Hakuna Matata Chistmas Greetings!

It snowed here today, not too much but we are expecting a blizzard tonight so Miranda wants me to go and get my snowshoes so we can get out and walk with them. Now that should be a sight!

Connie, I never sent my miles/min for Nov and not much for Dec yet so I will take some time and do that asap.

As far as the pins, I'll round up all the names and give them to Mark so we can get them out asap.

I'm off now - heading for home - sliding all the way......:scared1:

We are home from the mountains.

Erica is really thrilled, she was a size 16 when we went there last December, this year she is a size 6. This is our wedding anniversary trip.

She of course got to make a Panda at Build a Bear. We went to the outlet stores and she got new undies and jammies at the Jockey outlet. She got some nice wicking socks, Danskin brand for $3 for 3 pair.

We just got in a 5 miler and a 10 mile walk while we were there, but we walked lots of miles around town. We had a room on the 4th floor and never used the elevator, so good stairs workout to get to and from room. The town is very hilly so good hill training even just wandering. We came home tired but happy.

All of the attractions had good military discounts so we saved a lot. Some had lesser discounts for retired military but most gave us full discount. A entry fee of $19.95 was cut to $1.99. It only cost us that for the aquarium and the Ribley's museum.

How is everyone doing?

Good morning Everyone!

It is so difficult to WANT to get in long walks and runs when it's so cold! And I am so out of shape that it makes it harder. I sympathize with everyone who is running shallow on motivation!

I have good news, all the prayers and PD helped. Turned out I was getting a cold sore. When I am getting one the dreaded things, I get all the symptoms of the flu. And just like the flu, I get serious aches and pains in the weakest part of my body, so my shoulder is still healing. It just is the weakest part right now. Hmmmmmm, was that good news or bad news???? :confused3

I missed my 2 miler this week, but I will do 3, today. and 5 tomorrow. It won't be so much for the week, but maybe I can make up for the 2 later in the week.

I feel I have really let the team down the last few months. However, I am grateful for all the miles and well wishes I have recieved.

Also good news, we are in a very close second place for minutes!!! Yea, US!!

Connie that is super news that your shoulder isn't reinjured. Yes for the weakest parts are the ones that sing the loudest. That's why most people have issues with shins and calves. The smaller muscles will often be left behind when you work the big ones.

Eva, we are so excited for you. Oh and Erica wore her new purple Jockey Jammies home from Gatlinburg. She did change before we went to dinner though.

Everyone have a super day, I get to enjoy another 12 hr shift.

Working Panda:hippie:

Morning team! I've got a 5 miler scheduled for tonight. I haven't decided if I want to run outside or use the TM. The weathe reports are calling for snow storms on Friday and Sunday! Yikes! I'm planning to do a 9 miler on Saturday - should be interesting :)

Erica - Congrats on the weight loss! What a difference a year makes!

Dave - Sounds like a great trip! $1.99 is quite the discount.

Connie - Glad to hear it was just a cold sore and not something more serious. I don't think you've let the team down at all. You're still recovering and you don't want to push yourself too hard and re-injure yourself. Besides you've been keeping track of our mileage and having to chase down certain people *ahem* (like me) who are always late in sending you a PM :cutie:

Denise - I guess that's the storm that's headed our way on Friday... :headache:

Lynn - How did your 20 miler go?

Ok that's it for me... I'll check in a little bit later!

Good Morning Team!

Well, I did not make the 20 miles yesterday, I did get in 11 miles – the first loop (I have to stop back at home to use the facilities, get more water and drop off dogs), and did not get back out for the second. I kind of crashed at mile 8.7, and knew I would not make it back out. At that point, I realized I had not been drinking enough – it is very difficult for me to drink in cold weather – it is physically very difficult to drink when your lips are numb, and I don’t seem to want to drink as much as I do in warmer weather. I felt better after forcing water down my throat. The cough does not bother me much when walking, after a short coughing fit at the beginning of my walk, I did not cough the rest of it! The bottoms of my feet really hurt, my left foot still does – no blisters, just big red spots! Once I got home, I realized that I was really cold, on the last mile against the wind, my eyeballs froze, they hurt and I was having trouble seeing! The temp was 33 degrees, winds 13 – 17 mph, wind chill of 15 degrees. I guess that is too cold to spend 3 hours out in! I guess I will have to attempt my 20miler on the treadmill – but I go so slowly on the treadmill, it will probably take me over 7 hours to finish! My pace up the the 8.7 mile mark was right at a 16 m/m.

Erica – a size 6! That is fantastic!

Connie – good news – I think? And do not think you have let the team down!!! You have done alot of work as capt!

Dave – PD for your 12 hour day!

Have a great day everyone!

First off...party: for the :wishsize10 Erica!!! That's outstanding!!

This is just a quick pop in...had a really good run this morning. I ran a warm up mile and then hit the streets for my own personal 10K. I made it in 55 minutes and 23 seconds. Pretty darn good for me! When I have good runs it gives me a little umph to ge me excited for the marathon. I really needed that after my 20 mile flop. Hopefully it won't ice up too bad on Saturday night I really need dry roads for Sunday morning!!

Lynn - Don't push yourself towards that 20 miler if you aren't well. You will be just fine if you make it for a 16-18 miler and a VERY slow pace. We need you healthy for that Mouse Medal!!

Dave - You have inspired me to look into some new PJs. I will want them for the lounging that I'll be doing come January!!

Everyone else...keep warm and healthy...Marathon Weekend is right around the corner!!! :yay:

:wave2: TEAM!

We have snow, A Winter Storm Warning says we could get 11-12 inches more today & tomorrow along with sleet & ice. Not too many times when the temperature stayed in the - zero range :cold:

No shoveling this morning, so I did get to the gym for 16 miles on the bike. Need to go back tonight for one of the weight workouts. :rolleyes1

Erica - Congratulations on the weight loss - that is absolutely fantastic in a year! :wishsize10 Can't wait to meet the 'New Tiny You' in January. :goodvibes

Dave & Erica - Happy Anniversary! :lovestruc

:hippie: Glad your trip was good & you managed to get in a couple of training walks when you were not shopping. :lmao:

Connie - pixiedust: PTL it was not additional damage to your shoulder!
What do you mean 'I feel I have really let the team down the last few months?' Oh Bother - The little bit we give back does not even compare to the time to put in being our Faithful Captain!

Lynn - pixiedust:

Denise have fun with the snow shoes - Hummm maybe I should think about that

Good Morning Team!

I was up early, I was supposed to leave by 8:30 to get Scott at Denver airport at 10:30, last I heard, he was still on the runway at Detroit! Haven't gotten a text message for awhile, so he may be in the air now. He has missed his connection from Minneapolis/St Paul to Denver, so now I do not know when he will be in.

Eva - I did do an 18 miler about a month ago, but that was when I was healthy. I don't feel too bad, but I know I am not at 100%. I actually cough less when walking than when sitting at home!

Margie - Thanks for the PD!

Have a great day everyone!

I made it to MSP and missed my connect, booked on a later flight in NWA Club room, a god send these room are. Seemed busy with folks traveling fr the first tiem, lots of confused folks out there.

Good Afternoon Team.

We are having some nasty weather today. Lots of snow accompanied by high winds. Very quiet in the office. I commute via train & have already received notice of many cancallations for tonight's rush hour. We are heading home a little earlier.

How are the other northeners making out? Eva, Margie, Denise.

I will have to see how this weekends training unfolds. More snow on Sunday. Just don't want to do a long run on the treadmill.

Have a great weekend, happy training.......Sue

Funny you should mention it, we were just told to leave at 2:30 today as it's starting and he wants us all home safe before it gets bad.

Sue - The weather that Denise is getting is what came though last night for us. Ice, ice and more ice on top. It's supposed to stay decent for the next day and then more nasty stuff tomorrow night. Too bad I don't have tomorrow off to do my 20 miler...I'll just have to see how bad it is on Sunday. I might not be able to do the "test run" that I wanted to do at 6am on Sunday, but if it's better mid-day I'll get out there then. I don't care what time or what day...I WILL get my 20 miler in (and hopefully on safe roads)!!

Everyone in my office is sick...trying not to get this cold that's going around.

BTW...I know we've gone over this before, but who are our half and full marathoners this year? If I remember...
Dave and Erica are both doing the Full
Scott - Goofy and Lynn - Full
Vicky - Half
Denise - Half
Sue - Half
Me - Full

Who an I missing??

Good morning guys.

We are closing in on our big trip. Is everyone ready?

Erica and I will arrive under trained for distance but in good health with nothing hurting. We are hoping that and being several pounds lighter will carry the day.

We are in corral E for the marathon, anyone there with us?

Have an awesome day y'all.

Party Panda:hippie:

We got a lot of snow last night and more to follow tomorrow I think we have about 8 inches now and expect 6-10 tomorrow. It will be a white Christmas.

All of you that are going out running in this weather? I'm sure by now your legs and stamina are fine. PLEASE listen, if you fall down now chances are that you won't recover in time for the Marathon. This is the voice of experience speaking. I fell in Disney in Nov. and my side and ribs are still recovering. Of course going to PT has helped but last night after a 1 hour session, I was a hurting girl. I can certainly walk with my side the way it is and I have 3 weeks more of recovery so I'll be fine but taking a chance now after all our hard work and continued miles is not worth it.

Lynn, you need to fully recover from your cold. Give you body a chance to heal.

I felt like such a slug the last few days and saw my ever expanding waistline so I broke down and bought a WII and now I'm on the hunt for a wii-fit. Miranda will come over next weekend and let me borrow hers. But outside walking? Nope, I've learned my lesson. It will be some treadmill work for a bit and some elliptical but no long miles on either. My legs are very strong and I'm hoping that they will carry me through next year with less difficulty than this year. I was a tad sore the next day.

Well, I have final shopping to get done. A Dozen bottles of Bailey's to make and start the cleaning process. I've already told the family that this will be my final Christmas dinner. Next year - their on their own. Dinner for 20 in my tiny house is hard and I"m not in the mood anymore. I'd love an intimate dinner with my kids next year. PJ's all day and the Disney Parade. Now that sounds like heaven!

So, I'm off to the shower, the store and then final prep for the holiday.

Take care everyone, put up your feet - you've worked for a year on this, you can do it!

Good Morning, TEAM! :wave2:

Sue- all area school & even the colleges where closed yesterday. We had the snow, high winds, blowing snow, sleet, ice - roads are still a mess - sidewalks impossible for walking, so it is the DM today. The drive & walk need to be cleaned again. :cold:

:hippie: Not Ready-I too am under trained, but don't have the added bonus of lighter and no injury. I am cautious as my ankle is still a tad swollen. :headache:

My little Hagen has been sick with the flu - hoping I do not catch it!

pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:
Connie - Lynn - Denise

Eva- hope you have good roads for your long run - I am doing the half. :upsidedow

Trying to talk myself into getting with it and getting down to the basement to face the DM. I know if I don't do it before shoveling I will not do it! :headache:

Denise - Thanks for the advice! I am heading out for my 9 miler soon. I tried to wait and see if it would warm up but it's -16C (3.2F) and I doubt that will change much. We got a lot of snow last night but most of it has been ploughed. I'll bet there's ice underneath so I will definitely go slower. Don't worry if you don't find a Wii-Fit ... it's cute but the novelty wears off after a while.

Eva - Good luck with your 20 miler tomorrow! I'll keep my fingers crossed that the snow stays light or better yet away completely. I believe that Kim is doing the half, I'm not sure about her DH Mike.

Sue - Hope you were able to make it home with minimal delays. My group left around 10:30 AM. I definitely don't want to do the TM - so I'll try and head out today. At least it's sunny!

Margie - :wizard: for Hagen! I hope he gets better soon!

Dave - I think I'm under trained too! I was hoping to have run at least 11 miles by now but I'm probably going to start tapering next week. I'll be in corral B for the 1/2 but am thinking of moving myself back one.

Have a great Saturday and keep warm today everyone!

Hi y'all.

Today is a rest day for me and a sleep in for the princess. She will wonder out in a few hours seeking a hug and coffee.

Connie, thank you for being our team captain. Let me speak for the team in saying we love you and hope next year is bunches better for you. I know you have been down but you are never a give up gal.

All you northern folk, stay warm and remember the sun will be shinning on you soon.

Have a super day everyone.

Hello team!

Well..the 20 miler is done. I ended up leaving work early yesterday and heading out there around 4:45. It was dark, windy and cold...but much better than the ice and high winds that are out there today. With the wind chill it's 6 degrees right now and the winds are gusting up to 37 miles an hour (with gusts down to -10). :scared1: I feel good today beside what I believe to be extensor tendinitis that I have gotten on my feet. It hurt so bad that when I made it home last night I was in tears. As with my bursitis in my hip...I've read that the only way to heal is complete rest. I'm hoping the taper helps, but no rest for the wicked!! pirate:

Margie - I didn't know you were doing the half...how is your training up there in Michigan going?? I swear this will be my last Disney marathon (at least running) because the weather has been so horrid. I will look for ward to doing the Cleveland marathon and Detroit marathon (those will be my next two). Much better training conditions!

Dave - How have things been your way? I will be in corral D...maybe we could meet up by the separation barriers?

Vicky - Hope it warms up for you. I HATE THE COLD! :cold:

To the rest...should be about time to taper!!! Rest up...we have a vacation to go on!! :cool1:

Good Morning, TEAM! :wave2:

Connie - What :hippie: said tooooooooooooooo! :goodvibes

Eva - sure hope you are not experiencing our weather and if so you plan your run with the wind always behind you!

Winter Storm in progress - cold, snow, drifting - everything is canceled today. But did get to listen to our Pastor online this morning. :goodvibes

This week is going to be an actually Winter WONDERland. :lmao:

Go figure DD wants to go shopping. What-I cannot even get out of the driveway. We have such high winds it would be non productive for me to spend hours trying to clean the drive. The last I checked we were -15 Windchill and that is just a Tab Bit Chilly. :cold:

Merry CHRISTmas, The Best Gift of All, Stay Safe, Stay Warm, and Enjoy the Moments!

Under Protest a Forced walk on the DM today!
