Hakuna Matata - August Days and Nights!!

:cheer2: Congratulations, Jennifer! :cheer2:

Erica, what is your favorite running skirt? :upsidedow

:hippie: I have about 6 miles on my Brooks Mach X - they are my very first pair of racing flats. Oh, My they are soooooooo light weight. But you are correct it still too soon to tell with my current PF issues. I did get lots of wonderful advise on PF on a separate thread that really has helped me a lot.

Jennifer, You ROCK!!!

Dave Dress Blues very nice, pretty special for sure, be proud as I know ya are of your lovelky Princes.

Too tired to post pics of the basement built bookcases today.

Watching the Mens Marathon, wow those guys are fast.

Eva, I ordered the Earth shoes from www.sierratradingpost.com - they have not arrived yet. And yes, Lynn I wore them years ago too and had been trying to find them locally and no one knew what I was talking about!

Sierra Trading Post - that is my favorite store - I discovered them when they were still in Sparks, NV - they have now moved to Cheyenne - so the store is now right around the corner - so to speak!

Congrats Jennifer!

I did a 3.8 mile walk this morning while Scott was running - then we spent the afternoon building bookshelves! It will be great fun when they are finished and I get to stain them :lmao:

Time for bed! Talk to you all later!

Good Morning, Team!

Lynn-that is so Kwel having it around the corner. It seems I have to buy over the Internet more and more. It would be nice to just go to a store, check it out, and try it on first.

Foot feels some what better this morning :goodvibes
I did a lot of walking yesterday just going from parking garage to store to store trying to find the short ankle length Strasboug Sock. I have a medical supply place where I can check on Monday. I did purchase a Foot Rubz Ball (rubber massage ball with little spikes on it) that works much better for me than the golf ball. Used it last night then iced :goodvibes

Taking my walking shoes to Gazelle Sports after church to try out different orthoics. :upsidedow

Enjoy your walks/runs/cross training/and rests today! :cloud9:

Yes, the open door is to the exercise room, that is where we are storing our medals!

Hi Team!!

Margie, I love that ball! I use even now to massage tired feet. And I pack it on vacations so that I can have a foot massage after a long day of walking!

Btw, Dave and Scott, I have the marathon and the travel stick. I pack them both when I travel because they have a different feel. The marathon stick is more bendable. I haven't tried carry one in a carryon, I am afraid the airport security will snag it. But the travel stick is great for checked race bags!!!

Jennifer - Congrats!! Awesome!

Scott and Lynn! Beautiful bar, when do you open???

I haven't been working on my gym. :sad2: Jon decided that he needs to rip down all the drywall and put in insulation, first. So, I am still in the planning and buying stages. (the more he procrastinates, the more I can plan AND buy!) I ordered my fitness wall charts and some equipment, yesterday. I got a comprehensive stretching wall chart, dumbbells and resistence tubing wall chart. I also got a good mat, stability ball and digital BMI calipers which promise you can measure your own BMI! I still need to get some sort of shelving to hold stuff. AND I will have a nice TV in my gym. We have decided to buy ourselves a flat screen for Christmas. :cheer2: I guess I will have to get some sort of furniture, too, the grandkids will think it's a cool place to hang out. I am think bean bag chairs!

Y'all make a great weekend!

Hi Team!

Scott & Lynn awesome basement – truly looks great! :thumbsup2

Connie is your surgery scheduled?
Impressive Gym in progress! :thumbsup2

Connie, I was amazed at the difference between the golf ball and the Foot Rubz Ball - I purchased a second one to keep in the ball for traveling.

I went to Gazelle Sports after church to have them check my shoes, inserts, etc to see what would help my foot – ended up with new shoes, the Brooks Ariel’s? She said my current shoes were completely worn out and I should not be wearing them – I did not think I had them that long, but I cannot find where I wrote it down. While I was in there a guy recommend a foot massage therapist for PF-said he had the shots, etc but this was what made the difference - anyone had this type of massage?

Connie, we have made it through airport security with our Stick, it was right after the DL 1/2 last year.

Your gym sounds very well planned out, keep planning and getting those goodies, and it will come together nicely

Had a tuna pannini for diner, very good.

Good Morning Team

I spend all day yesterday, cooking and food shopping. I'm working on that whole Once a month cooking so that I can relax some nights during the week when I'm too pooped to do anything other than turn on the oven.

Mark was working on the deck with Nick putting up railings so that the old ladies or a tipy bride to be won't fall off the sides at the shower. It was a busy day but I'm glad I gave my hip a rest, doing much better today and I did sleep pretty good too but that may have been from exhaustion.

I'm here at work at 7 am so I'll sign off till later.

Here is a link to our local racewalker that is just back from the olympics.

Denise, we tend to cook on the weekends and have leftovers for teh week, A month at a time, wow now that is some planning. Wish we were closer I would have helped with the deck rails.

Got a run on this morn pre dawn, I gotta work on my flashy light to attach to my belt.

Just a few days of work left then DL and DCL and WDW, How KEWL is that. I am ready for a break.

Good morning everyone! Hope everyone had a great weekend! We had great weather here - warm and sunny! Although it was a little too hot for running. I watched the men's marathon on Saturday and was cheering on the Americans and the Kenyans (where are the Canadians :confused3 )! I was surprised to hear that some of the runners hadn't run too many marathons before.

I also went shopping with DF because he's lost weight and needs new clothes. I noticed that most of the stores for men don't have chairs or a lounge area like they do in the women's store. We also went shopping for eyeglasses which was fun!

Lynn/Scott - The bar looks awesome! I made your babotie recipe again on Saturday. I love the smell of the spices :goodvibes

Connie - It sounds like you're building a real gym and not just a home gym! Can I sign up for a membership?

Jen - Congrats on another great race! And yay that you beat that girl from the last race. I remember your story about her.

Margie - How's your foot doing?

Dave - I picked up a travel stick on the weekend. I decided that I didn't have room for the foam roller at home. I didn't have a chance to try it out but DF used it on his shoulder and really likes it!

Good Monday Morning!

Where did the weekend go? Not enough time to get everything done.
Shopping, laundry, back to school prep.....etc....

It was a hot & humid weekend. Out early both days for a 3+ & 7 miler before it got too unbearable.

Pilates tonight.....happy training....Sue

Hello team.

I meet with the fitness club people in about an hour and a half, I'll let y'all know what that involves this afternoon. it still blows me away that I've become proficient enouth at my sport that a business chain is interested in me representing it at races and while I'm training. This might just be the beginning of the road to my goal of making walking a main stream sport like running.

Wouldn't it be cool if all the shorter races had a seperate walk catagory with awards for walkers. Most races consider walkers as "just in the way", I'm all about changing that. We have that here in my town now but if I can get it to spread......:cloud9:

I did a short workout this morning, 2.5 mile walk, weights and stretching. I'll do more walking after the meeting since I'll be at the club anyway.

Glad you like the stick, I need to get one myself soon, before Disney anyway. The rubber rolling pin doesn't travel will.

Have an awesome day y'all.

Good Morning Team!

Dave - good luck with your meeting today!

Our new stick should arrive today, I am anxious to try it, I do like the long stick we got at the DL Expo last year, but a shorter one would be easier to travel with. As I remember it, the stick we got at the DL Expo was much cheaper than they are being sold for normally. It is the original one, I think, and I remember paying in the realm of $25 and I have seen them on Amazon for close to $50. If you are going to one of the Disney races, or maybe even another larger race, it the Stick people are at the Expo, it might be the place to pick one up.

The dogs and I did 6 miles today - today I would not have beat the sweepers! I only walked, no running, still trying to save my knees, as they hurt more when I run, I am assuming they would be hurting more if I had continued with the running segments. I have a feeling that this will not be a fast 1/2 marathon - but the good news is that the forecast is calling for highs in the mid 80's - not over 100 like last year!!!

Better get busy, have lots to do today! Have a great day everyone!

On more problem but not walking related. I seem to have a new issue, they do keep cropping up - that whole age thing. My ring finger on my left hand gets "locked" in the bent positon - it's called Trigger Finger.

Anyone have this? I've been bending it backwards stretching it and it seems to help but it still gets locked.

Advice would be helpful. Sometimes I wake up in the night and have to straighten it out. It hurts a bit too.

denise

Yikes, Denise! Sounds awful
I bend all my fingers together back wards as an exercise due to arthritis in my thumbs. I think too many years of writing & typing. I do not wear any rings when I walk because my hands swell.

Thanks, Vicky - my foot is some better. It is still swollen and you can see the knot. I think I am doing everything that I am supposed to do.

My Earth Shoes came this afternoon, so I have been wearing them around the house and my legs are tired!

:hippie: We are WAY eager to hear how the fitness club meeting went! :cool1:
