Had a Bad Day - July 7 to July 20 2006

We were all up at 7 today and had breakfast down in the dining room. We head out for MGM and are actually there for the opening :cool1: Our first one yet.

Mom, Darrin and Sister head off to do Rock N' Rollercoaster. I volunteer to take The Boy to the Villan's Shop.:rolleyes1 I quite enjoyed the store. They had tonnes of Pirates stuff pirate: and lots of stuff from Nightmare Before Christmas (I adore that Jack too!)

Anyway, the other three show back up and they spen some time in the shop too. Sister adores Maleficiant. I bought some pirate pins there too pirate:

Next you, we did the Great Movie Ride. On our way up to it, Sister and I swear we heard Harry Potter music...now I'm suspicious. Anyway, the ride was great, and we got the gangster. I loved the Oz part too.

Then, we split up. Mom took The Boy to the Honey I Shrunk the Kids playground. Darrin, Sister and I went to Tower of Terror. I think DArrin quite enjoyed it. Then, soon as we got off, Sister and I hopped in the Fast Pass line and went for another go. Now, I have a confession to make. This was our third time on the ride, and we had been talking about this on our way through the line. Well, when we got into the holding room with the video, we were talking about the ride. Then, just before the lights go out, I said "The best part is when you find out that THIS is really the elevator!" About 15 heads snapped around to look at me before the lights went out. :rotfl2: Also, we had figured out where the camera on the ride was, and made sure to make an over-the-top face for our pic.:scared1:

After that, we went and found the other two. We also got to meet Woody, Jessie and Buzz. Then we did Muppets, which was pretty good. Then it was off to...INDIANA JONES! :woohoo:

Well, they pic people out of the audience and *I* got picked! :yay: I don't know why I volunteered, because being in front of crowds terrifies me! But, I stood up and screamed, I got picked and off I went to sign the waiver. :rolleyes1 They dressed me as a peasant, and then I waited my turn to go up. The CM directing us was from Nova Scotia, and her and I had a chat.

Once on stage, they took us through directions, and this BIG Irish man had to pretend he was dying. Well, he decided he wanted ME to catch him! It was...a struggle. Then, we played the part of peasants, and I got to shake the hand of Harrison Ford's stunt double. Which, through association, is like getting to shake Harrison Ford's hand.

We stopped at Fairfax Fries for lunch. Then it was off to Beauty and the Beast, which Sister really wanted to see. The Boy did not seem to thrilled, but he had gotten into a bit by the part where they are hunting the Beast.

Then we did the Backlot Tours. As we are walking to the loading deck, my Pirate Sense starts tingling. :sail: Off in the bushes, behind the building, I spy one of those big cages made out of bones that was in POTC: Dead Man's Chest. I grab Sister and point it out to her. Sadly, I don't have a picture of it and I am POSITIVE it was an actual one from the movie :cloud9: On the tour, we also see a Captain Jack costume that was actually worn by JOHNNY DEPP!!! It actually touched his body! :faint:

After the tour, we walked through a section where they had costumes that were actually used in movies. We say Darth Vader's and Barbossa's.

Once outside, we got to meet the Power Rangers! I am a Ranger fan from way back and loved getting to meet them. One Ranger punched The Boy in the head by accident. I would just like to comment that we DID NOT sue. :rolleyes1 We also cracked up when we say that Green Samuri Ranger seemed to have a crotch sweat issue. :crazy2: The Boy informed us after meting him that it was not crotch sweat, it was just a shadow.

Then we left and went back to our room for supper (left over's from our "home cooked meal" from last night). Then we headed for Epcot (or Ebcot, as Darrin calls it).

We did Ice Station Cool, but they were out of most of the drinks. Then we did Innoventions West, and did the thing where you bulid and race (on a computer) your own robot. Then we really built little plastic robots afterwards. The Boy also e-mailed a message to his uncle and his uncle's girlfriend.

Then we did Mission Space (wimpy version) and watched the Circle of the Life video. Then...I guess we must of went back to the hotel. This is our last night at Plam Suites.

Tomorrow is Blizzard Beach and Downtown Disney.

I really love your trip report, very entertaining. It's great to read about a fellow Canadians trip to the World.

I love seeing fellow Canadians reading my report! Will you be writing one when you get back from your trip?

Wow, I'm on the ball again! Here are pics from MGM...

I love seeing fellow Canadians reading my report! Will you be writing one when you get back from your trip?

Most definitely. It should prove to be a very interesting trip as my two brothers (21 and 18) are quite the characters. They love to clown around.

I was not intending to get involved in another TR, but alas...here I am involved! :hippie: Thanks!

 Looks like you and your family had a great time!

Can't wait for more!! :rolleyes1

Thanks guys ;)

Your Mom is a brave woman! Three kids, 23, 21 and 18? Should be fun though. We had a great time, and there is a big age gap between us (Sis and I) and The Boy. I would love to take a trip when we all get older though...

Your step-dad is a trouper! I'm still laughing at you guys leaving him on the monorail dock when you road up front!! :rotfl2:

I am assuming it is perfectly okay to double post on my own thread?

Mom and Darrin are up at 7, the rest of us are up at 9. Breakfast was...in the dining room, I believe. All of our stuff is packed and we pile it in on top of ourselves in the car. Packed in under garbage bags of stuff, we head off for Blizzard Beach.

I believe we stopped at our new hotel first to see if we can check-in. Mom and Darrin go into the main office, and Sister, The Boy and I stay in the car. That's when I see it...THE GIANT MUTANT GRASSHOPPER!!!! :scared1: It was lurking on a tree right beside our car, watching us, it's huge, nasty, yellow fangs snapping. Of course, our window is down and I'm panicking because they are electric windows and they have the keys inside with the parents. Mom comes out and opens her door, and I start screaming for her to hurry up and get in. She does, and I point out the beast on the tree. At this point, it has moved closer, because obviously it smells my fear and has decided that it wants to eat me. :scared: We cannot check into the hotle, but at least we make it out alive!

First we go to Tike's Peak, and we splash around in the chilly water for a bit. I like my pools to be bathtub water warm. We then head off and leave our stuff at the...Training Camp thing? I can't remember for sure...

Anyway, first ride is Teamboat Springs (I think) (I'm going by Mom's notes and some names are missing). We took the ski life to the top of the mountain, which was sheer terror for me. Anyway, it was the family raft ride (whatever it is called), and it was awesome! A ride we could all actually sit together for!

Next was the Toboggan Racers. Slightly scary. Heights+water=DEATH in my books. Water slides=death for Mom. However, we did it and we survived.

Then we hopped on the Lazy River (yet again, no name). Anyway, we get part away around, then I start feeling rain drops. Sister and I pull our rafts over at the closest stop to wait for the rest of them to catch up. We knew at home, everyone gets kicked off water slides when it rains, and figured it would be the same here.

Sure enough, they come over the speakers and ask everyone to get out of the pools and away from any bodies of water. So, we get out. The Boy, Sister and I get left huddled in a booth with a fountain-pop machine while Mom and Darrin make a run back to get our stuff. We stand together, shivering in a little huddle, watching people run madly for the front, watching bolts of lightenenig that appear to be very close, and being bowled over by people trying to shove us out of our shelter. I just stood my ground. No way was ANYONE making my little brother and sister stand out in a puddle while lightening is striking 4 feet away!:furious:

Anyway, Mom and Darrin return and we make a mad dash for the gift shop near the front. We take a corner, and laugh while people shell out tonnes of money for new, dry towels, just to make a run for their car and get them soaked anyway! :confused3 We try to wait it out, but it doesn't appear to be stopping. So, holding our already wet towels over our heads, we make a break for the car. We manage to make it without getting struck by lightening.

We head back to the hotel, and they let us check-in this time. We rush inside, and stand freezing to death (the air conditioning is cranked) while Mom and Darrin run to and from teh car with our stuff. We dry off, change and hang out in the hotel for a little bit.

We go for supper at I-Hop, which was pretty good. Apparently we had no lunch today...

After supper, we go to Downtown Disney. First we did Disney Quest (at this point, The Boy is having video game withdrawal). A lot of stuff was broken down, and it was actually quite disappointing. Mom, Darrin and The Boy did some virtual reality game, while Sister and I headed off to find Dance Dance Revolution. Well, the one we are used to was broke, and the only other one was really hard, and we only got to use it once because the oter people would not ge off of it. We all did the Mighty Ducks giant Pinball after that.

Then we did a virtual raft ride (I don't think I did though...can't remember why). Then we did virtual Pirates of the Caribbean. I was Captain of course. pirate: After that we left.

We checked out some of the stores, including the Lego store, $10 and Under store and the Pet store. Then we headed back to the hotel.

Well, the pond at the hotel has gators, so we decided to go check it out. We stopped at the front desk and asked for some extre blankets, and they told us they would be back in the room when we got back from the pond.

So, off we go armed with flashlights, and using my superior gator hunting skills, I find his eyes glowing out in the water, and flag everyone over. :magnify: We searched for the other one, but no dice. Sister and I once again lapsed into bad southern accents.

We then head back to our room, to find our key won't work. We try Mom's key too. No dice. So, off we go back to the front desk. It's closed. But, there is a buzzer to ring if you need assistance. Darrin rang it, and few minutes later an old man literally comes out of the bushes to see what we need. :scared1: We are issued a new key, then we head back to our room, and to bed.

Tomorrow it is back to Animal Kingdom.:simba:

Your step-dad is a trouper! I'm still laughing at you guys leaving him on the monorail dock when you road up front!!

Oh, he made it onto the same monrail! But...we didn't bother looking back to see *lol*

I love the pirate duck on the boy's shoulder in his pirate picture :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

You're pretty funny, Pirate's Fan. I love your report. BTW, why so many hotels? What was the name of the third?:thumbsup2

A CM at the shop did that. I had evrything else on him and then the CM said" Wait! Every pirate needs a parrot! Or in this case...a duck!"

You're pretty funny, Pirate's Fan. I love your report. BTW, why so many hotels? What was the name of the third?

We only stayed at 2 hotels. The Palms Suites Lakeside (7-17) and the Tropical Palms (17-20). We couldn't get one for the whole time, so we had to split it up. They were both on the same road, however.

Now I am proud to present...more pictures ;)

The Boy being sad at pet store. He hurt his knee way back at Typhoon Lagoon, and when we were at the Under $10 store, he whacked it and apparently it hurt quite badly.

We booked through Expedia and they would only quote 10 days at only one hotel ( I think they have sinced changed that). I thought you would post the picture of the man-eating grasshopper. And what were the chances of you getting picked for Indiana Jones out of all those people? I think you owe me one for that one. I think you stood out because of your bright blue Mickey shirt, that I must add, I bought for you. You can see a little of the Boy's banged up knee in his sad picture just peeking out from under his left arm.:sad1: I think he was also sad because he knew the trip was winding down. Although he won't admit that.;)

It's nice to have a TR from someone who stayed off property! ;)

For our 2 family trips to Disneyworld we stayed at the Days Inn Suites and rented a car. Hotel was $59 a night and had a kitchen! It was perfect for a family of 5! :thumbsup2 Only once have I stayed on property and that was with DS's marching band in Feb 2005. However, I do get to stay at POR in Nov!

So when are you going to post more?!? Soon I hope! :rolleyes1
