Hakuna Matata - Gobbling up the road!

Hi everyone! Kind of a drizzly grey day today. Meet up with DF for lunch before he headed off for the day. Ate a pretty healthy lunch of Morroccan chicken soup, carrot sticks and a giant hunk of bread. I guess the bread wasn't too healthy but it was whole wheat so maybe that cancels out the giant part.

Worked out at the gym last night - did some glute activation exercises to get rid of the post race knee soreness. I'm planning to run 4 miles tonight and will probably take it easy.

Kim - pixiedust: for your heel! I'm planning on bringing the Tylenol too. Btw, aren't you loving this mild weather? Makes me think I should have registered for the full instead.

Margie - Thanks! Hooray for rest days :) You'll have to give me some of your tips for making it through LR for next year. I worry about those a little because I don't have anyone to run with.

Jennifer - Congrats on your PR!

Hope everyone enjoys the time off for Thanksgiving! I wish we had a holiday in Canada too... have a great day everyone! :wave2:

Hi guys.

I had a major training day today. Started with a strong 10K along the river trails with my walking group and then went home and got Erica and we did a 2 hour 9 mile walk together. I'm tired now.

Erica has been wearing the Mizuno Elixer shoes, very light and supportive. The walkers in Team Panda are all wearing the Mizuno Musha except me I'm wearing the Mizuno Ronin.

Have an awesome day.

Dave, WerePanda:hippie:

Hi TEAM! :wave2:

Oh, my Marathon Weekend is coming fast – can you believe there are only 5 more days in November! ::yes::

Gray and Dreary here too…but still good for training. I did my 3.3 miles this morning and then off to the doctor.

Hummm it seems like my BP meds are slowing my heart WAY down but not lowering my BP. So the doctor is changing my meds gradually. I developed a floating spot on my right eye this week. So my doctor said get in for an eye exam yesterday. :confused3

Vicky-I really enjoy my Rest Days! I do not like the long mileage for the same reason-Captain Connie suggested breaking it down and it worked get for the 16-miler. So my next 18-miler will be 4 ½ out 4 ½ back Quick Stop at home-potty, GU, Gatorade, and back out for 4 ½ out 4 ½ back. Just make sure the stop at home is quicker waiting in a line along a marathon route for a port-a-potty. :goodvibes

Vicky – what is the exercise you do for glute activation exercises?

:hippie: Nice workout-glad to hear you are getting some miles in! ::yes:: It is amazing that all of us require different shoes - no two a like! :rolleyes1

Scott & Lynn - sending you 'Wishes' for sunshine! :butterfly

Connie- Where are you - how did your 16-miler go? :upsidedow

Later...

Happy Thanksgiving to You and Your Families!
Enjoy all the Special Memory Moments...
Enjoy the delicious & abundant foods...
And if driving Be Safe!

Good Morning to our Canadian Team Members! :goodvibes

Hope you have at least okay weather for our First WISH Virtual 10K Turkey Trot in the morning! :woohoo:

With Very Special Thanksgiving for all of you!
Connie, Eva, Jack, Jennifer, Jen, Jesters, Kathy, Kim, MaryJ, Sue, Jill, Teresa, Terri, Vicky, And Dave & Erica, Denise & Mark, Scott & Lynn.

Hi team!

Went out for a slow 4 miler last night - I was running on the road with my blinky light and still almost got mowed over by someone not paying attention. I guess the situation is somewhat ironic. The guy was driving while on his cell phone so while he wasn't paying attention to what was going on, he wasn't really going fast either.

Planning on going to the gym tonight to do some speed work on the TM. I'm not really fond on the TM but it's usually dark by the time I get home (or leave work ugh!) so the track is out.

Margie - Now that I think of it, most of the glute exercises are some variation of a squat. We do the gobblet squat with a 25 lb weight, cable pull throughs (I think it's 40-50 lbs) and Bulgarian squats just body weight. There are two other exercises (that aren't squats) but I don't know the names of them. I'll ask for you on Thursday.

Dave - That's a lot of mileage! WTG!

Ok, that's all for me! I'll check in later! Hope everyone has a fantastic Thanksgiving!

Good Morning Team!

Another grey, dull day but no snow in the forecast so I'll take it.

Ran in the rain last night. Looks like tonight & tomorrow will be the same. Just can't face running on the tm.

Why do  people come to work? argh.

Happy Thanksgiving. Enjoy your day..........Sue

Happy Holiday!

Jack

Well said Jack, hope to be home by 8:30 ish tonight 10K Wish tomorrow, our weather should be good.

I want you all to have a great holiday.

Good Evening Team!

Margie - job is going well - I just got a "battlefield promotion" to supervisor, however I have no one to supervise yet. Eventually, I will supervise clerks working in the recruiting area. This will mean that I have a job for more than the 8 weeks I was originally hired for.

Training has not gone well - I get in a 1.27 mile walk in the morning with the dogs, and I did get in 6 miles last weekend, and we will be doing a 6.2 miler tomorrow, but that is as far as I have gone, and my pace is still in the 18 m/m range.

Have a great Thanksgiving all!

I will try to get back before another week has passed! But if I don't, have a great week all!

Up with the crows(if their still in NH) and having coffee. Our flight to WDW is at 11:35 but we have time for nails, packing and waking up.

Can't wait for early morning walks around the BW and all the other walking paths that we have access to.

I will continue to read and maybe since I"m on vacation have a few moments to post. It's been a stressful, joyfull and busy last 6 months and believe me, we really can use this vacation.

I wish all of you a happy, restful Thanksgiving and good luck as your final days of training come to a close.

Take care

denise

Happy Thanksgiving y'all.

Yes Denise it's been a stress filled year hear also and I'm not sure a vacation is enough to save my sanity.

Dave:hippie:

Happy Turkey Day one and All. have a good one, will be letting breakfast settle and then out for a 10K, then put up outside lights...

Be safe dont burn down the garage as you deep fry that bird.

Happy Thanksgiving to all my friends in the US! Hope everyone is enjoying the day off and eating lots of yummy treats! As for me, another day in the salt mines but at least its Thursday. Did some speedwork on the TM last night. I tried running some of the intervals at 8:00 m/m or faster and it was tough. But hopefully it will make me faster and I think of the calories burned off :) Tried to go running this morning but it was raining so that was a bit of a bust! Will do a slow 3 miles tonight at the gym after training.

I forgot to mention that there was a seat sale on Air Canada and I managed to extend our trip by an extra day in January!! We only had to pay the change fee which worked out to $105 for DF and I. I also downgraded our room category and used a 40% off PIN code so that our extra night only costs us an extra $10! Yay!!

Denise - Enjoy your trip! Hope it's relaxing and uneventful!

Dave - I hear ya! January can't come soon enough

Jack - Well said!

Lynn - Congrats on the promotion! That's a good thing right? :) Sorry to hear about the training and pace. Is your knee holding your pace back?

Have a great day everyone!

Jack-that was so nice!

Dave

Good Afternoon Team!

Happy Thanksgiving to you & your families. Hope you are enjoying lots of good treats!

Scott/ Margie, Nice work on the 10ks.

Lynn, Good news about your job promotion. Here are some more well wishes for your knee.

Almost done at work & heading home for at least 6 miles if the rain holds off.
Didn't want the tm last night so went to spin class instead.

Are there any "stick" users among us? Pros/ cons?

Have a great day..........Sue
