I have had my hair wrapped several times during past trips at the resorts we were staying at, but are there any places outside the resorts (like the parks, DTD, PI, etc) that does hair wrapping, as well?

We are staying at the Swan this trip, and I am just assuming that hair wrapping is not done there, as it is not operated by Disney. If I am wrong, however, and there is hair wrapping at the Swan/Dolphin, could you tell me where? :confused3

You could walk over to the Boardwalk and have it done there in the late afternoon/early evening.

My daughter had her hair wrapped at AK near the Merchantile store (sp?). It was done on Nov 4th and is still in!! We are going back in three weeks and she wants another one! We stayed at the BW and they did in fact have a hair wrap booth that was open in the evening.

I have seen hair wrapping being done at Swan/Dolphin down by the Grotto pool in the past. You can call the resort and double check with them to make sure it is still offered.

In MK you can have it done at the exit to POTC - and I have seen it in AK but I can't remember where. Though your not staying at the Boardwalk its a very short walk from the Dolphin to the Boardwalk and IMHO they do the best job there.

I am pretty sure all the resorts including S&D have the wrapping stations by the pool area so you may be pleasantly surprised. The S&D have a wonderful salon as well and my dd's had their hair done in cornrow braids one trip instead of the wrap and loved it. More $$ and you need an appointment but less hassle for the remainder of the trip!

Hi, last August we stayed at the Dolphin. My girls both had their hair wrapped there. There is a little stand over by the pool area. There is also a little stand on the boardwalk. We stayed at the BW over Thanksgiving, but didn't see that one open much, though. :confused3 We could see it from our balcony and my girls were keeping an eye on it so they could run down if it opened, but no luck. When we moved to the Poly, they had them done by the pool. My little one's is still in her hair!!

Have fun!

Thanks everyone for your replies!

I called the Swan and sure enough they do hair wrapping at the pool area like other resorts. I thought I wanted to get it wrapped again, but after one of the poster's mentioned their daughter's getting cornroll braids, I am starting to want that instead!

Does anyone know about how much this would cost? The wrapping for me was usually around $30 because my hair is fairly long and I liked alot of beads, but if the braiding isn't much more, I will get that done instead. Where can it be done? How far in advance do I have to make the appointment?

Thanks again!

unless, getting your hair wrapped is a tradition, why not have a friend or family member do it at home? It is very very easy. You actually paid $30? I am not putting you down, just can't believe they charge that much. hhhhmmm maybe i will set up a stand.......... :hippie: j/k. Just thot i'd suggest a way to save a few bucks. It really is easy.

I get my dd's hair done in twisties before we leave. She is a gymnast and we get it done for competitions all the time and thought it would be a good idea for our vacation. It costs about $20 for twisties to the crown of her head. Much cheaper than anything down in Disney, especially since her last wrap the year before that was $32 and she cut it out once we came home. I know that they will do twisties at Sea World, because last year when we were there, they saw dd's hair and the lady said that she could do and right then and there started doing twisties, her first customer was our friend's sister. So Sea World's twisties were inspired by my dd!

Twisties?? My daughter is expecting to get her wrapped, but now I am curious about twisties. Does anyone have a photo?? We do plan to spend one of our last days at Sea World. Thanks.

Hi, sorry for the delayed response, I really don't get online over the weekends. Let me look through my dd's gymnasts pictures and see if I have a good shot of her hair and I will send it to you so you can see.

There is a hair wrap booth at DTD in the Marketplace, next to/behind Pooh Corner (aka World of Disney Kids).

As for the cornrows, they do these at the Nikki Bryant Salons on property. I go to the Ivy Trellis at GF to get my hair colored every couple of months and they will do a half head (crown area) and a full head. I may have a price list at home, I will try to check tonight for you. There are NB salons at the Coronado and Saratoga, and I think there is one at the Dolphin or Swan.

ohhh im also interested in the cornrow information. every time i go to disney i always get a hair wrap...haha call it a tradition. but now the corn rows are sounding like a nice alternative since ive always wanted them and didnt know disney salons did them. if anyone has the info or pictures can someone send them along to me? thanks bunches! :tink:

Thank you for the info, Doombuggy! If you do happen to find the price list for the corn rows, I would certainly appreciate it if you posted it. Thanks again :)

Sorry for the delayed response - I finally found the list:

Half Head of Braids $45; Full Head of Braids $100+ (it I think if your hair is really long it costs more, thus the +)

They also French Braid ($25). These gals do good work. They are all registered cosmotologists (did I spell that right?). The lady I go to has been one for at least 25 years and hails from NJ originally. I usually go to the Ivy Trellis at the Grand FL, but they do have other salons accross property, and they do the braids at all of their salaons. Ivy Trellis is open from 9am to 6pm daily (ie every day). Their number is listed as 407-824-3000 (I think this is the main switchboard at GF - if so, ask to be connected to Ivy Trellis).

Please be aware that if you make a ressie, there is a cancelation policy. They do take walk-ins, if they have time available.
