Sally and I are back together. The job market in Nashville is no better than here so Sally realizes that now. As Walt said, "Keep moving forward".

We are off to do a training walk shortly. Going to be an awesome day here today, in lots of ways.

Looks like we have quite a few people racing this weekend:thumbsup2 Go Gerry, Mike, Nikki and Margie!!

May
7 - I Drive 5K, Orlando, FL - Gerry
7 - Expedition Everest Challenge - Mike
8 - Kalamazoo Marathon / Half, Kalamazoo, MI - Nikki, Margie

Hello team!

Good luck to all the weekend racers!

Mike - WTG on your races this past weekend!

Kim - Congrats on your scale move!

Regina - I hope your trip to Idaho goes well.

AFM - It was a busy week for us. We got in a run on Tuesday but haven't been out since then. I didn't feel the run went that great, but it was also above 90 deg that day. I had a softball game on Wednesday, which we lost, but I at least managed to score one run. Last night, we saw the play God of Carnage. It starred James Gandolfini, Jeff Daniels, Marcia Gay Harden, and Hope Davis. We both enjoyed it. Today I have to run errands and once Patrick gets home from work, we'll go for a run.

Have a good day,
Emily

Happy Monday team! Thought I'd give our thread a bump back up to the top :) Just a PSA since the weather seems to be warming up for most of us, remember to wear your sunscreen even if you're only going for a short run.

Emily - Sorry to hear about the softball game! Any chance of a rematch in the near future? How did your run with Patrick go?

Dave - Glad to hear you and Sally are together again! Has Sally looked into being a virtual assistant? I was reading last year that they're more popular now.

Regina - I thought 'Fast Five' was fun! I didn't care that much for Dwayne Johnson but everyone else was great! Hope Sydney is feeling better! I wonder if it was the heat or maybe something she ate. Safe travels and check in when you can. Hope everything is okay!

Elizabeth - Hope you're able to make it to marathon weekend in January! Keep us posted :) I always wanted to go to Hershey, PA. They have a half marathon there in October but it always seems to conflict with other races. One of these years I'll make it there ;)

AFM - I decided to make my mom a cheesecake for Mother's Day. I figure it's one of the few times I get to make something sweet! I finish mine only to discover that she's made one as well. I asked her why she made it and she said because it's Mother's Day! I said that's like making a cake on your birthday... D'oh! So if anyone likes cheesecake, I have a whole lot LOL I'm probably going to freeze it so I'm not tempted to eat any.

I got in a couple of short runs on Saturday and Sunday. My knees were hurting a bit so I wasn't able to go very fast. I've got a quick training session tonight and will ask my chiro about them.

Hope everyone is having a great day! :wave2:

Our weather has turned hot and humid today. From horrid endless rain to hot and humid, but that is more normal summer weather for the south. We should be hot and humid now till about Oct.

Sally and I got out for an hour training walk. Then we went hunting for a throw rug for the back door. We have hardwood in the living room and dining room so we are had to get a couple of big rugs and a couple of throws.

Have an awesome monday team.

Hello, everyone,

Dave: Glad to read about you and Sally.

Mike: Can't wait to read about Everest; I saw your FB post but I hope you'll share some details here!

Regina: Hope your trip is going well.

Vicky: Put me down for the January half! I still haven't given up on the Wine and Dine but I haven't registered for it either.

How sweet of you to make a cheesecake for your mother. Those are never quick or easy to make. Think she won't make one next year, expecting you to make it? ;) That's how it works at my house: we have too much or none at all.

Emily: Hope the weather was good enough for a weekend run. Our weather was perfect and I got in a good one on Saturday evening.

Gerry: How was the race?

Nikki and Margie: Hope you had a good race too!

Enjoy the week, everyone!

IDrive 5k run by track shack--same people that run the Disney races. Basically around the convention center. I think they announced 1300. My race was to a) get there b)race c)be at work back in Celebration by 9a. So, after racing, had 10 hr training day learning more about the Disney Cruise Line.

Oh, Sunday got a tour of the Disney Dream--very impressive!

Hi everyone!

Dave....So glad to hear that you and Sally are back together. I think Vicky's idea about a virtual assistant might be a good one. I have a friend who uses one and he doesn't know what he did without her!

Mike....thought about you over the weekend. Hope you had a better Everest experience than I did. (Can you say "monsoon"?)

AFM: I went out on Sunday for a 2 miler. Waited too long in the morning, so it was quite warm, but did it anyway. Ken and I went for a little more than 2 miles walk last night. Again, it seems like summer came on overnight and it was so muggy! I can see now that training for the DL half during the summer is going to be an entirely different animal than training during the fall for the Jan. half.

Ken and I are still sitting on the fence about coming down for marathon weekend. We have plenty of Donald medals, but we do think that the marathon relay and the Chip and Dale medal sounds cool. Guess we'll see in a few weeks how we're feeling once the real training starts.

And finally, we are headed to WDW on Friday for a quick weekend trip. We will be joining our daughter and her husband and the two grandgals who will be arriving tomorrow. This will be the first trip for the grandgals and I can't wait to see the looks on their faces! I spoke to the oldest (she's 3.5) yesterday and she told me all about how she was going to see Mickey and fairies and princesses! Her parents only told her about the trip on Sunday afternoon, so she is plenty wound up!

Mary: Have a wonderful trip with the grandgals!

I remember our first trip with our daughters. My youngest truly believed that Cinderella lived in the castle so she kept trying to see her at one of the windows so she could ask for a sleepover. We were worried that my oldest would cry at Wishes because she was terrified of loud sounds, crazy scared. I tried to prepare her by telling her all about the show and planning a quick escape route. Once it started she looked at me with wide-eyed amazement and said, "Mommy, these aren't loud fireworks, these are just my wishes coming alive." Best vacation of my life.

Gerry: Wow, a 5k and then 10hr training session. Even if it is DCL training that is a rough schedule.

AFM: No run for me today because it is my oldest daughter's 10th birthday. Too much baking to do this morning. I'll get out there early tomorrow before work.

Good morning Team.

Well gas finally hit $4.00 a gallon here yesterday, been dreading that but figured it was coming. I'm afraid it will continue to rise till we are in the same price range as our Canadian friends.

This is group walk morning and my hardest workout of the week. I look forward to it though, it's a chance to see and talk with great friends. Last week when we went out it was 36 degrees this week it's 68 degrees, crazy the temperture changes this year. We have had to use heat and air conditioning in the same day some days.

Hope everyone is doing good. Sally and I are doing good now and plan to keep it that way. She had two good job interviews this week.

Dave:hippie:

Good morning team! Hope everyone is doing well!

Dave - That is assuming the gas prices in Canada stay the same and they just keep going up and up :( I would have loved to have done a road trip of some kind this summer but gas prices are too crazy! Sending some pixiedust: and thinking good thoughts for Sally on her interviews!

Elizabeth - Happy birthday to your DD!! What kind of treats are you baking today? Not sure why she made it... to be fair, I wanted mine to be a surprise so I never said anything to her. I found a recipe for a red velvet cheesecake which I want to try next. I love red velvet anything! I've updated the race schedule to include your races :)

Mary - I always forget that in the spring and summer, it's better to get out early for a run because of the heat. Did you know there is a special anniversary edition of the Donald medal this year... Kim is doing the half on Saturday and the relay on Sunday. Just saying... ;) Enjoy your trip to WDW! It's always fun to go with kids, especially on their first trip! Safe travels!!

AFM - Went out for a run last night, kept is slow so that I wouldn't irritate my knees and ankles. It's really nice being able to run later in the day and still have lots of light out. I wanted to use my patella strap but I seemed to have misplaced it after January :( Not sure what's going on with the knees (aside from the weight gain LOL) but I'm going to try running in my NB 769 again and see if the extra support helps. Right now I'm wearing Asics DS trainers which are lighter and closer to a neutral shoe. Anyway I'll try and get out again tonight.

Vicky quit with the weight gain talk, you can't miss a meal now and live your so lean. Eat you a big steak and potato. Hope that knee feels better though.

Sally and I could lose a few pounds and be better for it though, but ummm we are going out for dinner at Cheadders and have the famous chicken tender platter. Yum.

My training walk this morning was awesome 6.8 miles in 1 hr and 24 min but working out in the heat I was drained after I got home and cooled down. I did however mow the yard after and trim. Then I needed a nap.:cloud9:

How is everyone addapting to the summer heat?

Dave:hippie:

Happy Wednesday, everyone,

Dave: Good luck to Sally with the interviews.

Vicky: I made cinnamon crumb cake and red velvet brownies with cream cheese frosting. My DD10 is like you, she loves red velvet anything too. ;) I remember my grandmother baking a red velvet cake without red food coloring but I don't have her recipe. As a result, I'm always trying new recipes to see if I can find something close to hers. The brownies were the latest experiment and my daughter's birthday was the perfect excuse to bake it! DDs and I are baking a pound cake this weekend to eat with the fresh strawberries we plan to pick Saturday morning. Yum.

AFM: A new road opened up near my home that is perfect for running. I put in a few miles this morning and plan to go farther tomorrow.

Hello team!

Vicky - We didn't dress up for the fair, but I did wear a Monty Python and the Holy Grail tshirt. There are only 11 teams in our league and the season goes through August so we'll play teams multiple times. That was nice of you to make cheesecake for your mom. Hope your knee is feeling better.

Mary - Have a good trip to WDW!

Dave - Good luck to Sally on her interviews!

Elizabeth - The cake and brownie sounds yummy. Yay for signing up for the half!

AFM - The weather has cooled down considerably here so it's been good for running. Our last few runs have gone well. We did 3 miles Saturday and Monday and 2 miles tonight. The weather forecast for Sunday is a slight chance of rain and a high of 68 deg. So, it will probably be a bit chilly for the race but I'm happy about the forecast.

I had a softball game last night and went out to eat afterwards with the other team  One of my coworkers plays on the opposing team. We went to a build-you-own burger place that is very yummy.

Have a good night!
Emily

Hey gang....sorry as usual MIA.

I am feeling good and working out regularly. DD and I go to the gym every other day for weights and cardio and then on the off days I am doing cardio outside to get my steps in on the road.

Hope everyone is doing great!!!!!

:cheer2: Weekend Racers :cheer2:

It's another busy race weekend! Sending out lots of good luck to our racers Mike, Liz, Emily & DH and Eva!!

May
14 - Old Kent Bank 25K, Grand Rapids, MI - Mike & Liz
15 - Chicagoland Spring Half Marathon Schaumburg, IL - Mike
15 - Pasadena 10K - Emily & DH
15 - Cleveland Half Marathon, Cleveland, OH - Eva

Good luck to our weekend racers. My first race of the year will be the middle of July, it's a 2 mile walk race, my goal for that race is sub 23 min.

Well, did my mile for a baseline time this morning. That is a mile as fast as I could comfortly hold that pace for a 5K race. My time was 12:17, about a minute slower than I had hoped but it is what it is and a starting place to guage improvement. I will do a test mile each week to track my progress.

Sally is still on the hunt for employment. She has a little weekend gig with a temp agency this weekend.

Our gas went to $399.9 and now it's dropping a penny a day! It's a rip off from our local stations, you can drive to the next town south and it's 20 a gallon cheaper! Grrrrrrrrrrr!!

Dave:hippie:

Good Morning Team!

Scott and I are back from our trip. I just skimmed up to here, so I probably missed a whole lot! We had a great time, and I only gained 5 pounds (I was sure it would be at least 10), so when I lose that 5 again, I will be back to the 20 pounds lost mark!

I did not vote, as we are not going to WDW in Jan. We will be in DL in Sept - doing the 5K and probably volunteering or at least cheering for the half - so maybe see a few of you folks there!

Dave - glad to see that you and Sally are back together!

Good luck to all the weekend racers!

Pixie Dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day all!

Good luck to all weekend racers!!!!!

Lynn welcome back. Isn't Alaska amazing so beautiful.
