Hair!

I agree with much of you said - except this.

If you dont trip it along the way, youre going to end up with long, unkept, frizzy haiy - ESPECIALLY if its colored or heat styled "along the way"

You need to trim your hair - growing it out, or not.

Well Cathryn I get your point, but there is definetly no solid consensus. Some people say don't trim, and some people say do. I personally think it's not necessarily until and if you see problems happening.

A lot of people who grow their hair out w/o trims end up with AWESOME hair. Some of the trimmed ones end up choppy looking or bad. It all depends. The most I'd do is a tiny tiny tiny trim, and even then, only after MANY months of growth. I'm only in month 4.

Great, now I have this song running through my mind:

She asks me why
I'm just a hairy guy
I'm hairy noon and night
Hair that's a fright
I'm hairy high and low
Don't ask me why
Don't know
It's not for lack of bread
Like the Grateful Dead
Darling

Gimme head with hair
Long beautiful hair
Shining, gleaming,
Streaming, flaxen, waxen

Give me down to there hair
Shoulder length or longer
Here baby, there mama
Everywhere daddy daddy

Hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair
Flow it, show it
Long as God can grow it
My hair

Let it fly in the breeze
And get caught in the trees
Give a home to the fleas in my hair
A home for fleas
A hive for bees
A nest for birds
There ain't no words
For the beauty, the splendor, the wonder
Of my...

Hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair
Flow it, show it
Long as God can grow it
My hair

I want it long, straight, curly, fuzzy
Snaggy, shaggy, ratty, matty
Oily, greasy, fleecy
Shining, gleaming, streaming
Flaxen, waxen
Knotted, polka-dotted
Twisted, beaded, braided
Powdered, flowered, and confettied
Bangled, tangled, spangled, and spaghettied!

Oh say can you see
My eyes if you can
Then my hair's too short

Down to here
Down to there
Down to where
It stops by itself

They'll be ga ga at the go go
When they see me in my toga
My toga made of blond
Brilliantined
Biblical hair

My hair like Jesus wore it
Hallelujah I adore it
Hallelujah Mary loved her son
Why don't my mother love me?

Hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair
Flow it, show it
Long as God can grow it
My hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair
Flow it, show it
Long as God can grow it

Since yours is thicker than Reese's, would the style that Jessica is wearing in the OP work for you? I love that style for thick, straight hair!

I like it-- actually I've worn it similar to that in the past, but I prefer longer and with bangs.

Oh well. I think everyone loves the styles they can never really achieve!

Jessica's would look even better with like 2-4" longer, I agree. It's so thick and straight which is a weird combo.

500th post!

Here is some great hair!!

I agree, and this is coming from someone with naturally-curly hair that I grew out from a shaved head, lol!

CathrynRose, may I just say that in your new siggie pic you LOOK AWESOME!!! I love your hairstyle and your color there!

Yeah - but I think the reason she looks so thick and straight is hair extensions/additons. Thats not all her hair.... no way. Thats why it looks so thick.

Why thank you!

My hair is the same as the picture I used to use that was purple - the only difference:

A) That purple one was taken at Epcot and I was a bit ....sweaty.... from the heat of the day

and

B) It was purple!

But thanks so much!!!:3dglasses

BTW, here's a pic of a haircut I did on one of my "practice model head" things.

A little short, but her hair was unruly and disgusting, so I had to cut everything below the ends, because it was just knotted "frizz" which in synthetic hair, frizz doesn't really go away.

Oh and my sister - I miss her old hair!

Her old beautiful BROWN hair:

Then she cut it way too short. in this pic, it's actually grown out. It was originally jaw length. My sis is the thin one in black dress.

And nowadays it's grown out but still blonde. she's just suited better for brown. I tell her every day!

True, it looks better now (god, that 2002 picture is just wow), but I miss her brown hair! I'm gonna dye it in the middle of the night sometime hehe

Anyone think my sis was better as a brunette? LOL I'm not being mean - I love her - I just miss her old hair

Mine is that thin, trust me, you don't want it. Better to have stubborn bangs that flat hair!

Ha! I have both and I have thick hair :lmao: I grew out my bangs because of my cowlick, and my hair is so heavy that if I don't keep it short, it's weighed down and looks flat and drab.
My stylist razored the hell out of it last time and did a choppy bob. I can scrunch it up and make it curly, or I can leave it be and it automatically flips now, which I love. No muss or fuss.

I totally agree. Growing out doesn't have to be all that painful with the right cut and style. I do it all the time--cut it off, grow it out. It is one thing I am really good at, LOL.

To the OP, I saw your pic and nope, your not due for a haircut yet.

Oooooo, I love hair and makeup and all that stuff. :)

Ok, Kevin, after reading how much you like hairstyling and cosmetology, I have a question for you and would appreciate your expertise!

I have a really short crop haircut right now--I love it. Easy to do and it works well with my face shape and build. I am thinking of growing it out, though (such a pain!). When my hair's long, it's wavy/curly, and although it takes so long to dry and it's not as flattering, I do miss the curls.

So, whatcha think? I'm 40 yrs. old, dark brown-hair, hazel-eyes, light olive-skin, 5'6 and 125 lbs. Am I too old for long hair again?
I am in my late 30's and have waist length hair, my mother's hair is also long and she is in her 60's you are never too old for long hair!

Oops that reminds me. My mom-mom still has long hair and she looks great. No it's not super long but it's about shoulder length, maybe 2" longer when it's straight and not puffed up.

Anyone think my sis was a better brunette btw? Not to bug but I'm itching to know if anyone else dislikes brown to blonde conversions!
