Hakuna Matata - Marching in like Lions!

Kimmer I hope your basement is ok also, that's your guest bedroom and I know someone who will be visiting there again. When I have my new princess I want to visit you, take a day trip to the falls and throw the old wedding ring into water from the cliff.

Margie, the half on the 27th is a run race but there will be a couple of us race walking it. The next race after that is the Ky Derby half in Louisville.

I'm taking a rest day, except for work, today and going to the Hockey game in Nashville with a race walker buddy. He decided I needed a guys night out. I will bore him with Panda stories of course.

Good morning everyone! Got out this morning and did 3.75 miles. Forgot about the DST and had to take my blinking light with me. The morning was nice and cool but not cold - really refreshing. Did an hour workout at the gym last night with more deadlifting, lunges, push-ups etc. Then had to go and "babysit" DF's grandma - she's bedridden and everyone else was busy.

Margie - Thanks for the stretches! I'll give 'em a try tonight. I also wish it was Friday already :)

Jennifer - Alice is one of my favourites too. I was never much of a traditional princess fan. Hope your stomach is feeling better today!

Kim - Flooding yikes! Hope your area stays dry :) How's your heel been feeling lately?

Sue - Tell DD that the Cheshire cat is pretty cool in the new Alice in Wonderland. I didn't really like the original Disney version but Tim Burton's version is pretty neat!

Have a great day everyone! Check back in later :wave2:

Dave you are more then welcome anytime, alone or with a friend!!!!!

Vicky, sorry to hear Nathaniels grandma is not doing well, lots of PD coming her way. Heel has good days and bad which is better then when I was training and doing Goofy it was always bad days;)

Good morning friends:goodvibes
Hope all is well. Yes we are having some major flooding, on the way in today I passed a man and his children going to their bus stop in a canoe, right down the middle of the road. Over the weekend we lost many trees and telephone poles around town. Strong surf. Saturday night had to bring son to back to Troy, what an adventure. Sleet and snow in the Berkshires. 40MPH on the Mass Pike. We did get to New Hampshire this past week for a visit with friends. Not a lot of snow, not enough for snowmobiling but we had fun.
Heading to Boston next week for work meetings~ dinner out I think ;)

Hello everyone!

Just got back from an outdoor workout, it's 60 here today! Ran 6/walked one for 42 minutes. Covered over three and a half miles. Birds chirping, people getting there pools and yards cleaned up, lots of dog walkers, bicyclists, and a few joggers. Spring is upon us!! :cool1:
I took it easy for the last few days without any workouts, only work. Went to the doctor, he confirmed it, I'm sick. I'm on antibiotics and sudafed. I kept my pace slow today as I'm still recovering!
--------------

Eva~ Cute baby! Were still working on number two!

Denise~ Glad you had a fun trip! Did you eat anywhere special? Do you have a favorite place to eat?

Jack~ The East coast weather can be tough, hang in there!

Robert~ Great job on the weight loss!:woohoo: Does the kilt still fit?

Dave~ Both myself and my current bride traded our old rings in for cash and put it in our Disney trip fund! Maybe we will spend it on a romantic dinner!!

Margie~ I'm on the road to recovery! Thanks for asking!!

Everyone else, keep moving and have a great day!

Great day in NH, went for some miles on a local trail (paved) Lots of people out and about. It was a great walk. Mark even went over the foot bridge that goes over the highway and the river. He's not thrilled with heights but knew I wanted to go just a bit further.

As far as my trip, I did my usual favorites, Mama Melrose, Yak and Yeti, and our new favorite, France. They had a fab meal (lunch for $20pp). Appetizer, entree and dessert. I had Lobster bisque, Queche and Creme Brulee. Mark had French Onion Soup, Mac & Cheese(gourmet kind) and Profiterolls(sp?) with ice cream. A very pleasant surprise considering you could get a Hot dog in the MK for $5. All of that food, hot rolls with butter, cloth napkins and tablecloths, I think the best deal in the world.

We also tried their Grand Manier Slush and the Grey Goose Lemon Slush one night. Love them both but my favorite is the Lemon. We also ate at the Brown Derby but we felt the food was ok and over priced. I make rack of lamb and make sure we get a healthy portion of lamb. Their rack was 2 chops. While tasty, That is not a rack!

I'm sure their are other things, but for now I'm sure your drooling over the above menu.

Take care, time for plain pasta and veggies, my how things change in a week!

Thanks all, my basement is fine, we live on one of the highest peaks in town so I think pretty much the town needs to be flooded out in order for my basement to be effected but I guess you never know.

HAPPY ST PADDY's DAY TO YOU ALL!!!!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

FYI: Just know inquiring minds want to know why we pinch those not wearing Green Today!

Its an American tradition... in the 1700s, They thought if you wore green, it made you invisible to the Leprechauns, which was good because they would pinch anyone they could see. So the pinching is to warn and remind you about the Leprechauns

Margie, I have done so many things with my feet I am not sure which works the best, what seems to be helping is the rolling a tennis ball in the instep of my foot. Also when I do a long walk after I do the ball rolling thing, then soak my foot in epsoms salt. Also just throughout the day I will put my feet against the front of my desk and try to drop the heel a bit and get a good stretch through the back of the leg and heel. I know that isn't much but it doesn't seem to be as bad as before but then again, my training is not as intense right now.

Kim

Good Morning Team & Happy St Patrick's Day.

Getting in a quick post at work which has been crazy busy. We have a meeting this morning to go over our work schedule to see how even more busy we are about to get.

Spring in finally here. I saw my first robin of the year.

Beautiful weather. It might even be shorts weather tonight.

Have a great day..............Sue

Just Work WOrk WOrk, .... Here.
At least our weather is nice today, snow on Thursday I believe, wait that is tomorrow...

Hi Guys.

Margie yes I do all my walking at proper technique reguardless of the distance, I even stayed legal the entire Goofy. It's a point of pride for me.

We did a hard 8 miles in 1:47:20 today, it was 40s and overcast.

Kimmer I went to my first hockey game last night with my best friend who is the horse ferrier. He played simi pro hockey for the Toronto farm team in the 70s. He went to Canada during the Vietnam war to avoid the draft. Now he is best friends with a retired military guy.

Jack's Beef Chili with Kidney Beans:cool1:
Makes about 3 quarts, serving 8 to 10
Good choices for condiments include diced fresh tomatoes, diced avocado, sliced scallions, chopped red onion, chopped cilantro leaves, sour cream, and shredded Monterrey Jack or cheddar cheese. If you are a fan of spicy food, consider using a little more of the red pepper flakes or cayenne--or both. The flavor of the chili improves with age; if possible, make it a day or up to five days in advance and reheat before serving. Leftovers can be frozen for up to a month.
2 tablespoons vegetable or corn oil
2 medium onions, chopped fine (about 2 cups)
1 medium red bell pepper, stemmed, seeded, cut into ½-inch dice
6 medium cloves garlic, minced or pressed through garlic press (about 2 tablespoons)
¼ cup chili powder
1 tablespoon ground cumin
2 teaspoons ground coriander
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1 teaspoon dried oregano
½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
2 pounds 85 percent lean ground beef
2 cans (15 ounces each) dark red kidney beans, drained and rinsed
1 can (28 ounces) diced tomatoes, with juice
1 can (28 ounces) tomato puree
Salt
2 limes, cut into wedges

We have all ingredients measured and laid out prior to starting, just makes it easier.

1. Heat the oil in a large heavy-bottomed no reactive Dutch oven over medium heat until shimmering but not smoking. Add the onions, bell pepper, garlic, chili powder, cumin, coriander, pepper flakes, oregano, and cayenne and cook, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables are softened and beginning to brown, about 10 minutes. Increase the heat to medium-high and add half the beef. Cook, breaking up pieces with a wooden spoon, until no longer pink and just beginning to brown, 3 to 4 minutes. Add the remaining beef and cook, breaking up pieces with a wooden spoon, until no longer pink, 3 to 4 minutes.
2. Add the beans, tomatoes, tomato puree, and ½ teaspoon salt. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer, covered, stirring occasionally, for 1 hour. Remove the lid and continue to simmer 1 hour longer, stirring occasionally (if the chili begins to stick to the bottom of the pot, stir in ½ cup water and continue to simmer), until the beef is tender and the chili is dark, rich, and slightly thickened. Adjust the seasoning with additional salt. Serve with lime wedges and condiments (see note), if desired.
We usually devide it into ziploc tubs, and freeze. So I can bring some to work, or if people stop over for a game, we just nuke it or crockpot it.
Hope you like it. :thumbsup2

Just a quick drive-by to let you know I am still kicking. There are problems in my DD personal life and I am being a shoulder and advisor and prayerful person right now.

Our farm hand is back, too. So, I am running errands, picking up supplies, and cooking and cleaning....alot! Things will get better.

Hope you are all doing well...from the brief glance it seems you are. Stay healthy, be happy.

See ya -- Connie

Connie, sounds like you are being the strong one there.

Denise, I can't wait to be back there eating at DisneyWorld. So many wonderful places. My new favorite is Ohana's.

I just had a pool workout this morning, that's all I had time for after spending the night in Nashville and driving home. I have to work a 12 hr shift today, Oh Goody.
