Hi! I know this may be a silly question-but I have been to many european hotels with the "hose hairdryer" that is attached to the wall and looks like a hose...and I hate it! (my hair does not cooperate with this type of hairdryer!)
Does anyone have a picture or know what type of hairdryer is at the Hotel New York?
We are leaving tomorrow-yeah! And I am trying to decide whether or not to pack the hairdryer....
We stayed at Sequioa Lodge last year and I am racking my brain for the type of hairdryer-and I just can't remember...thanks!:sulley:

I'm afraid I just can't remember! But I've move your post into a separate thread, it the hope that more people will see it and be able to answer your question. :)

it is not the hose type common in Europe, but a 3 speed 220v version which doesn't give much power. I bought a hairdryer at Monoprix last year which is much more powerful, and works much better. Bring your own if you can (don't know what country you are from) so long as it works with European voltage.

This is a picture from the Disneyland Hotel but they have the same Hairdryers at the HNY. We have been there 4 weeks ago and for our short mens hair this hairdryer was more than enough. :lmao:

i'm from the states, but live in london so i have both a british and an american-the pic from the disneyland hotel is exactly what i am trying to avoid.....but one of you said it wasn't like that, so now i am confused-guess i will just bring my american hairdryer and adaptor! : ) Thanks!

the one in the room at Seqouia, and on loan at Cheyenne are not the vacuum hose type. I am using one daily right now... ;)

In the "Hotel facilities checklist" in the brochure, it says that hairdryers are "available" at the Disneyland Hotel and the Hotel New York, but "available on request" at the rest.

So presumably the request ones are the cord and plug type, but when they are in the rooms as standard they are the hose type fixed to the wall.

IOWs I would suggest taking your own Perdie!!!

We stayed at the Disneyland Hotel in Oct 2004. I didn't like the wallmounted dryer. It was sad. I called housekeeping and they brought a blow dryer that I could plug in, but the outlet was just outside the bathroom door and on the baseboard, so the cord was not long enough for me to stand and dry my hair. I kneeled on the floor in fornt of the vanity to use the hair dryer.

My adapters never seem to work for my appliances in other countries. We stayed at a hotel in Paris for a few days before that and using my adapter the dryer died so I didn't get to try it in the Disneyland Hotel.

I do recommend bringing extension cords on vacation anytime.

At both SL and NB we had to request one from Housekeeping.

It was a proper babyliss style hairdryer with a continental european plug on it and was much more powerful than the type fixed into the bathrooms.

I always pack my own hairdryer as it's rare to get a decent one in a hotel.

Sadly, I got the wall hose dryer at HNY and I did bring my own just in case, BUT even though the voltage was right on the box, apparently it still didn't want to work-so first it overburned (bad smell) and then it just stopped working! Wish I had known about calling and requesting a hairdryer-I ended up using the hose dryer....and I took a pic in case anyone was curious about the hairdryers in HNY ;)

Didn't I told you that they have the same hairdryers in the DLH, HNY & NPBC! ;)
