Or is that an oxymoron?

I cut DS's (he's 4) hair at home. I have a clippers and I was wondering if I put the longer guide on it and cut his hair, would that work? Or would it just look bizarre?

Right now I use the clippers on the back and the scissors on the front, but it looks too full to me. I'd like to thin it out for the summer.

TIA!

I am NOT a hairstylist, but DH used to wear his hair VERY short and the barber would use the clippers all over---but NOT THE SAME LENGTH---that WOULD look bizzarre, in my opinion. The barber would use a short setting on the sides and back and a much longer setting on the top/front. Does that make sense?

I have also seen a stylist use "thinning shears" that look like scissors but have this criss/cross pattern in the middle.

Personally, I would go to Procuts for around $8.00 and let them do the first cut, then maintain it at home.

I'm not a hair stylist but I use the clippers on my boys and DH. I typically use a 3 on the back and 4 on top and it looks just fine. Those clippers have paid for themselves many times over!

A 3 and a 4? My clippers has numbers in fractions....3/8, 1/4 etc....any idea how that would translate?

THanks.

DS won't sit still for a professional hairstylist at this point. That's why I'm doing it.

:confused3 I did DBF's head this weekend (oh that looks WRONG!) and used a 3 all over his head...it's not long at all, maybe 1/3-1/2 inch?

I would have preferred to mach 3 the entire thing, but he wouldnt go for it...

:rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 Don't know how I end up on these threads... :lmao:

I agree with the posters that said that usually a shorter buzz is done on the side and back and a little longer on the top. Even when my kids had a hard time sitting still, they could usually handle it better for the pros because they are a lot faster than I am. You could then keep him trimmed at home. How about if he sat on your lap?

Or you could bring him to WDW and get his hair cut at the barbershop on Main Street! :teeth:
