Hey everyone. I'm going on the Disney Wonder 11/28/04-4 nights and I want to get my hair braided. I heard that they do offer it as a service in the salon onboard, but you would have to make an appointment right away. I'm wondering if anyone knows if they do and if they do, do you know about how much it is? I have long hair, like 4 inches past my shoulders. I would rather not get the braids in Nassau. Also....Has anyone gotten their hair braided in Nassau? How much did they charge? Any bad experience with getting your whole head braided? And does anyone have any pics? I also heard that it isn't clean to do this in Nassau. Any information will help. Thanks.

Hi kathy,

If you get your hair braided on board, there are sign ups around 5:30 the first night near the WDW theather, near the shops. A line will form around 5:15. You actually don't have it braided in the salon, they'll tell you where when you sign up.

As for cost, my niece paid $22 plus tip for the "crown" style braid and I believe it was $2 a braid.

I have heard the rumors about the Nassua braiders not being very sanitary. If you want to get it done there, here are a few tips.

-negotiate the price, the whole price. Sometimes they'll tell you $1 a braid and then do 50 Braids! So I would perhaps say I want $15 braids for $1 per braid. Or I will pay you $30 to do all the braids, maybe even specify how many for that as well.

-ask if they use small rubber bands covered by the beads. I have heard people mention that they tie the ends with foil then the beads. These come out easily.

-Bring your own comb if you are worried about the unsanitary conditions.

-If the price is too high, don't do it. There are lots of ladies to braid!

-Just be very, very specific as to what you what. Even the style. someone posted awhile back that her dd had her hair braided and it was just braided every which way. It looked so bad, her dd took them out.

Personally, I'd rather have it done on board. If you have problems, you can go see them.

Just a little (unsolicited) advise.... I am going to have my hair braided at my hometown beauty shop just before the cruise. I am doing this for several reasons.

1. I know my beautician and she knows me and my hair.

2. I won't have to take "vacation time" to sit & get braided.

3. It is way less expensive to get it done at home.

4. My hair will already be done for our visit to WDW before the cruise. No time wasted fussing with it every morning!

This is just my suggestion. If you have concerns about the ladies in Nassau, get it done on the ship.
