Hi,
has anyone here or their kids ever gotten their hair braided in the corn rows a wdw. If so then were? Also how much money was it? Just wondering if it is worht it this trip/ :earsboy:
6 days till I go!!!!! :cool1:

Bump...anyone? I was just wondering if the hair would break, or if it was ridicously expensive, or even if you can get it done at all on property> I have seen many hair wraping places btu I am tlaking about the braids, hopefully they have it at wdw!

Not sure on the braids or cornrows, but they do have set ups at all of the hotels that do the beads. My daughter has had the beads done on property & it wasn't that much more than off property...think it was $1.75 per inch plus beads & they started at like $2 per bead I think.... I know this isn't what you asked but it is a start for ya

Hey Sharon

We will be staying at Pop Century Feb 16-21. Have you stayed there before?

Mike

Tink 90 - I know exactly what your talking about - I inquired all over Disney for my daughter in the summer of 2003. I was told that he only place @ Disney that does braids (no cornrolls anywhere) is at the hair salon between the Yacht Club and the Beach Club and if I remember, it was pretty pricey too. It's pretty close to Beaches and Cream.

** A great tip for the future (if you drive) is to do what we did on the way home that trip - we stopped in a small town for my DH and DS to visit Big Daddy Don Gartlets Auto Museum and since my DD and I didn't want to go, we had time to kill. :teeth: We stopped @ a small hair salon that was bi-lingual and asked about hair braiding. They did my DD hair in braids to the crown of her head and it only cost me $20.00! We're planning on driving up this summer and taking a slight detour to do this again BEFORE we get to Disney :Pinkbounc

Tink90 - I'm sorry, but I don't have the hair salon address - it was very near the Don Gartles Museum - but coming down from Illinois, it was still a couple of hours from Disney. By the sound of your response about eating off site - this would obviously be to far. ;) I would suggest looking in a phone book when your offsite and see what hair salons are nearby. I have some African American friends tell me that the hair salons they go to braid excellently and really fast and it's not as much money as other salons charge. I hope this helps - good luck :flower:

My daughter got her hair braided at the beauty salon at the Dolphin. The people that work here also work at the salon at the Beach Club. It cost $50 for half her head. They did a horrible job. It was falling out after 2 days. We went back & another girl fixed some of the rows that were falling out. She said that the rubber bands break when mixed with suntan lotion & chlorine, but also let it slip that the rows were not back far enough.

A few days later we went to Universal & my daughter had someone do her hair there. It was done much better and their rubber bands didn't seem to break like Disney's.

believe it is done on boardwalk ...
don't know of prices
seen girls getting it done

when we were on dis cruise
had dd done in bahamas
big mistake
she came home with lice
if you do it,
suggest in USA

The one at the Boardwalk is for colored hair wrapping - it's not hairbraiding.
The are both very cool, but are different. You'd think Disney would add a hairbrading station @ Downtown Disney in addition to the hairwrapping they do. :confused3

I have heard the braiding starts at about $60 for half head and $100 for full.... I have never had it done, so this is only second hand info from another guest. ith tip, and if you have more than one child, that is awfully expensive.

The wrapping is charged by the inch... haven't had that done, either, so not sure exactly how much that costs.

For those who have had the braiding done, doesn't it hurt to sleep on it?

"For those who have had the braiding done, doesn't it hurt to sleep on it?"

My daughter had her full head braided at Universal two weeks ago. She said that the actual braiding hurt a bit, and other than it feeling itchy sometimes there has been no problem. She was advised to wrap a bandana around her head when she slept, and she said that no it was not uncomfortable to sleep with.
The prices that we saw for braiding was roughly $50 for 1/2 your head and $100 for the whole head. At Universal they also offered just doing a couple braids for $5 each.
