Hair cuts at MK

We have a PS at Crystal Plaza for 8:10am and were going to head to the barber shop right after breakfast to have my DS's hair cut. What time does the line start forming? (it will be a Saturday)

thanks!

We are going also - 1st haircuts are the best - get certificate, mickey ear hat that says 1st hair cut......and Our son will be getting his 3rd haircut - Maura is the one that has done ours for the last 3 years..........
She is very good with shy young ones.. does bubbles, stickers, etc to keep them occupied and to get use to her before she takes those dreaded scissors out. PS we always feel like it is a place to tip --- they are all great and his first haircut the quartet barbershop was in there singing and we got a finished pic with them with big scissors. - :cool1:

How much do you tip? We're thinking of having our youngest get his first haircut there, he'll be 11 months then. Not sure if he'll cooperate though!

I tipped 5 for each kid not sure if that was high or low....I never know the standard on stuff like that...I dont fell like I over tipped but at the Grand Floridian I tipped 25 for my wifes massage and felt that wasnt enuff....anyway that is what I tipped

I'm doing the same thing with my 21 month dd. We're not going till May!! But heck, the 3rd child deserves something a little special for her first cut.

If you really want to get the haircut, it is my suggestion that you go FIRST THING in the morning to the barber shop. A line forms almost as quickly as the one for Dumbo and if you get there too late, you'll wait just as long. It is worth it, though. We try to do it every trip. The boys choose different color gels. It makes for many conversation starters for a few days.

Have fun! :jester:

I'm a 28 year old girl and I think I want the sparkles and pixie dust!!!!!
:wizard: After all, If I go first my 6 year old fairy odd daughter won't be afraid right?....Right? ;)

I would love to see more pictures of hair. I am thinking of doing my sons hair (2.5 years old) when we are there. I am not sure of the pixie dust though with him, he has curly hair and I think it will make it all matted down.

Haha! Thank you!! I'm 23 and thinking I want to do this on my next trip too! Reading about all these kids made me wonder if maybe adults weren't allowed!

Hello Blaze 12,
Here are some more pictures. For the babies, they usually just sprinkle some pixie dust (mickey shaped confetti) on the hair (and they put some in a napkin with a lock of hair). It falls right out. I wouldn't worry too much about it sticking to your son's curls. Our little one had curls when we got there, but :( not when we left. It was really fun. Maura covered our son in Mickey stickers to keep him busy. She was also very fast. We didn't have any trouble. We also got a certificate that I will post a copy of also. I am thinking of making a shadowbox with the photos, hat, lock of hair, pixie dust, and certificate. It was a special way to do a first haircut. My older son really liked his haircut too.

Maura did my son's 1st cut in December also (he was 20 months). The stickers were great - kept him occupied, and then helped to get the hair off of him when it was over! He played with a Tinkerbell twirly-light-thing and paid no attention to her until it was all over when he grabbed the back of his hair, pulled on it, and said "all gone!" Watching the curls fall away was hard, but he looked like such the little BOY when it was over instead of a baby! It's a great way to do a 1st cut.

Maura just gave Haylee her 1st haircut 2 weeks ago. Haylee was starting to be very uncooperative before Maura even started cutting. She pulled out the stickers and it worked like a charm. She cut Haylee's hair very cute. Even put it in a side ponytail, teased it out and put pixie dust in it also. I was a little worried Haylee would try and eat the confetti since she's only 16 months old, but its like she knew she looked VERY cute with it in and never tried to remove anything. Maura even took some extra pixie dust caught me by surprise and sprinkled some on my head, saying Mom needs pixie dust too. We waited about an hour for Haylee's haircut. Definetly worth the time.

Our girls both got their first haircut at Disney! Also if you don't have enough hair for a cut they will decorate it with color and pixie dust for $5. Here's a pic of our oldest DD's Mickey head, and our littlest DD 17 months in the pic with Maura sprinkling pixie dust. Maura seems to be very popular for first haircuts, she does it so well they should make it her specialty. We have gotten alot of complements on the great cut since coming home. :smooth:

Mom2Ashli thanks we love the pics from the barber shop, they are definately something we will treasure, our six year old even gets a good laugh when she see's little DD's face at the barber shop! :rotfl2: Littlest DD never cried, she just kept making faces and at some points she just closed her eyes, but she loved the fruit snacks I packed along with all of the toys and stickers Maura had. That is definately one of our favorite MK moments.

Here's the "I can believe that they would do this to me" look! Believe me she didn't blink, this was a silly habit she had at that age when she didn't want to be bothered by someone ;)
