Hello Everyone! :flower3:

When getting hair and makeup done did you offer your wedding party to have it professionally done or that they could do their own? Who pays for this service? For a 10 am ceremony time what time should hair/makeup show up? If you have no time to do a trial beforehand, do you have any suggestions on who you feel is the best to do hair and makeup on that day...since everyone will be meeting for the first time?

Thanks! :thumbsup2

The timing of how early to get hair and makeup done really depends on how many girls you are having and who is getting hair and makeup or just hair or just makeup. You probably need to start early enough so it gives you plenty of time to get dressed and if you are having pictures done beforehand. We just asked who wanted to have their hair done professionally and who wanted to do their own. My daughter had 5 bridesmaids and all but two of them did their own, plus I had my hair and makeup done as well as her aunt. Everyone in our situation paid for their own. We used Ana from Beaute Speciale and she was great!!!!!!!!!! My daughter had a trial run with her about a month before the wedding, which is very good to do since she needs to know how you want to wear your hair and it gives you a chance to meet her etc. also, to try your hairdo with your headpiece and veil. Her website is www.beautespeciale.com She is very popular with Disney weddings and has been doing it for quite a number of years.

I think it's customary to have everyone pay for their own, unless you're requiring them to all have their hair done in the same style. Why don't you arrange for people to get together for a light in-room breakfast so they can mingle a little bit before having their hair done?

My mom and I used Anna from Makeover Majic, but I was only so so about her...

- I'm arranging for them to have it professionally done.

Who pays for this service?
-We are. Well technically my dad is. I could just see there being problems with people paying individually - people forgetting their credit cards, or cash and having to pay anyway. For the price, we figure it's not bad to avoid that stress.

For a 10 am ceremony time what time should hair/makeup show up?
-It depends what time your pictures are... and how many people you're having done. Always go earlier than you think you should - people are always late and there are always crisises!

- I just had a trial with Patricia LeJeune and she's incredibly awesome! I showed her a picture and she did her magic. I could have gone out right then and there to be in my wedding. Can't say enough positive about her! www.lejeunepca.com

If we can possibly afford it, I'm planning to pay for my bridesmaids' hair and makeup as part of my gift to them. I don't think you can ask them to get professionally styled unless you offer to pay for it - but just my opinion. I don't want to be a nightmare bride but I do want everyone's hair professionally done and in the same or similar styles, so I'm hoping to be in a position to spring for it. Also I think it's a nice thing to do for your girls (if you can afford it) when you're having a destination wedding. Plus, it's a fun moment of bonding between you and your bridesmaids while you're getting ready the morning of! I'm considering doing manicures/pedicures the day before as well, and maybe sending the guys off golfing or to Disney Quest or something. We'll see on the nails... depends on the budget. Just a note - I'm only planning to ask 3 or 4 girls to be bridesmaids. If you had a bigger number this could really add up fast!

I was a bridesmaid in a wedding that was HUGE, and well frankly I didnt know the bride very well, she was marrying my DF friend. The hair & makeup were scheduled as a group and was going to be 220 each, so I opted to get my own done elsewhere, which she was not thrilled about. And by not thrilled, I mean very angry. I was glad I did too, lol, apparently she booked a Mary Kay woman to do it, and she didnt have any experience with hair at all. They all had the exact same hairstyle, which was a standard bun with tendrils. They all had the same exact makeup on too, which was not flattering for most. The bride had to wash it all off and re do her own. ANd then they all got solicited for makeup & hair for months to follow. That wedding cost me WELL over 1000 bucks for just me, and there was no Disney involved. If I had known that going in, I never would have said yes.

Please just be wary that its a lot of money to be a bridesmaid and all the "little things" do add up quickly! I think if you can afford to pay for them, that would be nice, and if you can't afford to, then try to pick something reasonably priced or give more than one option. I ended up paying 70 for my updo and had my sister do my makeup.

I paid for my bm's to get their hair done and asked them if they wanted their make up done and they paid for that themselves, they were all happy to do that.

Check out... http://www.debrasdos.com/index.html

Tell her I recommended you and see what prices she'll give you. She used to work with Disney weddings when they still used Disney's cosmetologists. I work in tv and work with her every week. Her team is wonderful :) If you tell her I sent you, I bet she'll give you a reasonable deal. She's amazing!

I'm only having two bridesmaids and I gave them the option to get their hair and make-up done professionally (I'm using Anna from Beauty Speciale). One is going the professional route (and paying for it herself) and the other is doing her own. If it was in the budget I'd pay for them both, but since I don't care about them having matching hair and make-up I don't mind how they decide to get ready.

In Philly it's pretty much standard that everyone goes to the Hair Salon together and each BM pays for themselves - as far as I know. I set-up Ana from Beaute Speciale to come for the wedding day, I had a trial set-up for my Engagement Shoot last August and showed my BM's the pics of my hair & make-up (really the only problem everyone had was that no one but me knew the stylist, almost all of us go to the same Salon, my one BM's cousin is my stylist)

I told them Ana was going to the room and told them the prices of hair & Make-up. My Sister (MOH) said she wanted her hair and Eyes-only done with Lashes, my niece just hair, Bridesmaid Alyssa hair & make-up, my mom just Hair. So then I mentioned it to my future SIL that she was coming to the room because we were trying to figure out if we should pay to get Flower Girls Hair done, and she asked if she could get her Hair & Make-up done.

I also understand that everyone could have very well said 'No, Thank you'. Also, I'm not going to ask them to get a specific style because I'm not a fan of the same style look for BM's (they all have different dresses anyway). However, I'm going to get a nail gift certificate for them all as part of their present.

As far as timing goes, ask your stylist what time they recommend starting. I told Beaute Speciale I had x number of Hair & Make-up and they told me the start time. HTH!

Just like Caroline and LuLu, I paid for my girls to get their hair and makeup done. But this was mainly because if I "offered" it, some would have declined it, but with a 10:00am ceremony, there were no other options for having it professionally done. So, I just took the guess-work out of it!

There's no obligation to pay...unless you're requiring it. In our case, I really wanted all of us to get ready together. The only way to ensure that (without being a bridezilla like mimi encountered!:scared1:), was to pick up the tab. It ended up being one of my favorite parts of the day! But like I posted in another thread...it mean getting ready MUCH earlier. It took us over 4 hours for 6 girls' hair and makeup with two stylists. I suppose if you wanted to sleep in, you could ask Patricia if she can bring a 3rd or a 4th person. Not sure if she has that option, though.

We also paid for everyone to have their hair and make up done professionally. By everyone I mean my 2 BM's, my mom's, and my hair and make-up; and my FG's hair (it was simply curled under w/ 2 crystal barrettes and my hair/make-up artist charged nothing for her). I (unlike a lot of brides on here) used Lisa Pena. She had been a cosmetologist with WDW for many, many years and was one of DFTW's cosmetologists before they discountinued the service. She was Absolutely Wonderful. Was early for both the wedding day and the MK shoot, was professional, and such a wonderful person. I was fortunate enough to have a trial run (but probably would've gone w/ her regardless thanks to my WP's recommondation) and she opened up her home to my mom and I b/c of our schedules. Beyond that, my BM's, who were super nervous-- ended up SO happy! Lisa is not only sweet, but so accomadating and professional! She's on the list that DFTW provides and has launched a new website (that I know she keeps adding too). www.lisasmagicalweddings.com

I also will mention that Yolanda Winters did my hair and make-up for the WE TV special; she also used to work for DFTW and WDW with Lisa and is absolutely awesome as well. :goodvibes

Hold on, are you IN that TV special, Disney Dream Weddings?? I've seen this, but not since joining the boards... if there are Dis brides on it, I will be recording and rewatching it!!

The wedding party is very diverse, do they have experience doing different types of hair? Thanks.

:) Yeah, I was the "wishes" bride and Yolanda did my hair/make-up for the interview portion that we were filmed for in the special (Lisa did the wedding day). I actually never even knew of these boards while planning my wedding; Courtney, the "couture" bride had posted here about the special and that's how I found the disboards. In a lot of ways I wish I'd have known about the site, but, then again I'm still SO happy with my wedding. But now it's Really Fun and So Awesome to help other brides after having been through the experience! :goodvibes

That's fantastic! Ha, not to sound like a complete stalker but I just set it up to record. It'll be a whole different experience watching it now! :lmao:

Yes. I know Lisa has lots of experience w/ all different hair types based on the albums upon albums I looked through at her house. I'm sure Yolanda does too since they both were DFTW cosmetologists, but would recommend you looking at their sites to see some of their work and giving them a call. :thumbsup2
