We had a bounceback offer for free dining from last August. Both the moderates and values only were offered QS - so we went with Pop and a dining upgrade. I was super psyched when Pop started the refurbishments. We wanted to add one more day last week, and to do that we had to switch to Sports. I called 5-6 times but was told there are no more rooms at Pop. Ugh - so now we are staying at Sports. I've never been and always thought that was the bottom of the Disney offerings. Will it be okay? We have stayed at all the other value level resorts.

We have thoroughly enjoyed our stays at all the All Stars with Sports being our favorite. It'll be more than ok. Enjoy

Thanks. We are not sports fans at all. I know it is Disney still and we will have a great time, just hoping the resort atmosphere doesn't disappoint.

I've stayed at all the value resorts. Pop is my favorite, but Sports is my second favorite. Then again, I like sports in general so the theme is fun for me. I would be perfectly happy at Sports.

If you really want to stay at Pop you can continue to call and see if you can get your reservation changed. People cancel all the time.

I was surprised at how much I liked Sports when I stayed there. I thought, like the OP, that this was the least favored resort. But is was very nice and had some great positives. I love Sports and got to stay near the football field. That was fun. You'll enjoy it, I bet.

The main area doesn't feel like it is SPORTS, if that makes any sense. The area by the main pool is more ocean themed, with surf boards and shark fins and lots of blue and green. Sports is my favorite value.

We have stayed at POR twice and POP once. Enjoyed both very much.
This year, we are booked at All Star Sports and I can't wait! We are not into sports at all, but so what? We'll be at Disney! It will be great!

We haven't stayed at Sports but have stayed at Pop twice, ASMo twice and ASMu three times. We much prefer the AS to Pop.

SAME HERE! Especially since the Pop room rates have gotten absurd for a value. I like Sports a lot and I'm not a huge sports fan. The landscaping is very lush and the quiet pool is usually mostly adults during the daytime.

I stayed at Sports in October. Im not a value stayer normally, usually moderate, so I had my doubts about how Id feel about it. I did stay at Pop once and AoA (but was upgraded to a family suite so I dont think that counts since I consider the suites fairy mod level). I did like it and would consider another stay there. I liked the variety of the food court and we did have a preferred room so that may have helped.

We've been to CSR, POFQ, ASMu (one night) and Sports twice. My boys' favourite resort is Sports. We will be staying at POP for our next trip because I want to go somewhere new, but they are dissapointed we wont' be at Sports again.

We've loved it there. The food court was renovated in 2013 (we were there during renovations) and the pool area is well themed and very nice. The bus will stop at the other resorts in August (except MK bus is direct), but you'll be first on the bus, and the first off the bus.

If things don't work out like you're hoping at POP, don't worry... you'll have a great time at Sports.

You're probably disappointed that the rooms at POP are renovated, and yes - the rooms at Sports are older and due for a refurb (I believe they are starting pop-like refurb in ASMo and moving their way to Sports - likely won't get to Sports for quite some time, so I would keep checking availability at POP for that reason alone..

Initially last year I wanted to stay at Movies but it wasn't available when we were ready to book so off to Sports we went. I wasn't initially thrilled with the theme, prefering Movies, but really no worries at all. We had a great time and the theme of Sports wasn't bad at all :) We were driving a rental car and we liked that Sports was the first resort so it was easy to get in and out of.

Last 2 stays were at Sports and Pop... had a non-refurbished room at Pop, but it was preferred and only ~25 yards from the main building which was nice. Other than that though there wasn't a reason I would choose one over the other... and my son would vastly prefer Sports because of the ping-pong tables :).
Food was about the same between the 2, bus service was about the same (even the 2 times shared a bus at Sports it is the 1st drop off).

Guess the refurb rooms at Pop are the difference now... seems some are not quite thrilled with them though, but bigger beds would be nice.

Sports is not really any different than any of the other All Stars. If you can upgrade to a preferred room request Surf's Up. If that is not an option than I would request the tennis buildings. The beauty of staying at an All Star compared to POP is that the resorts are smaller and much less crowded. The food courts never feel over crowded and the buses rarely require that you wait for a second of even third to appear before you can get on.
