Hakuna Matata-Happy April

Dave:

One of my quilting buddies is heading to your area well at least I think it's near you. Paducah.... one of the best quilt shows in the world. If you ever have a chance to attend one of these shows and see what people do with fabric I highly recommend it.

She is on a fact finding mission and if it turns out to be something we could manage, a group of us may go next year instead of PA.

I'm sure there would be a lot of walking involved but mostly start, stop, stare kind of walking.

So how far are you and Erica from Paducah?

denise

We are about a hundred miles or so from there. If you do get over that way give us a call and we will drive up and meet you guys for dinner.

We are 60 miles north of Nashville and 120 miles south of Louisville. There is a good marathon/half marathon in Nashville called the Country Music. We will more than likely do that or the Flying Pig in Cincinnati next year.

I woke up weighing 166.2 this morning so I'm pretty happy about that. It looks like I'm going to flux back and forth between 165 and 166 this week. I started 7 weeks ago at 182.6 so I'm not complaining.

We went to see the new Ben Stien movie, "Expelled" yesterday, very thought provoking. It's a documentry and whistle blowing on the scientific community.

I'm off to the gym now for my dailey battle with the pudgy cells. Y'all have a great morning.

Hi Everyone,

I hope you are all doing well. I am OK.

I did my speed workout outside yesterday because the weather was too nice to be inside on my TM. I purposely over dressed by wearing a long sleeve shirt to try to imitate the warm weather we'll have at Minnie, not sure if it will help, but maybe.

I celebrated my bday this past Sunday by going out to watch the Women's Marathon Olympic Trials. It was just amazing to watch. The course was a loop that they repeated 4 times so I was able to see the runners 8 times by just walking across the median to the other side of the loop. These women were flying!! Deena Kastor won in a time of 2:29:35. The highlight of the race for me was seeing Joan Samuelson. She's 50 and finished in 2:49. She absolutely inspires me.

Have a great day everyone.

Joan has been inspiring a lot of us for years. She is a living proof that it's the spirit not the size of the person that counts. I have never had the privilage of watching her in person, I'm jealous.

Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't been around much this week! I had a busy weekend - two family dinners but I impressed myself by not overeating and eating more fruit for dessert instead of lots of cake.

My PT gave me the green light to go ahead and increase my running to 30 minutes. I still can't run the whole thing like I was doing last month but I am glad to be outside running! He still has me working on core exercises and they are getting tougher! But the good news is that I'm standing up straight and that's taken a lot of pressure off my knees and back.

Donna - I know that work life balance can get super crazy sometimes! Sorry you have to go but I hope to see you back when you have more time

Cindy - Happy belated birthday! :bday: I also wonder how I'm going to cope running in the hot Florida weather. I normally run first thing in the morning but I've been trying to change that to the early afternoon when it's a little warmer out.

Connie - Glad to hear your back is doing better and just in time for your race :goodvibes I've never thought about an inversion table before - is it just something you lie on or do you have to do a special type of exercise while you're on it?

Erica -Just wanted to say hi! I hope your feet heal quickly

Good Morning Team!

Erica - please do not feel bad about not being able to walk! I know that if any of the other of us were in your place, you would be more than happy to donate time to them! We are hoping for your return to regular walking, as I am sure you are too.

Got my walk in early this morning, before the wind picked up - but it was a terrible walk. I had no energy, could not keep up a decent pace, and could barely force myself to run at all. Today was supposed to be my speed work, and it ended up being the slowest walk I've done in months! I guess we all have bad days, and just need to put them behind us! If it is because I walked right after eating cereal, and before coffee, it is an issue I will have to work on, because in the summer, I will have to walk really early to escape the heat!

Happy belated Birthday Cindy!

I do well in warmer weather, as long as it us under about 80 degrees, at least when it is really cold here. Now that it is nice here, warmer weather may be more of an issue, we will just have to see. My first half marathon (last years Disneyland Half), it was 106 degrees before I finished the race! That did really slow me down, but I also feel that if I can manage in that heat, I can handle anything less than that!

Have a great day everyone!

Hey Guys!!! :grouphug:

Cindy So good to see your happy face...voice!! Happy Birthday and many, many more to come!!

Bunnyfoo HI! good to see you, too! An inversion table looks more like a funky cot than a tabe. You adjust to your heighth, lock you ankles in and lean back. You will hanging upside down! Its really pretty fun, takes pressure off your back and stretches out. In some people it actually helps to lower blood pressure. My osteopath recommended it for DH and me, both.

Lynn Yes, I think we all have stonkers now and then. I hope you don't have to face too much hot weather!

Donna I am so sorry to see you leave. I would be willing to donate miles to you for a while if that would help. If it wouldn't, come back as soon as you want. There will always be room for you!

Erica Taking the time to heal your feet is very important. We are glad you are improving.

Well, guys, I'm back at it. Just took a break. I have a 1/2 this weekend and Kathy will be here Friday! I have a million things to do, since I was at the One room School yesterday. I will post some pics when we get back, if I can figure out how. See ya!

Hi Erica, how are you.......long time no chat. Glad to hear you are on the mend!!!!!

Hi, everyone!

I had another one of those "I could have sworn I posted" things on Sunday. I am sure I meant to send it, but it somehow didn't make it.....confusing.

Cindy - Happy belated birthday!

Donna - sorry to see you go! Like Connie, I'd be happy to donate miles and hours for you, if that would help. If not, I understand. I'll look forward to "seeing" you again in the future!

Kim - great to see you back!

Denise - I hope your neck is doing well!

Vicky, Margie, Dave, Scott and Lynn - Hi!

Erica - how nice to hear from you! I hope your feet are healed SOON!

I know I'm forgetting teammates, but it IS after 8 pm when I turn into a pumpkin!! LOL!

Well, I think I'm all packed and ready to go. I will leave early in the morning and head into work, work through my lunch hour and then start the drive to Connie's about 4. Of course, I won't make it to Connie's tomorrow - I will stop somewhere and get some sleep. I hope to be at her house by noon on Friday. I am very excited and ready to go! Connie has really been working on her speed, so I suspect I'll be eating her dust......But I'm sure she'll be waiting for me at the finish line! Connie - see you soon! :)

Talk to you after I get home!

Hi Kathy and Connie!

I hate to be hijacking your team thread but I wanted to let you know that I hope to see you this weekend. I'm looking forward to it even though I'm so NOT PREPARED! Yikes! When will you ladies be arriving in OKC?

Carry on, Hakuna Matata! - From a friendly, Super Goof spy. All trade secrets are safe with me. :rolleyes1

Good Morning Team!

Kathy - good luck on your race.

Today I am drinking my coffee before going out to walk, today should be a short walk as it is cross-training (pilates and wts) day, but if I feel good when I get out there, I may go farther than the 2-3 miles I am planning. The wind is supposed to pick up to 30-50mph by noon, so I cannot procrastinate too long. It is at about 15mph right now.

After all the nice weather we have been having, they are throwing snow into the forecast for Saturday! Springtime in the Rockies is SO MUCH FUN! :lmao:

Have a great day everyone.

Good morning team. I went outside and played this morning. It was 52 degrees, sun just coming up and a very light breeze.

I walked 4.5 miles on the hills at WKU, my time including a slow first mile to warm up was 56:30, for an average pace of 12:33 per mile. I felt so strong today, the stretching and calistetics with a sprinkle of core and pilaties thrown in is working wonders. I could have turned around and done it again.

I'm so pumped today, I needed this day in the fresh air. I can't wait to see everyone at the Mouse House.

Hi everybody!!!

Ya'll are doing great!!!

Have fun at the Minnie weekend for those going!! I'll be cheering you on!!

Good training and rest days for everybody!!

Erica:)

Hi eveyone! Haven't been posting much lately but I wanted you to know I'm still running. Had a great workout Tuesday and plan to get to the gym tomorrow.

Have a wonderful Thursday night!

Kristen

Work got Nutz lst week and I hope to get some miles in this weekend. Ready for the Minnie, nad really ready for WDW.

I am sorry to be MIA so much lately too but I have been seriously overwhelmed with many things. My 15 yr DS has prom this weekend and a big project I got roped into helping him for school AND we had to frame art for a gallery showing for him at church!!! :scared1:

I've shopped for new running shoes in the eleventh hour for the Minnie, trained in them and took them back to the store today :sad2: then got a new pair and will train in them on Saturday!!!

I am also frantically pulling my Disney Fairytale Vow Renewal together that we leave for on May 22nd. Plus, my employer actually expects me to work - the nerve of them

I really have been working out too although not as much as I like...

Good Morning, Team

Seems like we are all in the same boat with very busy schedules......work....home....training.
Add me to the group. Always something to do. That's why I make running so high up on the to do list. I really need that time to just clear the mind.
Another busy weekend coming up......cleaning...:laundy: ..packing......more training!

Have a great weekend......Sue

Good Friday morning everyone!!!!!!

Lots planned for the weekend, finishing up the back yard garden, we can plant shrubs etc, but no flowers yet. Still too cold at night. Got some grass seed put down yesterday. They are calling for rain for alot of our weekend which is good because we had 2 nice weekends so we where doing all outside stuff and the inside suffered so would be nice to get some of that stuff caught up.

Work is crazy, our office of 7 has been down to 4 all week so trying to keep afloat there as well.

Well hope you all have a awesome weekend!!!!

Kim

Happy Friday everyone! We're getting really close to the Minnie - this time next week, I'l be at the airport! I'm still running and doing core work. I really wish I had another month to keep training but I guess we'll see what happens.

I'm busy with work as well. It seems work always picks up no matter when I decide to take my vacation ... go figure!

Connie - One more question about the inversion table... If you're hanging upside down, do you get a strange feeling from all the blood rushing to you head?

Have a great weekend everyone!! :)

Good Morning Team!

Yesterday was a nice day, and my walk went well. I did 5 miles and without really pushing hard, I had a average pace of under 15:00! Great after the day before when even pushing it, my average pace was almost 17! I did get in my pilates tape and a bowflex session. Today does not look as nice, what we thought was a heavy frost on the ground this morning was really snow according to the weatherman. Today will not be warm, high in the 40's and it will be windy all day. I will still get out, good thing I am in "taper mode" for the Minnie - today is my long walk day, but I'm scheduled to do only 5 miles. That is just a normal walk for me. So, I will brave the cold and wind for the 5 miles.

Question:how much should you train in new shoes before using them to race in? I got a new pair of shoes, that I think are really comfortable, especially when I run in them. I am thinking of making them my "racing shoes". I've worn them for about 15 miles of training so far (3 days). Is that enough for any problems to show up? I still have a few more days of training that I could wear them for. Today I will probably go back to my "winter shoes" due to the cold and wind.

Erica - good to see you posting again!

We will also be at the airport this time next week, actually, we might actually be on the plane! Our vacation will start on Thurs., Scott is taking the day off, and we will go down to Denver early and spend the day playing at the zoo.

Everyone have a great day!
