Haircut in Magic Kingdom for almost 5 yo?

Hi, we will be in WDW the last week of November (AFTER Thanksgiving) and DS (almost 5) will need a haircut by then. So I was wondering about the barber shop in MK. Has anyone done this with their DC and how long a wait is there, usually? Is it worth doing?

It says in the books I have that you don't need an appointment. I know the park is supposed to be "quieter" that week and of course we could play it by ear, but we only have one day at MK. I would just love to hear from anyone with experience with this. Also how much does it cost?

I would say it is definitely worth it! The wait time really depends on how busy they are, but it usually isn't very long.

My son had his first haircut done there in April. It was fantastic! They were very patient and extremely nice. I think the lady's name was Mary something? The cost for his haircut was $14, but that included a certificate and a pair of "ears" that said "First Haircut" on the back. Good luck!

love getting thier hair cuts at the Harmony Barber Shop on Main Street. DS5 & DD8 always ask. We also like to get there first thing int he mroning, or during the afternoon parade. Even if the wait is long, the parade keeps the family entertained.

We went there on a day with EMH and the barber shop opened at 9am. EMH started at 8am.

The longest we have ever waited was on Xmas Eve two years ago; and the wait time even then was under 20 minutes!!! Younger ds loves having the colored hair gel put in his hair; but be forewarned -- it does NOT wash out easily.

We did this with DB who was 11 at the time. It was 4th of July weekend, so about as busy as it can get. We waited about 40 minutes, but for 20 of that we were lucky enough to have the Barbershop Quartet actually sing in the Barbershop!! They were trying to escape the heat. They even sang "Deep In the Heart of Texas" for me!!

They do not take appointments. The cost was $14 plus tip, and the color/mickey glitter is godawful! We made him stand under the pool shower at ASMo before we'd let him in the room. There was a HUGE blue puddle on the ground around the drain when he left!

My family is going in Dec. and my son is due for his first haircut. After reading your post I am going to hold out and have his first haircut at Disney- what a memory.

we were there 2 weeks ago and had to wait bout 15min for my dh haircut. there were 2 girls there in front of us who were there not for a haircut but to get the dye and glitter done in their hair.

My DD got the glitter and hair dye done this past September. It was $5 and the glitter had carriages and castles along with the mickey heads that you see all over the ground there.

I would say that if you are going to go, make it as early as you can. I think that we went there around 10 am (I think that the park opened @9am) there was only one person working & there were 5 people in front of us, so I will do it next time.

DS6 announced today that he isn't getting another haircut, just had one this week, until we go to WDW (4 weeks). He loves getting his haircut there. It's the same cost as here and then he gets the cool Mickey head on the back and colored accents on top with Mickey heads. He loves it!! DS3 got his first haircut ever there.

When you go, as far as crowds go, is hit or miss. We've been at all times of day and sometimes there is a long wait and sometimes there is no one there. Try when you first get there, if there is a long wait, come back later. It will usually be gone in a hour or so and then you have fun while waiting.

Definetly do it. It's a cool thing that everyone should try at least once.

This is probably a silly question but can I also get me daughter's haircut there too or is it mainly for boys?
