Hakuna Matada - Awaiting an Awesome April!

Hi everyone! It's a rainy Saturday here. I'm postponing my run until the afternoon because I have to go downtown shortly and I'm not sure I'll have enough time to get ready and fit the run in. It's just cold enough and the rain is heavy enough that I don't want to risk getting sick.

Elizabeth - The first price increase for W&D is tomorrow. I checked out the Disney site and this is what was posted.

Entry Fees & Deadlines
Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon
$145 by April 17, 2011
$155 between April 18 and May 22, 2011
$165 on or after May 23, 2011

The final price is only a difference of $20 so it's not as terrible as some of the other races I've seen. If you know that you're going for sure, then I'd say save the $20. Otherwise the $20 will be your "cancellation" insurance.

The baking course was pretty fun! We didn't do too much the first night because no one had got a uniform yet. We have to get a chef jacket, pants and hat. It was a small class, I think because it's being held on a Friday night. There are about 10 people in total and we're working in teams of two. Our first task/assignment was to make pie dough. When we go back to class in two weeks (Good Friday is a holiday), we're going to make the dough again, plus apple pie filling and actually bake it!

Saylan - Yikes FB stalker! What did you say that she was so irked about? And does she have nothing better to do than to start stuff online with random strangers? Sheesh!

Good luck with your dinner! I have a recipe for German Chocolate Cake cupcakes if you're interested. It's not too difficult and you can make the frosting ahead of time and refrigerate it (if you don't want to do everything on the same day). You just have to let it return to room temperature before frosting the cupcakes.

And Beth is right about the 10K... as long as the results are timed and posted online, you're good. You can do a search for the results from last year to see if they do post them.

You're welcome for the medal! Sorry it took so long

Beth - Wow! That's a lot of gate changing! I guess someone at the airport wanted to make sure you got in some airport laps  Glad you made it to Nashville safely! And WTG on the 4.17 miler!! Awesome! Exercising on vacation is the one thing I'm no good at.

Dave - Looks like the rain from your area has moved up here. I don't blame you for cutting the long walk into a 5K. The wind sounds like it was challenging enough! Hope you've got sunshine and warm weather today!

Regina - I sort of thought about the salt as I was sprinkling it in. But I was thinking about something else at the time so I was a little bit distracted. I noticed after the cookies had gone into the oven and I was eating dough off the wooden spoon. I thought maybe it was because I'd used a different salt. But I realized exactly what I'd done when I was washing the dishes and looked closely at the spoon! Maybe I can sell them as iodine cookies

Are you running near the waterfront? Not that the lake front in Toronto is anything like the ocean, but I know people who live downtown and run near the lake say it's usually windier. Do you have a route in town or away from the water you can try? It might be less windy.

AFM - I went to my baking class last night and it was pretty fun. I'm partnered with someone else who's a beginner like me so we'll be learning together. She's pretty easy going so that's nice. There aren't any real marks in this class because it's a general interest class. In the professional stream, you get marked on all kinds of crazy things - your uniform and overall appearance, station cleanliness, plating and presentation, technique etc. So I like that this is more relaxed.

The class is small so it's pretty easy to catch the instructor's attention if you need something. The "lab" uses commercial ovens, mixers etc. so that's pretty cool! The annoying thing is that all the recipes are in grams. So we actually have to buy a scale (amongst other things). But my lab partner is pretty cool and we're going to try and split buying most of the tools so we don't have to each spend huge amounts of money at once. I mean because we're working in teams we don't really need two scales.

Anyway, I'd better start getting ready! I need to head out in about 45 mins!

Have a great day everyone! :wave2:

Vicky ~ The baking class sounds fun!! Is Canada not already on the metric system? I thought for some reason you were. Or even on the metric system did you still use cups and tablespoons and things?

I think it's easier for me to get the exercising in when vacation is at my parents house. Their neighborhood is pretty walker-runner friendly - well, other than the evil hills - and we're usually not on a super-tight schedule so it's not like I'm having to push to get it in.

I did have to laugh because my last run interval included the most evil hill on the route, so I pretended I was running for the finish at the NYC Marathon because that finish is uphill as well. Not quite as steep, though I'm sure after 26 miles it feels like it!! Another time I may pretend it's Heartbreak Hill since I've decided I WILL run Boston in 2013 as a charity runner (since I *might* meet the qualifying time for an 80+ year old...).

I'm going to have to suck it up and either pay the extra $10 or $20 for Wine and Dine. I'm definitely doing it, but some unplanned things have come up and I can't take the chance on making the payment now and then being short on something essential like rent at the beginning of the month. If I knew for sure my landlord was going to come through with my renters' insurance rebate (they pay us back $200 of the policy cost), I'd do it today or tomorrow, but I don't know when he's planning on giving it to me. My thinking is right now that I'll earmark that specifically for the W&D entry fee when I get it...and if I haven't be mid-May I'll just pay it from that check (and contact the landlord to find out what's up).

Good Morning Team!

Vicky - Snow this time of year melts quickly, usually by later in the day! This weekend the temps have been nice, but wind atrocious! Right now, we are at “full gale” (gusts over 60mph)! We are expecting rain tonight and throughout the rest of the week also. Hope you had fun at baking class!

Saylan - Hope your dinner went well, it sounded quite ambitious to me!

Beth - Hope you are enjoying your visit!

Dave - I am finding it harder to walk with wind behind me than against it - it puts alot of stress on my knee when I am being pushed by 30mph wind.

Regina - Fees on bike rides vary depending on what you get for them, some just a goodie bag, a (very) few give medals to finishers. For the ride we missed in Salt Lake City, it included goody bag, medal and ball cap, plus train ride from Ogden back to SLC. The cost was around $60 each I think. Our local rides are around $25, but I do not know what you get for that (0ne of them provides dinner the night before and I think breakfast after). The ones we have been looking at, some have options of 20 miles/40 miles/half century (50 miles) and century (100 miles). If it is a metric century, it is about 62 miles. We chose when we signed up, do not know if you can change when you get there, we have not actually done any of these rides yet!

Elizabeth - Hope you made it thru your “sugar-free Saturday”!

Gerry - Do you have a duathalon in mind?

AFM - Last 2 days have been really windy - yesterday just went for walk with the dogs, today we started on the bikes doing “sprints” against the wind, we road down the road with the wind, then turned around and “sprinted” back - well, the wind was so strong, that for me, the “sprints” were more like power rides against the wind (it was blowing about 30 mph at that point). After about 4 passes, we gave up on the bikes and took the dogs for walk around the block - at that point the wind really started to blow (gusts up to 50mph), and it was getting difficult even to walk.

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

Hey team!!!!!

Crazy weather here this month....jeezzzz pouring rain yesterday with high winds, today on and off blizzards and high winds but at least it isn't staying on the ground.

Lynn: When do you guys leave for Alaska? Do you have any excusions planned?

Vicky: Nope haven't decided yet are you doing it? I am sure I asked you already but can't remember.

Gerry: My goal for next year is a sprint tri, but might start with a dua this year....end of the season however just to get a feel for it.

Elizabeth: Yes I am on elthroxin, never really ever had symptoms mine was found on a routine physical after DS was born 21 years ago, always been on the same dosage.

Thank you all for sharing your dentist horror stories with me, mine seems pretty tame in comparision.

AFM: I joinned our local gym today. I am tired of not seeing any results so I figure I am not working out properly. It comes with a session with a nutritionist, a body analisys (sp) which uses ultra sound to measure body fat....I do that on Tues....kinda freaked out over that one, also a personal plan for both cardio and weights. I figured I would use it through till Scotia in Oct which is my goal race to so a 8 - 2 split jog/walk. I have my first boot camp class tomorrow very excited.

Have a super day everyone.

Kim

Hello team!

Beth - Congrats on you PR! I think that is an excellent time. Have a good sprink break!

Regina - DH might change his mind about a full marathon after we do more half marathons. But, I don't know that I would ever want to do one. 26 miles seems so far and with my current pace would take me a long time! The quidditch tournament was fun, we took a lot of pictures and some video. The pics are on DH's computer so I'll see if I can upload one later. Good to hear you're settling into your new place. Hope your shin feels better soon.

Vicky - I'll have to look into getting some compression socks, I've never used them before. My ankle still feels off, but the pain hasn't been as sharp as it was last weekend.

Kim - Glad the dentist went ok for you. I think I'm a bit odd in that I don't mind going to the denstist, but it's probably because I've only had a few cavities and not any major issues. I also really like the office I go to. Now the doctor's is different, I'll do anything to avoid it.

Mike - Sorry to hear about the race! Hope you're feeling better.

Saylan - Hope your dinner went well!

Lynn - The weather there sounds crazy, especially the wind! I lived in Boulder one summer and there was one night it was really windy. Walking around it in was hard. I woke up in the morning and the wind had blown in a bunch of leaves and dirt under the doors.

AFM - We had a pretty quiet weekend as Patrick had to go into work both days. We went out for dinner last night. We went to a BBQ place we hadn't been to before. DH loves BBQ and really liked the pulled pork.

We went for a 5 mile run yesterday morning. It went ok, the first 2 miles were good but the rest was tough. It was really hot outside, the warmest it's been so far this year.

My ankle has been ok this week. It hasn't hurt as much as it did last week. My right foot has been bothering me off and on. Sometimes, it's my ankle, not the joint itself but the area around it. Other times, it's the bottom of my foot or the inside arch area. The pain isn't bad, it's like a dull ache. It hurts at random times too, not always when I'm running. I'm not sure if it's something to worry about or what it could be. :confused3

Pixie dust for those who need it!

Have a good night,
Emily

Thanks for all the well wishes for dinner. It actually turned out pretty good.

For appetizer/snacks, we had salsa dip (not salsa) with blue corn chips. The main meal was stuffed Italian pot roast rolls in marinara sauce, butter-free buttered noodles with parmesan, and arugula salad with mandarin oranges, flax seed crackers, asiago cheese, balsalmic pure dressing. Dessert ended up being strawberry-cinnamon loaf (think: banana bread with strawberries instead) and dark chocolate-covered frozen bananas rolled in coconut and ground cereal.

Overall, it went well. I think my parents were suitably impressed and we had a whole roast log left over which DBF and I split for lunch the next day. :) I also now have a super duper clean apartment. We'll see how long that lasts.

Emily: I wish I could go to the W&D but I'm already doing the DL half and since I can't get time off, DBF and I are going only for the weekend. It's going to be too pricy. Best of luck in the race though! I'm the same way (needing a race to keep me in the game).

Beth: I will have to see. I think I saw that the results are posted from last year, so I'm hoping I didn't hallucinate it. They time it using a company which hires people to stand at the finish line, is my understanding, so I'm also not sure how exact it is.

Vicky: She was being really really rude on the run Disney page. Posting in all caps, repeatedly, on any status or link that they post the last clue. I simply told her to relax, that the clue will come when it comes. I should point out I said that early in the morning on the thread she was posting on. Around 3:50 in the afternoon (hours later) she sent me an all caps note taunting me and mocking me for my comment. I responded with "I think your keyboard is broken. You might want to get your caps lock button fixed." and reported/blocked her. :lmao:

I'd love the recipe! I'm a big recipe buff and definitely collect cook books (which paid off a lot this weekend). I think the favs right now are my slow cooker books and my Jessica Seinfeld's Deceptively Delicious and Doubly Delicious.

Your course sounds great. You'll have to post more about what you make in there!

And no worries about the medal. It's not late if there's no timeline. :goodvibes

Kim: What gym is it? Goodlife, The Athletic Club, Gold's?

AFM: I'm trying to decide if I should register for the half and/or relay for January. I really want to but I don't know for sure if I can get time off and going down for the weekend would suck. I'd like at least 1-2 days to enjoy the trip.

On top of that, we have mold. And I'm not talking the bread kind. I'm at my wit's end on this. Last night it even started to puff up (almost sprout) where as before it just looked like our ceiling had a rash. It's driving me nuts because weeks ago I reported the ceiling leak to our landlord. Supposedly, they fixed the leak above us, but clearly not because the water dries, comes back, and dries again. You can see shadows of bigger water spots and they're appearing outside the bathroom now.

When I spoke to our landlord last, he said he thinks the tape that goes between the drywall is loose is all, but I don't know how he can think that when it's almost a 2 square foot dark spot on our ceiling with other water marks elsewhere. I just want it gutted, all the mold gone, and rebuilt. I don't care about not having that bathroom (we have 1 and a half), but I do care that it's been over a week with visible mold and who knows how long with mold above the ceiling that we couldn't see?

I know that they said they're working on it but everyone says I should call the health board (it's free to have them look) to put fire under their toes. I really don't want to step on toes or piss anyone off but it's my health and DBF's health and our fur-baby's health at risk. Grrrrrrrrr

Good Morning Team!

Saylan - I hope you get the mold problem fixed soon! Your dinner sounds great!

Emily - We had to learn to live with the wind when we moved to Cheyenne (previously we lived in the mountains, so, no wind), it was quite a learning curve! Most of the time I can tolerate it, but sometimes it really gets to me. Pixie Dust for the ankles!

Regina - I had to do one full marathon, just to say that I did it! The last 6 miles were torture for me (my mistake was not eating any solid food - could not go for 7 hours on gels), but I can say I finished a marathon!

Kim - We leave a week from tomorrow. Yes, excursions planned for Alaska - Whale watching, cookouts, a train ride then bike ride back down to the coast. It will be fun!

AFM - Today is supposed to be fairly warm (60 degrees) but raining off and on all day - but - the wind has died down!!!!! It is only blowing at 10 mph today!!! (for here, that is calm). Should get out with the dogs for a walk, and get some weights done. I have a lot of errands to do today, so we will see what gets done!

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

Emily: pixie dust for that ankle. I'm glad it feels better now than before.

Saylan: good luck with getting the mold problem resolved quickly. I don't blame you for being worried about breathing it.

Kim: I tried Eltroxin and also Synthroid but settled on Armour for my hypothyroidism. I'm glad that you haven't experienced severe symptoms as a result of your thyroid issues.

AFM: As you've seen on the news, NC was severely hit by the storms that passed through the southeast US this weekend. My friend, who ran with me at the Princess half, can't get out of her neighborhood because of the damage to surrounding houses, downed trees, power lines, etc. A childhood friend of my husband died as a result of head trauma when his house collapsed. I'm extremely lucky to be able to say that my family is uninjured and my house is undamaged. I plan take an extra run this afternoon and just enjoy being alive on this beautiful day.

Hi Team,

Checking in!

es45~ Glad to hear that you and your family is okay, sorry for your friends loss. The weather seems to be a little crazy this year.

Eva~ when will your dad check in here? Looking forward to posting with him!

Regina~ Happy to hear that you got moved okay. I forget, are you doing anymore Disney races? Also, I just met my nephew's new wife and they are living in Rexsburg ID. It seems I'm getting to know more and more people on the west coast!

Vicky~ Have fun with the cooking class!

Dave~ We may have to book your guest room for next years Kentucky Derby half, if you are willing to put us up for a night...

AFM~ been training on and off. The weather has been unkind, with high winds, rain, and snow last night. Lots of rain forecasted over the next few days.
I'm starting to freak out about the back to back half marathons that I have planned at the end of the month. I'm in horrible shape and in no shape for one, let alone two! :scared1:
Liz had fun with her indoor triathlon on Sunday. She did pretty well. The doc says that she has a piece of scar tissue in her right knee that is causing inflamation and pain. It doesn't necessiarly need surgery...yet. She is managing it with ibuprofin and excercises to strengthen the knee. My opinon is to have it removed now, as it isn't going to go away. Being an Irish wife, she doesn't listen...

Send me some motivation, I need it! -Mike :cool2:

having fun on my bike driving around Celebration--just put in under 15 miles in little over an hour--trying to get a little kenyan on my bike.

Maybe duathalon in May--Looks like Clermont has a series

triathalon on horizon?

Good Morning Team!

Mike - Good luck on your marathons - just remember that we all go into races feeling very undertrained! Take it easy, don’t try for any PR’s if you have another race to do shortly. (When Scott was doing the Goofy’s, he had a friend hold him back on the half marathon). Glad to hear that Liz enjoyed her triathlon!

Elizabeth - Sorry to hear that friends of yours suffered losses in the tornados, glad to hear your family and house are undamaged. Pixie Dust to the whole area!

Gerry - Great pace!

AFM - I was a total slug yesterday, between the rain, running errands and Monday chores (laundry), I did not even get into the basement for a workout! Will have to make up for it today! It is sunny at the moment, and the wind is not blowing yet (though it is supposed to pick up later), so will get out with the dogs as soon as I am done my coffee.

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

Hi guys!!

Elizabeth ~ Sendins good vibes your way!!
Lynn ~ Have a good time out with the dogs!
Gerry ~ Enjoy the bike!!
Mike ~ Good luck with the halfs! I'm sure you'll do better than you think!
Saylan ~ Good luck getting the mold fixed. Eww!!
Emily ~ Pixie dust for the ankle/foot!!

AFM ~ I'm hanging out in the ONE Starbucks in downtown Nashville right now while my parents do stuffing for a Tennessee Performing Arts Center mailing. My dad and I are going to the PFLAG meeting tonight, and with gas being what it is, I didn't want to make them go back and forth and back and forth. So. Starbucks it is. I'll go to the Frist Art Museum to have lunch with a friend in their cafe in about an hour.

I'm feeling a lot better (yay!!) and got my run in this morning. I'm still doing 5:1, but the run interval will start inching up there soon. I did decide to play a little and on a couple of places where it was almost flat, I picked up my pace to a near sprint for 30-60 seconds. Ended up with 4.27 miles done. I did learn that I need a little more than a spoon of peanut butter before a morning run, so I'll get a couple of luna bars to get me through the rest of my time here (since I'll be back to afternoon/evening running back home).

In a sad twist, I've been educating my parents on running and marathons and stuff. We watched "The Spirit of the Marathon" last night, and this morning I was just telling them about the time tha Grete Waitz gave her NYC Marathon finisher's medal to a woman who does it every year on crutches because of MS and finishes in 24+ hours. She saw her finishing from the windo of her room, found out what was going on, and went down to give her the medal for finishing. I went upstairs and checked twitter, and found out that Grete has died from cancer at 57. :( So sad. She will be truly missed. I suspect that the Mini 10K, Grete's Great Gallop, and the NYC Marathon will be especially poignant this year.

Have a good day all!!

~beth

Good Morning Team!

Yes, it is sad news of the passing of Grete!

Windy yesterday, wind chill index of 22 degrees when I got out with the dogs, so we just got around the block. Then spent some time on the spin bike downstairs.

Pixie Dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

Hi team! It's a short week here with Good Friday being a holiday so it's a little busier at work. The weather here hasn't been great - we got snow on the weekend. Thankfully it melted but it still doesn't feel much like spring yet.

Beth - Only one Starbucks?! :faint: I guess that's spoken like a big city girl! I remember taking a road trip through the US last fall and not wanting to stop at any of the service stations unless there was a Starbucks. Good job on the intervals and sprints! For my short runs (anything less than 5 miles), I usually eat a bowl of cereal. It digests easily and is full of sugar. Very sad about Grete - too young I think :(

We use cups and tablespoons and such for recipes here. I know European countries use ml and grams for recipes. I should have asked but I'm guessing we're going by weight in the class because there's variance in measuring cups. Not 100% sure.

Lynn - Don't chores count as a workout :) I know mopping and moving everything off the floor feels like it sometimes! Are you all packed for Sunday?

Gerry - Great pace! I've always wanted to try a duathalon. Are you deciding between the triathlon and the duathalon?

Mike - Good luck with your races! Like Lynn said, don't try for a PR. Or at least, don't try and PR both :) Are there pace bunnies at the races? If there are, stick with a slower pacing group so you know you're not going too fast. Great way to train for Goofy though! Congrats to Liz on her tri! Lots of pixiedust: for her knee!

Elizabeth - Sorry to hear about your friend. That's quite sad :( I'm glad that you and your family are okay.

Kim - I'll probably register for the Energizer race but wait until June. All these races add up! This month, I'll be registering for Goofy and I've already registered for Island Girl and Midsummer Night's so I'm trying to hold back a little :) How are you liking your new gym?

Saylan - Your dinner sounds awesome!! We'll have to do a recipe swap sometime :goodvibes My cupcake recipe is at home. I will send it to you later tonight. Sorry to hear about the mold situation. I don't have much experience in dealing with a LL but he might just be having trouble getting someone in to look at it. Just playing devil's advocate. OTOH, you could call the health board but that could create tension between you and the LL. But like you said, it's your health at risk. Tricky :(

Emily - Take care of that ankle, you don't want to end up like me :cutie: Have you had it looked at by a physio or a doctor? You'll want to make sure there's not something more serious going on. When I go out for a run, I usually wear my compression socks and use a single piece of sports tape that runs from the outside of my ankle, across the bottom of my foot to the inside of my ankle.

AFM - I haven't been out running since the weekend. I had a pretty good 5K run on Sunday morning despite the snow. Well, we've got a long weekend coming up. I have a massage booked for Saturday morning so I'm looking forward to that :) But I have to get back to work so I'll try to check in more on the weekend.

Have a great day everyone :wave2:

:9Hi Team,

Glad to see everyone seems to on the move! The weather here has been awful the last two days. Cold, rainy and windy with bad storms again last night. Today was heavily overcast, rainy, windy, a repeat without the storms. The wind chills have been in the 20's and 30's. Grrrr!! and Brrrr!

Vicky, I'm glad to hear that you will be doing the Goofy. I'll need all the team support that I can get as it looks like I will be going solo. Liz doesn't want to spend the extra money to make it a family vacation. So, it will be me, whoever I see from the team, and all about the medals.

Dave~ did you get the mower fixed?

Beth~ enjoy your time with the P's !

AFM~ I did get four miles in today with a pace of 9:36. Work tonight and maybe a run tomorrow morning. Thanks to everyone for your support and encouragement about my upcoming halves, and getting my chubby butt through the challenge! I will survive!
What does everyone think of the Tinker Bell half? I've got strong opinions on this one, but I won't go into them now.

Anyway, off to bed, Mike :cool2:

Hi Team!

Saylan- I can’t believe you’ve been getting harassed on FB, and by a run Disney fan! I’m glad dinner with your parents went well. You sound like a much better cook than I am. Which are you leaning toward- the half or half relay? When will you know if you will be able to get the time off? I’m really sorry to hear about your mold. I hope it gets taken care of soon.

Dave- You are one tough panda! I hate running in the wind! :worship:

Elizabeth- I hope DH enjoys his job as a software tester. It sounds very interesting. I’m sorry to hear about your DH’s childhood friend. I’m glad you and your family are okay.

Vicky- That’s neat you have to wear a chef uniform for your class. How are you doing making the pie dough? It’s good you’re partnered with someone about your same skill level so they aren’t taking over everything. Yes, we’re running right near the water front. Our apartment is right next to the water, and the road runs right along the bay. I’ve noticed the wind is definitely worse in one area (crossing the bridge with water on both sides), or at least it was yesterday. If the wind continues to be that strong, I think we might have to drive a bit to change our route. Or would that be the sissy thing to do? I don’t want to dread going for a run every day because the wind kicks my butt… Do you have any runs planned this week? A massage this weekend sounds very nice!

Gerry- Do you have a dualathon picked out?

Lynn- Well the bike rides sound like fun. I’m looking forward to hearing what you think of them when you finally get to do one! The ride in SLC sounded like a really nice one. My goal is to run at least one marathon as well, just to say that I did it. But when I stop and actually think about going 26 miles, I have to admit it is a little intimidating to me! Your excursions sound like fun! Are you going to post pictures on FB?

Kim- How are the boot camp classes going? How did your body analysis go? I hope it went better than you anticipated!

Emily- Like you, I don’t mind going to the dentist either and liked my old dentist’s office. I’m a little concerned to try a new one (now that we’ve moved), but I told my old hygienist that if it’s a nightmare when I go, she’ll be seeing me next March because I’ll be driving the 12 hours just to have her clean my teeth. :rotfl:, the silly thing is that I mean that too! And, the regular doctor is very very scary for me as well! I’m sure you and DH will feel less anxious by 26 miles once you’ve done more half marathons as well. I’m glad your ankle has been feeling ok. Have you thought about going to a sports podiatrist for your right foot?

Mike- Yes, I am definitely going to do more Disney races. :thumbsup2 Kyle and I will definitely be going to marathon weekend and have been planning on that for sure (unless of course I break a bone). We are going to sign up for Goofy, but he has to get qualified where he is before he can put in his request for vacation time. I’d also like to do Wine and Dine again, but I don’t think we’ll make it to that one again until 2013. Kyle’s sister is actually attending college in Rexburg right now. Haha, you know the west coast is a great place to be! :) I’m sure you’ll do great on your 2 back to back half marathons. The good news is you’ve already made it through one with little training so you already know you can do it. Just make sure you save some energy for your 2nd one and like Vicky said, don’t try to PR them both! You can do it!:cheer2: LOL, well I’m glad to hear Liz is keeping you on your toes. Congrats to her on her tri!

AFM, DH and I went out for a run yesterday with Sydney. The wind was once again really strong and kicked my butt :headache:, but we finished and covered about 3 miles. I’m still hoping it won’t always be this windy. If it is, I should have been more worried about the wind, than the rain. :confused3 My dad and his best friend (who is basically like a second dad to me) brought up our other car this weekend so it’s nice to have 2 cars again. It was also nice to see them and I think they enjoyed my giving them a reason for a guys’ road trip. We spent Saturday evening with them when they arrived and we went out for a nice dinner on Sunday and had a good time, and then I met them at their hotel on Monday for breakfast before they left. That's all going on over here. I hope everyone is having a good day!

Mike- Sorry I missed your last post! What is with all the strange weather everywhere? Great job on the 4 miles! I was disappointed in the Tinkerbell half. I think it was unfair of them to hype it up to everyone and then exclude the men by making it a women focused event. I think it would have been different if they would have at least made it undeniably clear it was going to be a women's focused event. Then the letdown for some of the male runners wouldn't have been as big. People still would be angry, but I don't think it would be as much of a let down for some. Also, you know Kyle and I like to run together so it's frustrating that if we were to run that race, Kyle couldn't even have a race shirt and would probably end up giving it to me because he obviously doesn't wear women's shirts. It's also a bummer because we would do a race in DL and are closer to DL, but if it's a choice between WDW marathon weekend or DL, I'm going to choose WDW. And if it's a choice between a gender neutral event and a women's focused one, I'm going to choose the gender neutral event every time. I wish the timing of the race wasn't so close to WDW weekend or the Princess.

Hello Team!

Regina/Vicky - My ankle/foot has felt better lately. I haven't seen a doctor yet, I try to avoid them, but if it gets worse I will go.

Elizabeth - Sorry to hear about your friends. I'm glad you and your family are alright.

Mike - Good luck with your races! I second what everyone else said, save some energy for your 2nd race.

Saylan - Hope your mold problem gets fixed soon. Your dinner sounds great.

Vicky - Enjoy your long weekend. A massage sounds nice.

Regina - WTG on getting your run in despite the wind.

AFM - Went out for a run tonight, I haven't been running since Saturday so I felt a little stiff. My ankle/ foot hasn't bothered me the last few days.

I am disappointed with the Tinkerbell half. I wish the timing of the race was different. We're thinking of going to WDW marathon weekend so we can get our coast to coast medal and the Tinkerbell follows so close to that. I'm glad there is another race at DL since I live in So Cal and it would be nice to run a different course at DL but the timing stinks. I'm also not a fan of Tinkerbell. Still, I'm kind of interested in it cause I'm close to DL but I'd probably run it without DH.

Speaking of marathon weekend, Patrick and I need to sign up before the price increase. I'm still torn between the half and relay, but I suspect that we'll sign up for the half. We always run together so it would be weird to run a race without DH. I need to look at the course maps and decide which parks I really want to run through.

Pixie Dust for those in need!

Have a good night!
Emily
