Hakuna Matada - Jumping into a jubilant January

Hi Team!

Sue- Why is it your goal not to run 2012 WDW again? You’ve done triathalons before right?

Saylan- I’m glad you’re feeling better. What's the latest on your February trip?

Elizabeth- What kind of car?

Scott/Lynn- How is it seeing the fireworks from your room at Bay Lake Tower? Is it really nice?

Emily- I'm sure you'll find a goal that fits you at some point. :)

Everyone has such great goals this year. BTW, I think you guys should totally take a group picture at WDW. I thought that was a great suggestion by Mike.

AFM, I’m on the fence about adding another goal to my list. I would like to drastically cut back my sugar intake, but then when I have sugar cravings I change my mind. LOL, not sure what needs to happen to push me to the point of making the decision and just going for it. Ran 3 miles at the gym today with 1 min walk after each mile since I’m a little sluggish due to my inconsistent training habits I’ve taken to lately.

Have a wonderful Wednesday team and safe travels to anyone traveling!

My DH and I drive cars until they die. We alternate who gets the new car (it's his turn) but we put off buying a new one for the past 2-3 years. Now it is just a matter of whose car dies first! I'm hopeful that it is mine so that I can get a Honda CR-V.

I know what you mean about the sugar cravings. My advice is to start out very slow. I've managed to stop eating it (except for an occasional very small chocolate treat) and the habit is sticking. Now I have to get it out of my drinks. THAT will be the biggest battle for me.

I know what you mean about driving cars till they die! My husband just bought a new truck in October after driving his previous truck for 18 years! The old truck had 255,000 miles on it! And, even though he bought the new truck, the old truck is still getting used at his business for light duty stuff.

Hi team! Thanks so much for the welcomes! Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to update the thread before leaving :( I love some of the goals you've written down! You've given me some new ideas. Anyway I'm just waiting for the ME bus to leave so I'll try and check in again tomorrow! Safe travels everyone :)

I've got until tomorrow evening before I get on my flight. EEEEE!!!!

Definitely fully on the taper madness roller coaster now. Swinging wildly from "I'm good. I've trained. I've got this." to abject terror, tears and "What the...am I doing???"

It's fun. :lmao:

You guys will all rock it, I know it! You are so ready for it regardless of what your nerves are saying, Beth. Best of luck to everyone!

Regina: We're still going. I need to call and change the dates we're leaving cause the phone guy booked us in to leave on the 6th but we're leaving on the 5th. I also want to see if I can remove the tickets and order them separately with the Disney Princess discount. I'm not sure if I can or not, but I'm trying to find ways to cut the cost a bit.

We're staying in CBR and I'm still trying to pick dining reservations. I want to WoW the bf so he falls in love with at least the food if not the parks. :rotfl:

Also, I forgot to mention, I got a high-quality foam roller for Christmas from the bf. My parents also got me one so we returned it yesterday and I got a travel one in exchange. I'd never seen a travel one before but it's a great size, has two different covers allowing it to be firmer or softer and has a little slip that allows me to carry it easily if I don't pack it. I figured it was perfect for Disney so I don't have to go without rolling while I'm down there and it'll fit nicely in my gym bag.

My dad also gave me a cosmetics/toiletries bag for travelling so I have a place to put my toothbrush, etc. He gave my mom one too (they travel tons) because I had followed her habit of wrapping things in walmart/shopping bags in case they leaked. A separate plastic bag for shampoos, tooth brushes, to the point that we must have looked like creepy bag ladies. :lmao:

Saylan, what is the name of your travel foam roller?

Hi guys!

Remember me?

Nick and I decided that we need to sign up for another half. I know if I pay for a race, it'll keep me honest and working towards it. So, on February 1st (the day registration opens), we will sign up for our city's half.

We also are getting the wedding planning moving. Our deposit has been made, have our kit, and now discussing photographers. We really want a shot of us in our wedding get up under the Osbourne Lights--where Nick proposed. The DPS lady missed the moment, even though Denise told her what he was about to do. We still have the video. It's still kind of surreal. Never thought I'd be a bride, but it's fun!

Had another follow up on my kidney. It's still behaving itself after my surgery last year. So hopefully it'll stay good and no other major health issues for either of us.

Saylan, what is the name of your travel foam roller?

Elizabeth, I will check for you when I get home. I can't remember the name off the top of my head but I will definitely let you know once I check. I just thought it was the niftiest thing ever, especially for people who might travel to runs.

I really should have brought it yesterday to the gym but I forgot. I finally did a run for the first time in about a month and went to roll out after and the gym's foam roller had been left on the floor by a member where the floor was sopping wet from some leak in the wall. :sad2:

The run itself was horrible. I've really lost what I had going. My pace was at least half a minute off where I had been and I had to really push myself to even get 30 minutes in. As it was I had to sit down for a while after because I felt so sick. I even dropped the speed down on the treadmill to avoid killing myself, but that only marginally helped.

I'm really disappointed that I'm this bad but I'm holding out hope that it'll come back quickly cause I only have a few weeks to get in to a state where I can run the half. :headache: To give y'all a sense of how bad I felt, I was seriously considering having the people at the front desk call the number for my bf off my roadid. I felt so nauseated and dizzy. :sad1:

I have to try and believe that I can do this. I can't let myself give up.

Good Morning Team!

Saylan - I always put all liquids and creams in their own zip lock bags in case they leak. You will be fine, it does take a bit to come back after being off exercise, and we all have bad days where we just cannot do anything.

Beth - good luck with the shoes! I know what it is like to find a problem with shoes after you wear them for awhile.

Regina - It was really fun to watch fireworks from our balcony at BLT.

Gerry - have fun volunteering on the full - I did it last year and had lots of fun - despite the cold!

AFM - Back home, picked up dogs from puppy camp, nice day today, so I will get out with the dogs and acclimate back to the high altitude.

Goals for the new year:
Lose at least 15 pounds (to help my knee feel better, if nothing else)
Eat a more balanced diet.
Be able to ride bike for at least 40 miles in a day.
Do local bike rides.
WEIGHT TRAINING!!!!!

Good luck and safe travels to all who are traveling and participating in the WDW Marathon Weekend Races!

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

Good Morning Team!

Not much activity here - I never did make it for a walk yesterday, sill try again today. Spent yesterday doing some paperwork, then taking down Christmas - so far, the bedroom is back to normal, and it looks so empty! It will be nice again today, (high around 45) but it will be cold by Monday (high of 10 degrees).

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Safe travels to all who are traveling!

Have a great race(s) to all who are racing this weekend!

Have a great day all!

Hi Everyone!

Hope the Marathon Weekend is going well for all who are there!

Elizabeth: It's called the Travel Roller. I found a website for them: http://www.travelroller.com/ . I have just the roller and none of the other items they're pushing. It's a little pricey, in my mind, but I had to pick something in the store and since I couldn't take my foam roller with me to Disney, this seemed like a great idea.

Thanks. I love that they advertise that a bottle of wine fits inside perfectly!;)

Hope WDW and other ventures are going well, spin bike has been the activity of choice, weather is reported to get nasty this weekend,

Hi Team!

Elizabeth- How long do your cars last before they die? That’s a good idea. I think I will start slowly and see how it goes.

Mary- That’s great his truck lasted 18 years! I’m on year 11 with my car right now.

Saylan- Did you get your dates changed? What are you thinking for dining reservations? Top choices so far? What kind of food does the bf like? Haha, we put things in ziplock and plastic bags to keep things from leaking too! I’m so sorry you had such a rough run yesterday. I’ve had bad runs too, but I promise if you stick with it will get easier. Don’t overdo it and slow your pace if you need to. Better to go slower and build back up then run to fast, get discouraged, or worse, injure yourself. Are you taking walk breaks at all?

Hope- Hi!!! I think it’s great you and Nick are signing up for another half. That’s great news the wedding planning is moving forward. I’m glad your kidney is doing well.

Lynn- Welcome back. Great goals for the year! I bet the pups were happy to see you!

Scott- That's too bad the weather’s going to get nasty and you won’t be able to ride outside.

AFM, I threw something out of alignment in my neck yesterday morning. It hurt to move it in any direction and gave me very limited motion. So, I wasn’t able to run yesterday like I wanted to and was bummed about that and irritated with my neck. It hurt all last night and today, so I went home from work at 9am so my body wouldn’t be tensed up all day trying to keep my neck from moving. My chiropractor is no longer a chiropractor apparently, so I got a referral from some coworkers. Luckily he was able to fit me in and he was really nice and seemed to know what he was doing. I was pleased with his work. He adjusted me and I definitely have more motion now but still might need to get adjusted again next week. He said to see how I feel, but he told me no painting this weekend (trying to get the house ready to move) and no running. :sad1:Sigh…so sad!

Good luck to all those racing this weekend! I’ll be thinking of you all!!!
