last week we had the worst snow in 20 years this week the flowers are blooming. What a year.

Walk/run strong Team.

Good Morning, Hakuna Matata!!! The bestest team because we have the bestest people!

This week has gone by at Warp speed for me! I didn't make my race yesterday, but it's okay. I did the one last week, that counts for something. I hope!

Kathy (Katwalks) and her DH came by our house on Friday on their way to see their son. We took them out for lunch and had a really great visit with them. We took them by to see Rib-eye and T-bone, two long horn bulls who have been trained to accept a saddle and be ridden just like a horse! They were getting ready for the big parade in Shamrock, Texas. (a St. Paddy's celebration in Shamrock... ) :rolleyes1

I managed to get about 20 miles this week even after I donated a 1.2 to Erica! She is really making the miles for the team! :rotfl: Good job, Erica!

Well, I went out this morning for my first LR and first run back outside since Disney. Didn't go well--did manage 5.5 miles in 51 minutes. However, around mile 3.5 my left knee started acting up and by 4.5 miles I was in pretty bad pain (eyes tearing pain) I figured walking would just delay the inevitable, so I finished the run home (not the best idea mind you) Now even walking hurts--it's actually hurting while I'm here sitting. Ugh! Gonna go ice my knee and drown my sorrows in some ice cream!

Hope everyone had a good weekend. I did 2 miles in 31 min today. Just a bit here and there but something is better than nothing and I feel much better - headache not so bad.

Smelled like spring this morning or was that the mud outside my back door. Regardless better mud than the frozen stuff.

Have a good week.

Steff, feel better princess. RICE and take it easy. Knee pain sucks hopefully you were just tired, I wouldnn't press the issue with it, a few days of rest is better than a melt down.

Denise, yes the mud is better than the frozen ground at least the mud will dry and the grass and flowers will grow.

Cool Connie that you got to spend some time with Kathy. Is their son at Fort Campbell?

Scott and Lynn, yes we need a vacation to but not till Oct for us.

Hi Margie and Diane and everyone:flower3:

Have a super evening y'all.

Oh, I can relate to your pain, Stephanie! I overdid my knee a couple of weeks ago and I have not been able to run since!! Please take it easy so you aren't sidelined to just walking like me :guilty:

Lisa and Stephanie, you guys need to tell your hubbies that you require extra pampering till you are better. A good professional massage can sometimes work wonders since a sore knee may be caused by other muscles and tendons.

I had pain behind my right knee, I assumed it was my knee. Well it turned out that I had tight swollen ITBs, since it was swelled in the middle it was pulling on where it attached behind the knee. A massage therapist worked out the soreness and the pain behind the knee went away. Good excuse for a massage anyway.:wizard:

My weight seems to have leveled off at 177. I'm eating pretty normally now just nothing crunchy. I do dearly miss crunchy. Maybe soon.

I'm off to the gym for the days exercise, have an awesome day everyone.
