Had a nasty, nasty fall yesterday.. Ouch!!

That was nice of you to post. :)

Another "fall" victim here. I had polished the furniture the day before and some of the polish had gotten on our wood floors. I'm walking around in my bare feet (dumb, I know), slip on the floor and CRASH come down right on my tail bone. Incredible back pain. Turns out I fractured (compression fracture) my L1 vertebrae. I'm glad to hear that the only thing that is broken is your coffee mug, and hope you will be feeling better soon.

Owww! Hope you are better soon. Lots of rest and pain meds?

Hope you aren't too sore today C.Ann.

another light headed drop to the floor gal here....... I've had dealing with our on and off for almost 30 years..............a zillion doctors and test later...........told theres nothing wrong ..... I just get lightheaded...... could be MYP, could be my migraines, could be my irreg heart rythm, could be my sinuses... etc etc etc... I'll be fine for years... than I'll have a bout and than it goes away again.....glad to hear u are fine......

SO glad you are well! I *really* think you need to go get checked out! This is not something to ignore! Please go get checked so we can know you are safe :) It might just be a low BP thing, but better to know!

C.Ann, I'm sorry to hear about your fall...I'm so glad nothing is broken (except your favorite mug :sad2:). I hope your soreness will be minimal!
You are in my thoughts!

Brusied tail-bones are terrible! I fell on some ice and I was sore for weeks. I was 20 something at the time:eek:

Hope you feel better soon and your family enjoys bringing your coffee to you while you rest on the couch.;)

C.Ann I'm mostly a lurker, but the ER nurse in me does wish that you would discuss this with your doc; as PP stated, fainting can frequently be caused by arrythmias, and they wouldn't necessarily be something that you would "feel" before or during the episode. It probably was something simple like a quick drop in your BP, especially considering your size, but maybe a check to be sure? and definitely if it were to happen again! Good luck and a I hope that you are not too sore from the fall.

Good luck with the mug - I can definitely relate to that one!

Oh C.Ann, I’m sorry . Nothing quite as frightening to have a fainting spell and not have much control over it. Thank God you weren’t seriously injured and hopefully with all your family's TLC, your aches and pains mend soon. My sister (your age) had a fall on ice this month, unfortunately she wasn’t as lucky as you. Her wrist is now pinned, screwed and plated together, and she’ll undergo a year of therapy.

As for the dizzy spells, you know it goes w/o saying to monitor closely. My Mom sometimes suffers spells know as ‘Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo’ or simply ‘ear rock crystals'. When they dislodge, they can reak havoc and need a simple adjustment. A couple yrs ago my DH had a near fainting episode and I drove him to our dr immediately to be ck’d out and the dr all but laughed at us. She informed us there’s a dozen things that could cause it and unless it happens more than once, there is usually nothing to worry about. Needless to say we chg'd drs, as seniors, didn't like her bed side manner. So pls do do keep ck on your vitals. I think you know your body better than any of us and I’m betting will do what’s best for you. :goodvibes

If you let me know what design your MM milk glass coffee mug was, I’ll be happy to help with a replacement. :flower3:

C.Ann... glad to hear YOU are mostly alright, sorry to hear your mug didn't fare as well. :coffee:

Yikes. Glad to hear that you're ok. I hope you're not too sore! When I read the title of the post I figured you had fallen on ice/snow!

C. Ann, is this your mug?

there are many many others, with different designs, and most are under 10.00.

Yup - that's my mug - the exact same one.. :sad1: Thanks so much for looking on eBay, but I don't deal with them anymore - and wouldn't pay that much for a replacement anyhow (the shipping being the biggest problem - driving the price up much higher than what I'm willing to pay).. It was really, really nice of you to look for me though..:goodvibes

I do have a second mug like that - but it's at the lake - and that's where it stays, so I can use it there.. Any mug that is "milk glass" - and will fit under my B&D one-cup coffeemaker would be fine - so I'm hoping maybe the Dollar Store might have something.. (Yes - I'm cheap - LOL..:rotfl:)

To everyone else who responded: Thanks so much for the good wishes - as well as your suggestions.. The "deal" that was made with my family was that if there was a "repeat performance" over the weekend, I would reluctantly agree to a trip to the ER - or at least an Urgent Care Center.. So far, so good - just getting a little more sore each day..

DD and I both have the same doctor and she has an appointment on Tuesday.. It's a quick recheck - shouldn't take more than 5 minutes - so I'm going to call on Monday and see if they can sneak me in right after her.. It's more of a case of keeping the doctor "informed" - in case anything develops later on.. If the doctor feels I need to follow up with additional tests (within reason), of course I will comply..

This reminds me of being in a car accident.. The first day you don't feel "too bad"; the next day the aches and pains start to set in; and by the third day, you're asking, "Did you get the plate number of that truck that hit me?"

Not complaining one bit though.. Just very, very thankful I didn't break any bones..:thumbsup2

Just saw one of your follow-up posts. You're right, some of the shipping costs are outrageous. In the meantime, take good care of yourself ::yes:: .
agnes!
PS - I had no idea Pepsi had put out so many Mickey Mouse mugs...but they did used to be the Official soft drink of the House of Mouse.

C.Ann... that is too crazy. My MIL has a dusty set of those mugs at her rental property (I think they are still there...) I'd, eh... love to go on over there and "borrow" one for you! ;) ;)

Not sure what caused this -

Of course if it happens again, (or I develop any other unusual symptoms) I'll see my doctor..

Id go to the Doctor this week if I were you

My Momhad a few incidents like that and I wish we had seen a Doctor after the first time-she was having mini strokes. Meds could have stopped them -and her big one has made her unable to care for herself.

I've passed out a few times. One of the first times, was at a Subway, and I fell against a tile wall and onto a tile floor. Spent 4hrs in the ER for them to tell me "sorry... dunno what happened". So the following times I didn't see a doctor after it happened.

My grandmother has passing out/seizure spells that they call TMIs (i think that's the term). It acts like a stroke, but doesn't have any lasting effects of a stroke. She been having them for the past 13-14 years. She's on several meds, but they don't fully keep them from happening. But it wrecks havoc on her memory, and she's never remembered an episode happening. They thought it could be blocked artery, and she had surgery on it several years ago (8yrs ago), but it didn't fix the problem.

So if it's a once in a while event... doctors might be pretty useless. Not saying you shouldn't see one... but don't be surprised if they don't have an answer for ya.

C.Ann glad to hear you aren't hurt too bad!

Do you have low blood pressure? I have extremely low blood pressure and I know exactly what that fainting feeling is like! I usually can get myself to the ground before I completely faint but I have had numerous spells:

1. Carrying my loaded lunch tray to the table on the first day of high school in the crowded cafeteria with WHITE jeans on. We had spaghetti for lunch. Splat! I was mortified.

2. Carrying a bowl of cereal into the living room on a Saturday morning to watch TV. I went down and the cereal was all over the wall.

3. Walking down the hall to the bathroom at my parents house. It was pretty dark. I crashed right through the drywall, but luckily didn't hit a stud or burst through the other side into my brothers room. I was so dazed I thought the cracks in the drywall was blood so I started screaming. My brothers finally decided to check on me. The thought I dropped a TV :confused3 Wouldn't that be reason enough to check on me? My dad wasn't happen about patching that very large hole!

AFter that incident I had a whole work up of tests done (EKG, blood tests, etc) and they concluded I just have low blood pressure. I took salt tablets for years and don't really watch my salt intake at all. I remember going in for my first visit to the OB when I was pregnant and the nurses were freaking out about my low blood pressure. They didn't believe it was normal for me until they called my regular doctor. At delivery my blood pressure actually was in the normal range and I was swelled like a balloon.

I have learned to get up slowly and sit as soon as I feel even slightly faint, but I still pass out from time to time. Hopefully this is just a one time thing for you!!!!
