Had a Bad Day - July 7 to July 20 2006

You guys are adorable in those bucket hats :) The Boy looks happy to met Stitch in real life! I hope you took him on Stitch's Escape?

Did your family ever argue about what to do next? I find that happens when there is more than 2 people, everyone wanting different things.

Your pirate in the gift shop looks like a Disney VIP Guide.

My quote didn't work oh well. I just noticed that you don't have your bucket hat on in the chip & dale pic. See if you had your hat on you wouldn't have gotten molested by Dale.

Actually, we did not fight about rides at all. We all wanted to do everything, so there was really nothing to fight over. Oh, and what is a Disney VIP Guide?

July 10, 2006

Darrin was up early today (again). The Boy, Sister and I got to sleep in to around 10. Mom and Darrin went and did laundry, and when I woke up I ahd no idea where they were. I was slightly freaked out that they were gone, because on vacation, Mom normally doesn't let us out of her sight. We had breakfast in the room.

Since we slept in so late, we decided to do Typhoon Lagoon. First up we did the giant wave pool (the name eludes me). It was really neat, but the waves were huge! Seven feet tall huge! I am not a strong swimmer, but I actually braved going out quite deep in the pool. The waves are so big they knock you about 10 feet backwards. It was terrifying to watch a 7 foot wave of water and tourists coming at you. The Boy is not a strong swimmer either, so he stayed in the shallows for the most part. Every time a BIG wave comes, they blow an air horn. Every time, The Boy would scream and run further into the shallows.:scared1:

Next we did Castaway Creek, where you just lay on tubes and float around the park. We tried to stay together in a group, but it was almost impossible. This is wher The Boy became "The Boy". He atrated floating way ahead of us, so I stood up in the tube, Sister (in her tube) held on to mine and I ran after him yelling "We're coming Boy! We're coming!" People around us found this amusing, and he bacame "The Boy" after that. :goodvibes This is also where a kid who was goofing around on his tube fell and smashed his head into the back of Mom's. He almost knocked her out he hit her so hard.:scared:

After that, Sister did Storm Slides, but went by herself. Mom, The Boy and I were too chicken and I'm not sure why Darrin didn't go. Next up was Gangplank Falls, which is a family raft ride. They only allowed 4 people to a tube, so Sister and I went together.

Then Sister and Darrin did Shark Reef. This is where you get to swim along the top of a tank that has tropical fish and Leopard sharks. Mom and The Boy didn't do it because they cannot swim well, and I didn't do it because you had to take your glasses off to wear the goggles. If I couldn't wear my glasses, I couldn't see, so there was no point of doing it. After that we went back to do the wave pool for a bit longer, then we left.

This may be the first day we heard the song "Bad Day" by Daniel Powter. This ended up becoming our Disney theme song, because we heard it every day, several times a day. We are now all in love with the song and get really excited whenever we hear it. I know it seems ironic to be at Disney and have "Bad Day" as your theme song, but it just fits somehow. I'll go into that a bit more later on.

Apparently we didn't have lunch today. We had supper at the Golden Corral, which is a buffet. After we got there, we were over in the dining room trying to find a table, our waiter ( a young guy) came up to The Boy, Sister and I. He was being uber-friendly and cheerful. When we sat down, Mom was teasing me about all the young guys liking me ("Jamal" still smiles or waves when he sees me at the hotle). I say that maybe he thought Sister was cute. The Boy pipes up and says "Maybe he likes me!" :lmao: After that, would tease The Boy about his Golden Corral boyfriend.

After supper, we went to Universal Studios. Am I breaking some law by talking about this on a Disney website? I hope not. I really don't want to get banned. *LOL*

First up we did the Shrek 4-D movie. Of course, The Boy refused to wear his glasses for almost the whole movie. The Boy had a traumatic experience at his very first 4-D movie in Niagara Falls. Ever since then, he flat out refuses to wear the 3-D glasses. I think he put them on a few times, but has them off for most of the movie.

We also did Twister, which was really incredible. You get to stand and watch the tornado coming. The winds are high, it pours down rain, there is thunder, a real tornado, explosions and everything. It was really awesome, although The Boy was scared at first. he quite enjoyed when the cow flew by though.

Next was Jaws, which The Boy had been waiting for. He has been a Jaws fan for years. The ride was really fun, and we got wet, there was explosions, and all that other fun stuff. It was one of my favorites that we did. The shrak was not overly life-like, but he was huge. You got chills when you saw that ominous fin coming at you through the water.

The we did the Men In Black ride. The ride was sort of like the Buzz Lightyear one at Disney, only you are shooting a bunch of aliens.

We ended off the night by watching the 360 degree Lazer Show. In the river that runs through universal, they had these 3 huge globes. They played various movie clips, while playing music and being accompanied by projections on the buildings, lazers and fireworks. It was really neat.

After that, we left. On the way out of Universal on the moving sidewlaks, Sister and I were dancing along to the music they were playing. We look over to the other sidewalk, where we see 2 boys dancing as well. We found this quite amusing. We were all wearing white shirts as well. it was nice to have partners to Bad Dance with.:dance3:

Tomorrow is MGM and Epcot!

QUOTE]

Nicole was right, we didn't fight about what to do. I told them what to do and they just fell in line like good little soldiers:rotfl: Actually before we went, I made a list of all the rides and attractions and got everybody to pick 2 that they really wanted to do, at each park. Then we tried our best to do those and everything else was a bonus. I really didn't have high hopes of even completing our list as it was July, but we did reasonably well. I think we only missed a couple of things on the list, but got to do some things that weren't on the list. And did some things more than once.

Can't wait for the next chapter.

Nicole did you realize that our trip was exactly 6 months ago today.

LOL at your adventures at Typhoon Lagoon, but poor Mom and her concussion :(

I love Universal too, good times at that park. So The Boy had a Shrek 1D experience, how did he do at the muppets & philharmagic?

The VIP Guide is a guide you can hire to escort you around the park, they have pull for special seating and can get you across the park in a hurry using the tunnels etc... they cost mucho $$ (Celebrities use them) and they wear those plaid vests like, in your pic.

Nicole did you realize that our trip was exactly 6 months ago today.

Now why did you have to go and tell me that?!?! *LOL* It really is sad. I have almost a home-sickness feel about Disney. July 7th this year, I'm dressing in black and having a day of mourning because we won't be at Disney.

I'm reading your trip Report Cass! You crack me up! On to pictures from July 10th!

The Boy and Jaws. For someone who loves Jaws, he doesn't look too thrilled...

Yes I truly do believe I got a concussion at Typhoon Lagoon. My head was sore to touch for days afterwards. I said at the time if he had fell on and hit a small child, they may have been killed. It was so hard I'm sure a child would have been knocked unconscious and possibly gone under the water and drown. It felt like someone had hit he in the back of the head with a 2 x 4. Other than that it was a great day. Universal was fun too. We got quite alot done for only being there 3 hours.

This morning we had breakfast in the room, and then it was off to MGM!

First up was Tower of Terror, the ride that I have been waiting for! Although I am slightly wary of going on it. Time for a side note...

In November 2005, I had a spontaneous pneomothorax (I don't think I spelled that right). This is basically when your lung thinks “Hey, I’ve been good to you for years, and have not got any thanks! Therefore, I’m going to collapse for no good reason!” :confused3 Anyway, they put a shunt in your side and re-inflate it. I was in the hospital for two nights, and have not had any problems since. My doctor said I would be fine to fly when our trip rolled around. The only thing he said was that rides that take up in the air and drop you really fast should be avoided, but probably would not cause any problem.

So, Mom, Sister and I do Tower of Terror, and everything was fine. We loved the ride, and I would have to say it was one of my favorites. I even have the Twilight Zone theme as a ringtone on my cell phone.

Next up was Narnia, which Sister and I were very excited about, since we are both Chronicles of Narnia fans. I was a little put out that we couldn’t take pictures inside because I wanted a picture by the lamp post. Actually, the whole thing was quite disappointing and not like I imagined at all. I found it was lacking in the Disney Magic that most attractions had.

I believe it was after this that we got to meet Sorcerer Mickey! When we were next in line to see him, the CM said “Mickey has to go have a cheese popsicle. He’ll be back in a few minutes.” Mom says “Yeah, it most get hot in there.” (Referring to the suit). The CM stares blankly and says “Hot in there? I don’t know what you mean” Mom clued in and says “Oh, I meant hot in here.” Way to ruin the magic, Mom! :sad2: *LOL*

After that, it was the Stunt Show. The Boy probably enjoyed it the most. We got rained on a bit at this point, but it let up. It was pretty cool, but probably not something I would do again. The explosions were quite intense. You could feel the heat all the way up in the stands!

We had lunch in the park today. We brought peanut butter sandwiches and ate at a table outside. Mom and Darrin disappeared for quite a while at this point. For the life of me, I can’t remember where they went! We had a leisurely lunch and fed a bunch of tiny birds our bread crusts. This was mainly done to keep them from attacking us. They really wanted our sandwiches. Sister spied a line up to meet Robin Hood, so went and jumped in while I waited with The Boy and finished eating. Mom and Darrin showed up and we went over with Sister, but Robin Hood left before we got to him.

I may be wrong, but I think this is where I got abducted by the Green Army Man. I am walking along and somebody grabs my arm, and starts pulling me. I thought of punching the person (first instinct) then realized it was a Green Army Man. I yell to Mom, and they all stop. He points behind him, wanting me to go with him. I point to Mom and say “No, I’m going that way.” He shakes his head, then looks at Mom, and mimes taking me. She nods, so he starts to drag me away. I manage to get him turned around, then Sister joins us for a pic and autograph. When were done, he waves to Mom and starts to drag me away again. Now my family is teasing me about Dale and the Green Army Man loving me.

Next we did Star Tours, which was pretty awesome. We were originally going to do Indiana Jones, but missed it. I was hoping to meet Darth Vader, but none of the characters were around. I really like seeing R2D2 and C3PO animitronics inside the attraction though. Next time we’ll meet Vader. :darth:

As we are exciting into the gift shop after the ride, we notice it is so full you can barely move. This would be because it is pouring down rain. Of course, we have no ponchos. But, being the brave Canadians we are, we run out into the rain and lighting to find a less crowded place to wait out the storm. We end up in a slightly less crowded bathroom. I take the opportunity to dry off under the hand dryer, while Mom stuffs her shirt with paper towel (in the rain, her shirt had become quite transparent). We wait till it eases up a bit, then make a break for the parking lot.

Supper is at KFC, a family favorite (except for Sister, but she got out-voted). In the parking lot I make the remark “Hey! Maybe they have the Twoonie Tuesday deal on!” :headache: Stupid me, the USA doesn’t have Twoonies! I’ll blame that comment on heat stroke.

After supper, we headed to Epcot. First we did Spaceship Earth, which I really enjoyed. Very relaxing, interesting ride. I believe I even got to sit by myself on this one. (**Side-note: Every time we do a ride, there is always the question “Who’s going to sit with the stranger?” 90% of the time, it’s Darrin. Mom does occasionally as well.) Nobody had to sit with one this time though :) Unless every car was for one person, and I just don’t remember...

After that, it was Honey, I Shrunk the Audience (more 3-D trauma for The Boy). I didn’t care much for this one. I found I was just seeing double more so than 3-D, and it got to be really distracting and almost headache inducing.

We ended off the night with IllumiNations, which was really neat. Not as good as Wishes, but still really nice. The family in front of us even got their kids to move over, so The Boy could join them at the fence and be able to see. On the way out we found the twinkling sidewalks and decided to get a picture of us “touching the magic.” We also saw the twinkling bushes, which The Boy said it wasn’t lights, it was Tinkerbelle’s cousins. :tinker:

I can't believe you told the paper towel story. It's a good thing none of us had on white shorts:blush: I believe Darrin and I went to get the sandwiches, he had put them in a locker at the front of the park. We left you guys to rest at a picnic table in the shade while we run to get them. I think we may have gotten a little lost (can you imagine that:laughing: ) trying to find our way back.

I told you I can't remember anything. If we weren't getting the sandwiches, then I don't know where we were. Maybe I was wondering aimlessly looking for more paper towel to stuff in my see through shirt.:lmao:

*LOL* I didn't realize you would care if I told that story. I mean, you said I got molested by Dale!

People are waiting here.popcorn:: What happened to the next day? Maybe a picture? I'd even settle for an embarrassing story about your mother.:scared1:

Geesh, Mom! What's with the pressure? Here's your bloody pics! *LOL*

Us with Sorceror Mickey (Remember? Where Mom ruined the Magic for all the children?)

Sister, myself and the Army Man after the failed abduction attempt

Last but not least, us touching the Magic

What is a Twoonie???

*LOL* Sorry. A Twoonie is the Canadian 2 dollar coin. It has a gold middle with a silver rim. There is also a polar bear on the centre. Maybe I shall find a picture...anyways....July 12!

We actually got to eat breakfast in the hotel dining room! Today it is back to Ebcot(as Darrin calls it), since we never saw much of it last night.

First up is Soarin' and it is our longest wait yet. I'd say around an hour maybe? It felt like that at least. they had those trivia screens on the wall that kept us fairly occupied. The rise itself was incredible. I thought it was worth the wait. Being able to smell the oranges and the tress was amazing. There was also a couple parts where I lifted my feet because I was scared they were going to hit stuff!

Next was the Living Seas. We just looked around in here. Checked out all the fish and the manatees. I thought the big turtles were really cute too.

I believe this is where we first had a rain storm.:umbrella: We ran for cover in a nearby building, and there’s Goofy! I believe this is the only character we all got our picture taken with. Then we decided to walk around the building. This is when we realize we’re at Character Connection (I think that is what it is called. We met Mickey, Pluto, Donald, Minnie (who kissed The Boy :love2: ), and Chip and Dale. Once again, Dale kissed me. I’m wondering if maybe I have a stalker...::cop:

Then we moved onto the World Showcases. Just before we went in, these three teens come out of Canada Pavilion. The boy yells “We are from Canada and we DO NOT live in an igloo!” I cheered and they turned around and waved. First up Was Canada, where we didn’t bother sticking around too long. No igloo there, however.

Then it was UK, France and Morocco. We say Aladdin and Jasmine in Morocco, but never got to meet them because they were getting ready to leave. The shops in Morocco were awesome, and I am so buying stuff next time! This is also where we discovered all the hats!

On to Japan (yet again, really nice shops, and more rain), then America. This is where we had lunch. It was at the Liberty Tree Inn and it was really good. I had turkey on a bagel with salad (why I was craving healthy all of a sudden, I have no idea.). It was really good.

Next it was Italy (bought a pistachio gelato. It was very good). Sister and I also met Foulfellow and Gideon. I got a kiss on the hand from Foulfellow. Then we did Germany, China (more rain), then Norway. We decide to ride Maelstrom here. It was actually a pretty neat ride, although Sister and I were the only two idiots screaming when we thought we were going out through the waterfall. This is also when we started speaking in bad Norwegian accents. Lastly it was Mexico.

Next time we do World Showcases, I would really like to spend a bit more time looking around. We didn’t really see a whole lot in the Showcases.

Next was Test Track, where I left through the Chicken Exit before the ride. They looked like they went super fast, and was told (lung again) any rides that would put a lot of pressure on my chest should be avoided, and on the Vacation Planning Videos, people looked like they were plastered to their seat.

Here is another part that is slightly fuzzy. I think Mom, Darrin, The Boy and Sister came back fairly quickly. I was waiting for them in the gift shop. Mom said they were evacuated. Sister went and lurked over by some CM’s who were saying someone tried to commit suicide. Anyway, they were given Fast Passes to come back, but there was NO WAY I was doing it now! So, we checked out some of the cars and stuff.

Then we did Ellen’s Universe of Energy, which I really liked. The ride was not at all what I expected. I also enjoyed that it was so long. Next we did Mission Space (Wimp Version of course. Lung again). We all really enjoyed this one, even though Sister wanted to go on the Death Version.

Back over to Test Track because it was Fast Pass time. Yet again, I sat out. Actually, I did Dream Chasers downstairs. Not the most exciting thing I ever did. But fairly interesting all the same.

Then, it was time to head out. Supper was at the Golden Corral again. The Boy was excited (he was hoping to see his “boyfriend”.) I was excited, because I was going to a buffet! All went well, until this older women the next table over goes “OH MY GOD! DID YOU SEE THAT! THAT WOMAN JUST PICKED THAT PIE UP OFF THE TRAY, TOOK A BITE AND THEN PUT IT BACK!” :crazy2: We all kind of looked around in shock. The older woman flags a waiter down and recounts the whole thing (loudly) to him. I believe he went and took that particular pie out of the buffet. I don’t think any of us had any pie though...
