Hakuna Matata - Movin' on to March

Happy Friday team! We're about 18 days out to registration opening for WDW marathon weekend!

Lynn - Good job on the bike mileage! Is the path paved or is it off road? Did you ride around the "block" a couple of times to make up for the 3 miles? I do that sometimes when I go running and I'm 1-2 miles short.

Eva - My favourite Indian dessert is rasmalai. I'll have to find a recipe for it. It's sweetened paneer that's served in milky liquid - a bit like evaporated milk. There's also gulab jamun but I find them to be a bit on the sweet side.

Glad to hear that you'll be able to go running two weeks after your surgery! That's great! And a 2:15 sounds doable too! You're so fast, you'll probably blow that 2:15 out of the water!

Mike/Rick - Good luck on your race! Can't wait to see the bling and hear the RR!

AFM - Well I tried running 3 miles yesterday and it wasn't that great but I got it done. I tried going slowly at first and then had pain around the outside of my foot. It was probably because I had changed my gait somewhat. Strangely when I decided to try sprinting, my form was fine and my knee didn't hurt during that. Go figure! I'm still going to try my 8 miler this weekend but do a lot of metabolic exercises to warm up and see if that makes a difference.

I have another blog post up on bread making. It's really easy ... and so much better than store bought!

Have a great weekend everyone! :wave2:

Hi team. I'm going to try my best to catch up. Sorry if I miss something, but I am sooooo behind!

Vicky: I'm sorry your knee is still messed up. Funny how when we try to overcompensate for an injury, we start hurting other things. :rolleyes1 Also, sorry about the headache. Yuck. By the way, lemon meringue is my absolute favorite pie. I could live on it. Of course, I'd be 300 pounds, but I'd be happy!:rotfl:

Lynn: Did you get that weekend warm up you were hoping for? Good job on the bike ride and walk. I am spending my whole weekend in the yard. Not my favorite, but it's a good workout to rake.

Eva: I'm glad your pre-op went so well. And, so happy that you can run so soon afterwards. When were you planning on running the 13.1, so I can do it too? Was it tomorrow? I have the worst possible memory!

I have stayed at POFQ and loved it! Will never stay anywhere else. We had a brand new room last January with a river view in building 5. The grounds are quiet and beautiful, and the transportation for Goofy was good and quick.

Rick: Good luck to you and your son! I know that when Harrison and I ran our 10k together it was really special. My favorite race by far because he was so proud of himself. And, I agree. Watch out for those ultra people. They will drag you into their crazy world. I was dragged in, but had to bail due to my injuries. I am seriously going to shoot for it next year though.

Robbie:I may have to give yoga a 2nd chance. I have tried it, but didn't like it. Too boring for me. But, I think getting some serious stretch in would be really good for my legs. Great job on the 2 loop run. To be only a second off the first laps pace is amazing.

Kimberely:I am so glad you made it outside for that run! I used to only run on the TM, but then, one day, it broke. So, I headed outdoors and have never looked back. I only run on that boring old TM if I have to. Of course, this winter was so nice I only got on it once or twice. Sorry that you didn't get as much running in, but so proud of your new time! Getting under 11 is awesome!:thumbsup2

Dave: Sorry to hear you're having to work so much. Hopefully, you can get back at it soon. Hope your training partner is better fast. You don't want to mess with those calf muscles, I know. ;) Pretty cool that you were able to videotape yourself and work on your gait. I would love to figure out why I keep hurting myself running.

Yeah, the cost of living in Florida is high, but we'd be down in Cape Coral, which isn't as bad as some areas. My hubby doesn't have retirement, so I'll be supporting him in his old age (he's 10 years older than me). ;)

Mary: I can say that I've never dreamed about working out. I think it totally counts as exercise! I am going to have to remember that I can run on the track. I always forget about it, and I have to go out at 4:30 am on school days.

Regina: Glad the skirt is working out for you. Harrison's baseball season technically starts in mid April, but around here, they practice all year. They are serious about their sports. Great job on all your running. I haven't done anything over 4 or 5 miles in forever. Hoping to get back at it soon.

Elizabeth: Happy to see you back. Sorry work is so crazy.

AFM: Well, school got insane again! I haven't had a moment to post. I managed to do my teach in social problems which was awesome. 2 other students and I had to teach the education chapter. We did a game that was a play off of Family Feud. I have horrible stage fright, but wasn't nervous at all, so I feel very proud.

I had an amazing run today. It was only 3.5 miles, but I averaged a pace of 7:34! It's the first time I've been in the 7s since I tore my calf.

But, bad news is Harrison is out. We went to the doctor today and he's thinking stress fractures in the heel. I'm waiting on the xray results. He's on crutches now, and I feel so bad for him. :guilty:

Good morning team.

Eva, don't forget next Aug we are going to be there for the National Senior Olympics. Your our tour guide for the Rock and Roll Museum. That and us celabrating our Team Panda victory.

Training is still going well even with the change of schedule these two weeks, but a little lighter training is ok since I have a 10 mile race that mostly up steep hills on the 31st.

Have an awesome weekend y'all.

Dave:hippie:

Good Morning Team!

Vicky - the bike path is paved, and we usually drive to the bike path, if we had ridden from home, we would have added 4 miles, but would have to ride on a major road with narrow to no easement, so we usually haul the bikes to the trailhead of the bike path. Hope you knee is good for the weekend run.

Dave - Glad to hear you got the AC fixed. Good luck on your race next weekend.

Tandy - Yes, it is nice and warm here. PD for Harrison’s heel!

AFM - Beautiful day yesterday, warm and NO WIND! We took the bikes to the bike path again and did 16 miles. Dogs got their walk. Today will be even warmer, but it is breezy right now, will see what the wind does later.

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

Hi Team!

Rick- That’s great DS is excited to run 5ks, even if it’s just for the medals! Wow you have a lot of training going on! I hope it all goes well. Your walk the other day sounded very nice! Congrats on your race today! Hope it went well! How did DS do?

Dave- I’m glad your home owner warranty is working well for you. I hope your walking friend recovers ok from his volleyball injury.

Kim- Glad you are enjoying the nice weather you’re having!

Kimberly- Congrats on your PR on your race! That’s great you are able to enjoy nice weather for your runs outside.

Lynn- LOL good point. Glad the winds slowed down enough for you to get in some mileage on the bikes. That’s wonderful you had a beautiful day yesterday with no wind! Sounds like an awesome day!

Robbie- That’s great you seem to be running at a consistent pace. I’m glad yoga went well for you this time around.

Eva- That’s why I was so surprised- my dog doesn’t normally chew like that. LOL, well I am glad that Savannah has only done that to you guys a few times and I can see how you would be upset, especially if she has snuck upstairs to your bed! Both Sept and Feb sound like great times to go. Any luck narrowing down resort choices? Glad your appointment went well Thursday!! How did the half go this weekend?

Vicky- What is hot yoga? So far I’ve only worn it once (I think for 4-5 miles?) but I really liked it. My legs are feeling much better thanks! They seemed to take forever for the soreness to go away. Yuck. I’m sure people throw stuff in the water here that they aren’t supposed to also. I read awhile back that in 2013 the coast here will have things start to wash up on the shore here from the tsunami in Japan last year. I’m sorry to hear your pie didn’t have enough time to set. Did you try to make it again this weekend after all? Great job finishing your 3 miles even though it wasn’t a great run! How did your 8 miles go?

Tandy- So Harrison’s baseball season is quickly approaching then. LOL, I think it’s nice they are serious about their sports there. Uh, oh, so will he not be able to play baseball with his stress fracture? I’m sorry he’s injured. I’m glad your teaching on social problems went well and that you weren’t nervous at all! That’s great! And congrats on the awesome speedy 3.5 mile run!!! Yay!!!

AFM, had a good 6 mile run today. The run seemed to go by so quickly today. Tomorrow is a 3 mile run and probably some weights and core training. I’m hoping to get some new shoes for DH and I at the beginning of April so I have been spending a lot of time researching different support shoes to decide which ones I want to try next. My shoes now are okay, but I still feel like something is missing, if that makes any sense. I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Hey guys..I'm up and throwing back some K Cups. Figured it was a nice time to check in with the gang!

Regina - How often do you do core work? While I was in my last training cycle (for Goofy) I was trying to fit it in at least 3 times a week. I really think it helped in the late miles though. I felt great through my mid section and shoulders...much better than my first marathon. What do you do other than planks? I would love to get back into it and really lose a few pounds..I've never had a six pack at all, but I think that losing the pounds is a major player in that battle. You looked pretty fit when we saw you last I bet you aren't far off from a six pack yourself!!

Lynn - Great to hear that you had warmth and without the wind...so often you are cheated on nice days because of those gusting winds. I woke up today to find a "MapMyRun" open with a bike course of 21 miles today...so I guess that's Jordan's plans for this afternoon. He is really taking to this cyclist thing. Do you guys travel much for rides? I bet he would love to do something away from home if he could after all of the places we've gone for me to run.

Tandy - Yep..the half is today. I guess I didn't realize you were sooooo fast!! You will put me to shame! 7:34 average?? I think my fastest mile EVER was a flat 8:00. Geesh you are a speedy one!!! Congrats also on your skit in school. I bet if felt great to plan it out then execute it without stress!! Is that what you are going to school for..teaching?

Dave - Is it August 2012 or 2013? Yes..I do love the Rock Hall...and some of the 2012 inductees are people I grew up listening to. Beastie Boys, Guns n Roses and Red Hot Chili Peppers were all faves of mine since childhood, I remember getting Guns n Roses first album, Appetite for Destruction, for Christmas the year it came out and a tee shirt too (which I couldn't wear to school because it had liqueur bottles and syringes on it..lol). It will be a fun visit for sure!!

Vivky - Rasmalai sounds awesome! One of my girlfriends is Indian, but she has moved to NYC or I'd have her come and make some of that with me. Have you made it before?? Sorry you had a painful 3 miles. I had read somewhere once something that said that if you try to force your gait to be more neutral, then you had have other stuff crop up. Mostly read the opposite though...try to change your gait to be neutral and your injuries will go away. Who knows. I try to land mid foot, but naturally am a heel striker. I remember that you said you are too a bit. I wish our running store had a treadmill to analyze...most people would do that in a heart beat to find out if a shoe is correcting. Speaking of...are you looking into new shoes?

ASM - Gonna eat some PB toast and a banana then head out for 13.1. Should be nice weather, but it seems a bit foggy so I will stick to my neighbor hood for the first 6 or so til it gets light out. Also..got some body glide last night so I can try out a running skirt. I use them for my short runs 3-4 miles, but my lumpy thighs rub so I have never worn them for anything longer. I figured if it bothers me I can always head home and change since I am doing a figure 8 by my house today.

We have decided on Wilderness Lodge for the trip. For sure. I even have a room request lined up. It is my favorite resort by far and once I found out that my parents and hubby were all on board I got my mind set on it. Plus it has that awesome running trail!!! I think we could do one more night had we stayed at the moderates, but we agreed on 4 nights at the WL. Now I can't WAIT for September!!! It is my one light at the end of the tunnel with work stress and this surgery stress. Disney planning always takes me to a happy place! :cloud9:

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!! PD for anyone in need! :grouphug:

Good Morning Team!

Regina - I never did find shoes I was REALLY happy with, the closest I got were the Ascis Kayano that I still buy, it has both cushioning and support, knee Doc said they were good for my knees. Good job on the 6 miles.

Eva - We have done a bit of traveling for bike rides, mostly overnights to Colorado, and the long weekend to Sundance, WY for the MS ride. Have fun in Sept at Wilderness Lodge!

AFM - Windy yesterday, supposed to be light, but it was always 15-20mph, so we just did a dog walk. Hoping today it will be lighter wind and we can get back out on the bikes.

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

Hi Team,

Eva- I have been trying to do core work 3-4 times a week. I have been doing side bends with a barbell, crunches on a stability ball, and back extensions (but obviously that’s for my back) with the planks. I tried the plank with one leg today and it is definitely more challenging! LOL you are too nice! I have never had a six pack either…but I still dream that one day I might. Actually I do have some excess bulge in my tummy that I am trying to get rid of. It seems to be the one thing that does not want to go anywhere. I think I saw on runningwarehouse.com that you can send them a video recording of you running on TM and they will analyze it for you. It might be an option for you since your running store doesn’t have a TM for that. Hope your 13.1 went great! How did the running skirt work out? Did it have the briefs or the shorts underneath? My thighs rub as well. That’s great you decided on WL. I would be counting down to September if I were you too!

Lynn- How many shoes did you try on your quest for great shoes? Were the Asics Kayanos one of the first or last pairs you tried? I hope you are able to get out on the bikes today!

AFM, I met with DH at his work this morning to run 3 miles on the TM. It was a good run and I felt great when I finished. Did some core training and worked on strengthening my back but that’s about it for today. I don’t want to overdo it before the long run tomorrow.

I was reading an article in Runner’s World about losing weight while running your best and it had some great information in it. One of the suggestions was to use a calorie tracker on your phone so I know what I am really eating and how much so I am not overeating thinking I am burning more calories than I really am. I have only been using the app a couple days but so far I like it. It’s easier for me to keep track of my food journal than writing it down and I can include my exercising and training. It even gives me my daily nutrient details. Hopefully it continues to go well! That’s about all going on with me.

I hope everyone is having a great Sunday!

Eva it will be 2013 when the National Senior Olympics happen. This year is the qualifing year for it.

Everyone have a restful evening.

Dave:hippie:

I was having a cow day, that's where you feel like the fattest slowest cow that every lived, so I headed out to my hill route to shake off the funk. I put on my heavy cushion shoes, strapped on my Grrrrrrrrr, took a bead on my dream and attacked the hills. Ended up with a new PR for the 4 mile hill route by 11 seconds. Now I'm chomping at the bit to try it with my racing flats.

Dave

Happy Monday team! Hope everyone had a good weekend! I found a $5 bill while I was on the subway today. I think someone must have dropped it while they were walking off the train. I looked down to get something from my bag and there was a bill by my foot.

Regina - Hope your LR goes well today! Thanks for the tip about food journalling. I had been doing it for a while and then lost track of it. The one I use on my phone is called 'Lose It!'. I like it because it has a pretty big database of foods already there but you can also add foods that aren't there.

I use to run in Kayanos and really liked them - fit, feel and look but I switched out to NB because I needed something with a higher toe box. If I can get a pair on sale, I might try experimenting with them again. What are you running in right now?

Hot yoga is yoga that's done in a room where they turn the temperature way up. You're sweating even before you start with the poses. I think the idea is to have the room hot enough so that you're more flexible (no muscle stiffness).

I saw on the news yesterday that a fishing boat from Hokkaido washed up somewhere on the coast of British Columbia. So I guess it takes a year for that stuff to make it across the ocean.

Lynn - Were you able to get out for a bike ride?

Eva - No I've never made rasmalai because I'd have to make paneer and I've never made paneer before! LOL I think there's a way to make it without paneer though. I'll do an Indian recipe for you - I want to see if I can do something healthy with lots of veggies. Thanks again for posting my stuff on Pinterest :)

I think you have something there about changing your gait and having other problems crop up. You know when I actually go for an all out sprint, I don't have any knee problems. Of course I can't run like that for more than 400m (if that)... Maybe when I go tomorrow, I'll just not think about gait or knees and see if that does anything.

How did your 13 miler go?

Dave - Is that what they're called? LOL I have them every so often - you feel logy, heavy and just generally yuck. Congrats on the PB! What's the difference between your cushioned shoes and racing flats? I know racing shoes are generally lighter... but that's all I know about them :)

Kim - I'm going to register for the 10K today. I noticed that Sporting Life has a sale on shoes so the gift card will come in handy LOL

AFM - I did two 3 milers on the weekend. It wasn't what I really wanted to do but figured it would be better if I went easier on my knee. After I ran on Sunday, it didn't feel too bad so I'll give the 8 miler a try this weekend. Fingers crossed!

I had lunch with Sue on Friday! It was fun catching up! Plus we went to Chipotle! Yay!

I tried remaking the lemon meringue pie on the weekend. Everything but the filling turned out. I think I overcooked it and the starch that's suppose to hold the filling together broke down. So the filling was more "soupy" than I would have liked. Oh well ... you win some and you lose some! I'll see if I can redo it again this week.

I did another blog post for a pineapple coconut banana loaf. Check it out and let me know what you think!

http://menubyvicky.com/2012/03/26/pineapple-coconut-banana-loaf

Oh and if you guys don't like me posting the blog stuff here, let me know  Have a great day everyone :wave2:

Good morning team. I hope you all had a great weekend.

Vicky: We were posting at the same time again. I'm glad the knee is better. Yes, let's keep our fingers crossed. I love you posting your blog stuff on here. Please don't take it off! Glad you got to see Sue. It's nice that you guys live close. Hope everything else is good.

Dave: Great job! Isn't it amazing how we can be fast even when we feel like we're just dragging? Those are my happy aha moments.

Regina: I read that same article. I actually bought the magazine for the article. :) I have always counted calories, so no biggie for me. But, I think it's good just to read it again. I also love the part where they show that sometimes we aren't working as hard as we think we are.
Glad both of your runs went well this weekend. What's the mileage for today?
I need new shoes too, but am waiting to take Harrison with me, so it'll have to be next weekend.

Lynn: I'm so glad you had at least one day with no wind. Great way to take advantage of it. Don't you just hate having to drive to the path? I have to do the same thing here for my long runs. I could run it. It's just 1.5 miles from the house. But it's a really busy street with a small sidewalk that is pretty much on the street. No thanks.

Eva: I'm so glad you have your plans all worked out for your trip. The Wilderness Lodge is beautiful. We liked to stay at the campground with our RV when we first started coming to Disney and I love the trail between them.
How was the run? Mine, not so good.

AFM: I decided to join Eva and run 13.1 yesterday. However, since I haven't run over 5 since this last injury, I thought I'd be smart about it. I walked the dog 3.5 miles and then, headed out for a 10 mile run. I figured it counted. ;) I was hoping to take it really slow and would be happy with anything faster than 10:00 m/m. I wasn't counting on my stupid piriformis/sciatic nerve injury to rear it's ugly head at mile 2.5! I basically half walked, half ran hobbling the whole time. I can't believe how bad it hurts when it hurts. The funny thing is, I told Frank a week ago that I was getting the shooting sciatic pains again and would have to pay attention to that. Well, surprise, I should have listened to myself. Anyway, rather than turn around, I went the whole 10 miles. I ended up at 1:45:05, which, considering, is pretty darn good. I'll take it. I'm a very stubborn person, in case you didn't know.

Well, back to work. I have a big test tomorrow and lots of homework. I should have studied yesterday, but had to watch NCAA magic as my Jayhawks kicked booty!

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

I do not know if posting this is considered wrong/inappropriate for the Disboards so if it is, then I will gladly remove it (or Vicky you can remove it).

I am starting to raise funds to support the 2012 Avon Walk for Breast Cancer here in Chicago on June 2-3. I would be very grateful for your support to help me and this great organization by making a donation. Your help will make a difference.

We have many friends who have survivied this fight. We have many others who fought bravely but did not. My wife's family has been affected by this disease for generations, including the death of her mother who was very loving and supportive of our relationship (even back when we dated in high school). So we live with the fear that my wife could be next.

So we pray everyday that someone will find a cure for this thing. I do these 39.3 miles (a 2-day walk) for my mother-in-law Barbara, for thousands of others who fight on, and for the thousands who are searching for the cure.

If you feel called to add your support, you may do so on my Donation Page online, or if you are uncomfortable with doing so online, I can send you the information for mailing in a donation.

Thank you for reading.:flower3:

Hi gang sorry I have been MIA but been dealin' with some stuff and haven't felt much like chattin' but I am back and ready to start getting my a$$ moving again.

I will try to catch up but just wanted to come in and say hi

The hardest part of living an athlete lifestyle is motivation. That is because you have to keep on the right path day after day, month after month and year after year. It's OK to stray off the path occasionally to eat a decadent dinner, be lazy for a few days and rest or just take short trips to pursue other interests. But the motivation gets you back on the path to your healthy active lifestyle after your side trips. It sounds easy and actually it can be, but it does require some thought and planning on your part.

Motivation can and does come in many forms. Your friends are a wonderful source, but you have to choose friends wisely. You want and need to be around people that make you a better person and not hang with people who drag you down into their own pity parties. Someone who is positive and happy will be a good influence on you and keep you believing that tomorrow really can be better.

There is a limitless amount of motivation on the Internet for most anything and everything, especially athletics. I often just read some of the quotations that my positive Facebook and WISH friends have found and posted, to get my own head straight before going out to do my miles or going to work. If your in the right frame of mind everything goes better, the day just seems to flow.

Motivation must also come from within. You have to have dreams and goals that you want to achieve and a path that you can map with land marks along the way. They can be a certain body weight, times for going a specific distance or just finishing an event like a marathon. They can also be lowering your blood pressure, stress level, cholesterol and resting heart rate without drugs.

Many times during the day we have to make choices, the good choices are easier if your not looking for the easy way or the comfortable way. But each time we make the healthy choice we have made ourselves tougher and mentally stronger.

This is what I wrote on my blog this morning and I thought you needed to hear it Kimmer. So this is for you.

Rest/taper today for my uphill 10 miler in Louisville this weekend.

Vicky, ,my racing flats are Mizuno Ronin and weigh 6 oz. My heavy cushion trainers are about 12 oz.

Have a magical day y'all.

Dave:hippie:

Hi team! Hope everyone is having a great week so far! I believe we're 15 days out from the opening of registration for marathon weekend 2013! Decisions decisions!

Dave - Great post on motivation! I've found that unless I'm motivated myself, no amount of pushing will get me there. Whatever it is you're doing, you have to want it more than anyone else. But I also love those quotes and pictures that people post on FB :)

Kim - :wave2:  Don't forget to register for the 10K! (I'm just buggin' you!)

Rick - That is a great cause! Good luck with your fundraising! If you have vendors that you meet with on a regular basis at work, try hitting them up for donations. Usually companies will pitch in something like $250 each... at least that's been my experience.

Tandy - How's Harrison doing? WTG on a tough 13.1 miles! I have had sciatic pain before and it is no fun. Be careful! I'm trying to be a bit more careful with my knee but it's hard when you want to go outside and run! Well you know how it is :) When are you leaving for Europe?

Glad you're liking the blog posts

Lynn/Scott - Safe travels!

AFM - I registered for a local 10K. For a 10K, this is a pretty big race. Last year, there were about 12,000 people. The run is from midtown almost all the way down to the waterfront. I think with that many people, it's going to be shoulder to shoulder all the way down. I think this will be more of a fun run since it's a week after the half.

I worked out yesterday with my chiropractor and did a lot of glute exercises - band walking, deadlifting and some weighted lunges. The nice thing about working out with him is that he adjusted my back after the workout. It felt really good!

I took Regina's suggestion and started journaling my food again. It's funny how when I journal, I really don't want to include junk food in there. So I skipped out on dessert and ate a relatively healthy lunch and dinner. I made extra for my dinner and took the leftovers for lunch today - a salmon patty and baked butternut squash cubes. I'm also going to have a lentil soup, some baby carrot sticks and a pear. Hopefully that will keep me full until dinner.

Just curious ... how many grams of protein do you consume in a day?

Good Morning Team!

Vicky - We did get out for a ride on Sunday! Hope the knee quits acting up on you! Your blog is always interesting, we enjoy the postings here and on FB.

Dave - Good job overcoming the “cow day”!

Kim - PD for you Kim, whatever the cause was!

Tandy - Good job on your long run!

Regina - I have tried on many shoes in my career - I still come back to the Ascis - I have even returned a pair or two when they really hurt my feet or knees after some use. Somehow, they all feel fine in the store, it is after I wear them for awhile that I notice the problems.

AFM - We had a good bike ride on Sunday, 17 miles, yesterday winds up to 60mph so no bike ride. Today we are headed to Denver, doing last minute packing, fighting with airlines (thought we had bought free baggage program but not credited to us, so we will have to pay for our second bags on this one, will pack differently on future trips), will take dogs to kennel on our way to Denver. I will be off line for about 2 weeks, so have a great 2 weeks all!

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

Morning team!

It's official! I signed Ken and myself up for the ToT 10 miler last night! The ToT is my number one favorite attraction in all of WDW, so when I heard about this race, it was a no brainer for me. Convincing Ken took a little doing, but now we are in.

Went for a brief run on Sunday. Tweeked my knee a bit, so resting up yesterday and today. Going to try it again tomorrow. Also we have company coming tonight for supper, so there is much to do indoors to get ready for that!

Eva...WL is our favorite resort as well. One of the bribes I used to get Ken to agree to the ToT 10 miler was that we would stay at VWL, even though it isn’t an official resort.

Vicky...….Isn’t it great when you find unexpected cash like that?!

Dave...…Your post on motivation was helpful to me too. I have found that I really need to have a goal in mind in order to keep up with exercise/training.

Have a great day everyone!

Mary - We had looked to the ToT race and moving our vacation week so we could do that and a day of the Food and Wine festival, but it just wasn't working for us money wise and everything. I really did want to do that race too (even if I am expecting...I figured I could walk it). That's my fav ride too!! Your trip sounds like my dream trip...lol!! You will have a BLAST!! :cool1:

Lynn - Hope you guys have a fantastic time cruising!!!

Vivky - I use My Fitness Pal for journaling when I find myself slipping on the nutrition too. I don't count protein though...or fats. I get too discouraged if I have to watch too much of everything. I try to keep it set to lose 1/2 a pound a week and I find I do better that way then 1 lb...because again, I get frustrated. That 10K sounds fun...wish we had a big one around here!!

Dave - Good luck on the 10 miler this weekend!! :woohoo:

Rick - Thanks for the link...we will donate as soon as we can. I too have had family affected by breast cancer. The cause is close to my heart.

Kim - HI!!!

Tandy - I'm sorry you had such a crappy run on Sunday. I remember my sister had sciatica when she was pregnant and she was in in lots of pain. My run went good. Took about 7 minutes off my PR. Too bad it wasn't an official time!

Regina - I wore my skirt and was fine!! I used to body glide and although I could feel the thighs rubbing they didn't have any chafing at all!! They have real short shorts under...more like boy shorts. No leg coverage at all. It was a New Balance skirt that I bought for $17 at Marshals marked down from $42 so I think I got a good deal! How did your LR go??

AFM - Just trying to stay healthy this week. Now the person I share an office with is sick with a cold so I am really trying to disinfect everything before I use it. Been trying to get 8 hours a night of sleep (which I NEVER get normally) and I have been using the neti pot morning and night as well as hot salt water gurgle. I am not allowed to have any vitamins, supplements or meds at all this week so I can't even "airborn" for a couple of days. So everyone send me some pixie dust to stay healthy!! I may or may not be on before the surgery. We are expecting storms here tomorrow and my work gets crazy with storms. Maybe I'll pop in on Friday night if I can. Til then... :grouphug:

Eva: Good luck and I'll keep you in my thoughts. I'm sure you'll be just fine on the sickness front with as many precautions as you're using. ;)

Mary: I too love ToT. Can't do the run thought. It falls during my school year, so out of luck. It's marathon weekend or nothing. Hope the knee feels better.

Vicky: Your dinner/lunch sounds wonderful. I am no longer a vegetarian but am only eating seafood. So, I'm always making fish. I had salmon and sweet potatoes and asparagus last night and loved it. Harrison even likes some fish, but he's still a typical kid. Any chance not to eat it and he'll take it. The 10k sounds fun, but I don't like those packed races. Give me a flat Kansas race with only a few entries anyday!

Lynn: Asics all the way for me too. I am now wearing the GT 2160s but will have to step up to the 2170s soon. Have a fabulous trip! Can't wait to hear all about it!

Dave: Thanks for the great insight. You know, I've often said that my lack of running friends really brings me down. Hubby doesn't run, no one else in my family runs and not one friend. I am so glad I found all of you to give me the motivation and encouragement that I need. :)

Kim: Hope everything is okay??????

Rick: Thanks for the link. I have not been touched by this disease (Thank you Lord), but so many have. I will make sure to forward this on to some of my family and hope that they can help support. I don't like doing these kinds of things online though. Could you PM me a way to send a check?

AFM: Just got home from school. I am happy to report that I am in no pain. I don't know why this silly problem is only affecting me when I run, but that's how it goes. I walked about 7 miles yesterday and no pain. I am hoping to get out tonight, but may not make it (calling for tstorms). I am going to try for a 3 or 4 miler tomorrow and we shall see what happens then.

Nothing much going on besides that. Harrison is still on crutches, but I think he's just milking it at this point. ;) I was supposed to hear whether I was accepted in to nursing school by April 1st, which means I would have to get my certified letter by Saturday. Nothing yet, so please, everyone pray or think good thoughts for me. I really need this in my life! :)

Hope everyone's having a good week.
