my daughter will be three on our first trip to disney world! i was wanting to get her first hair cut at disney world. i know bbb doesnt cut hair, but i heard there is a barber shop! does anybody know the name of it? and do they have cute little dos for little girls? would somebody please show hair pics! also are they really high in prices?:thanks:

We had dd5's first haircut there.....it was about 15.00 and they made a big deal out of it, gave her a special set of Mickey Ears, etc. It is the Main Street Barbershop in the Magic Kingdom.

We did DS's first haircut there a few years ago. We have gone back for a haircut or two since. It is wonderful. They make a BIG deal of first haircuts...free Mickey Mouse Ears that say "first haircut" on the back (or let's just say, included in the price). They also do lots of pixie dust sprinkling. The stylists are very consistent and seem to have been there for years. I want to say that $15 sounds about right as PP said. They just don't take any appointments and you will want to arrive very early at park opening if possible, although it depends a lot on the day/time of year you go.

Good luck!!!

I thought the price was very reasonable, especially considering the haircut included a pair of "My First Haircut" Mickey ears, a special certificate ("for Bravely and Cheerfully submitting to our Clippers and Shears"), and a lock of DS's hair sprinkled with pixie dust/confetti as a keepsake. (Our barber, Michal, also dispensed oodles of Mickey-Mouse stickers in an effort to keep our little guy still. He did a terrific job!) :thumbsup2

The Harmony Barber Shop is located just past City Hall. (It's tucked between the Car Barn and Main Street Emporium.)

I highly recommend it!

I cannot believe Michal is STILL there.

My son had his First cut there in Jan 2000 with him when he was 2, now he's 9. It was such a wonderful memory his first haircut and yes they gave his ears and certificate and his lock of hair was on something also if I remember correctly. They blew bubbles and sang some songs, they had this old fashion striped red/white drape over him as he sat in the barber chair. A true picture I cherish and is on my mantle to this day and Michal is in it.
We were happy with the price also. He can always say his first hair cut was at Disneyworld. We live by Disneyland and they don't have one :( So that trip was Magical. :thumbsup2

Yep! As of Fall 2007 (when DS2 had his first professional haircut), Michal was still there. He did an impressive job of mesmerizing DS with stickers, including one that remained on DS's nose the entire experience. He sat completely still the whole time, and that’s no small feat -- considering it typically takes an “army” of people at home to attempt a simple trim.

We arrived right before closing (at 5:00 p.m.??), and there was no wait -- except for one haircut that already was in progress. We definitely cut it kind of close, though (no pun intended! ;)), because we were the last customers of the day. (In fact, the CMs shut the blinds and started to close up the shop while we were there...) Bear in mind that crowds in the Parks generally are more manageable during September/early October (the time of our 2007 visit), so -- as recommended by a pp -- plan accordingly.

Both of my kids have gotten their hair cut there a few times. Michael is great and so is Beverly( I believe that 's her name!) They loved the mickey confetti that was sprinkled on them and DS got a gel Mickey head on the back of his hair.DD got pink gel streaks on top! We were also lucky enough to have the Barbershop Quartet come sing to them while they were both getting their haircuts!:)

My son loved getting his hair cut there. He didn't have his first cut there but he was still a toddler. DH even got a cut plus the confetti.pixiedust:

My ds had his first hair cut there when he was just 13mos (he's almost five now). Totally worth it! The price was really reasonable. You just have be prepared to wait in line unless you're lucky enough to get there when there isn't a huge group of people. They do not make appts. You can see a picture of the front of the barber shop here: http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/guides/magickingdom/mainst-shops.htm

Harmony Barber Shop - Those wishing to get their hair cut at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom, can visit the Harmony Barber Shop located next to the Car Barn on Main Street. Look for the Barber's Pole located just outside of the shop.

In this nostalgic old time barber shop, guests can get haircuts, beard/moustache trims and nostalgic shaving items. Getting your child's first hair cut in the Magic Kingdom will be an experience and something not soon forgotten by you or the child for years to come. Haircuts are $15.00 for men or women, $12.00 for children. No reservations; first-come, first-served. Best time to go is either first thing in the morning or during the parade in the afternoon.

"First Haircuts" are the shops specialty. Children who receive their first haircut at the shop will get a complimentary Mickey Ears "First Haircut" stitched on the back and a certificate of the unforgettable event to take home.

The barber shop quartet "The Dapper Dans" perform daily in the shop each day. Shop hours: 9:00am-5:00pm (times vary, last haircut taken at 4:30pm). Open seven days a week.

Both my kids had their first haircuts there. My dd was 18months and was in desperate need. We actually were on the cruise and decided to hold over at WDW for one day JUST to get her hair cut! So totally worth it!

Have fun!

My daughter didn't have her hair cut there -- we just had it cut before leaving for Disney. However, she did have the confetti and gel put in her hair, so for those out there who don't need a haircut, but would still like to enjoy some pixie dust -- GO FOR IT!

Just one word of caution: soon after we went on Splash Mountain. Unfortunately as we were coming down the long hill, her confetti was flying out of her hair and into the faces of the people behind her and when her hair got wet, the gel began running down her face! :rotfl:

Also, it left quite the mess in the bathtub that evening and my daughter was afraid the hotel was going to kick us out because she thought we broke the tub! :rotfl:

Michael cut my dh hair there in 06 when we went. Mickey confetti and all. It was great! :thumbsup2

My kids also got their first haircut at Disney and it was such a wonderful experience. They love to watch the video of themselves. Make sure you bring a ziploc baggie to take home a lock of hair and pixie dust.

Forget BBB and go to the barber shop. They do a much better job! It isn't a fancy do, but the confetti is so much fun. They cut our three year olds hair and I have tried to get others to duplicate it and I can't. I guess I have to go back there to get his hair cut. That is going to be one expensive hair cut!
