H1N1 Poll. Will your child get the flu shot?

Just curious to see the results if your child will get the H1N1 vaccine.

It's not "my" child - it's my DGD (11 yrs. old)..

When and if it becomes readily available (the shot - not the mist), she, her mom, and I will all get it.. My DD's DH probably won't because he has a very serious severe phobia about needles and can't get the mist..

I have a sinking feeling it won't be readily available though until someone is already sick or has been exposed..

I live with them during the winter months and for health reasons, I can't be around anyone who gets the mist.. (Right now I'm still up to the lake..) So - we're waiting (very impatiently) for the "shots" to become available..

Was just wondering because both my kids got the mist last week. I'm still undecided on the H1N1 though...

It's really frustrating because the mist would be so much easier (and in some areas seems to be easier to obtain), but it's not an option for us..

Shoot - at this point in time we can't even get the "regular seasonal flu" shot because everyone is out of it.. My adult DD was able to get the regular seasonal flu shot on Friday, but that was the end of the supply at the doctors office.. Pediatrician doesn't have it and "if" they get another shipment at all, it won't be until the middle of November..

The timing on all of this is really becoming problematic..

The reason I got the mist was they were out of the regular flu shot. I WISH I would have had the flu shot myself. There's a shortage.

The Dr told me anyone born in the 70's has most likely exposed to the swine flu. That is why only kids are dying. The first batch coming out will be for under 22. Then 22 to 65. He said they are not even recommending it for over 65.. I think he said they have been exposed more than once.

I voted yes, but it's sort of a moot point if there isn't any to be had...which so far, there isn't, not here anyway.

We are set up to do school-based vaccine clinics, but can't set a date, because no one knows when/if vaccine is coming or how many doses there will be when/if it does come.

it's not just kids dying or adults with underlying medical problems-and i don't think being around in the 70's is a factor. we've had at least 3 confirmed deaths in our county in less than a month-all were over 40 and only one had an underlying condition. here and in neighboring idaho we're seeing more adult deaths-and most were definatly around in the 70's.

My dr and my daughters Dr won't do the mist either!
My daughters Dr is also not recommending the swine flu shot.

The people that received the trial H1N1 vaccine may be showing NO ill effects for years to come. Just ask the Gulf War vetrans what happened decades after receiving vaccines which contained squalene

I know your question about was children getting it.

I saw so many children sick at the doctor yesterday. They all just looked so miserable and lethargic. This one woman said she had 4 children and it was the sickest she had seen any of her children. The poor baby she had with her sat on her lap passed out like a lump on a log.

I've talked to my doctor quite a bit about this. I have asthma and other respiratory issues. My husband does not have a choice and will have to receive the shot/mist. As of right now I will not be getting the shot but will getting an updated pneumonia shot and a immune booster shot to help fight off this stuff.

She's worried about my husband being given the mist and then coming home to me. They are trying to work to get him and others that may be in the same boat the actual shot and not the mist.

There are NO adjuvants, including squalene, in the shot.

As far as whether my kids will get the shot, the answer is yes. My kids and I got the H1N1 shot yesterday. It should start showing up in local health departments this week and next week (that's where we got ours).

My kids will be getting the H1N1 shot as soon as their ped gets it in. They are saying it could be as early as the end of this week till 2 weeks. I am calling everyday and will pull them out of school to get it if I need to. We have yet to get the seasonal flu shot because the office is only getting small batches in and they are going quickly. I do not want them to miss out on the H1N1 one.
Unfortuntely due to ds's asthma none of us can get the mist.

Our county health department is doing 2 mass vaccination clinics at the bigger schools. One is our school and I filled out the paperwork already to bring in. It's on November 14th. I hope they don't get sick before then.

One elementary school in our county is out this week due to 1/2 the classrooms being empty on Monday. Another elementary school is closed, but that's in another county decently far from us.

Part of the problem with the H1N1 vaccine is there is *so* much misinformation out there.

My kids will be getting it, now that I learned/realized it's produced exactly like the seasonal flu shot ~ only with a different strain of influenza.

And if the strain would have been recognized sooner, it would have been in the regular seasonal flu shot. And all this craziness/paranoia about the "extra" vaccine would have been avoided.

Mine will be getting it as soon as it is available. There was a clinic scheduled at their school for this Thursday, but it was cancelled because no vaccine is available. There is another clinic scheduled for Nov. 14th, and we have pre-registered for it. I hope vaccine is available.

DD10's class of 18 had 7 kids, plus the teacher, out yesterday. I don't know if swine flu has been diagnosed, but I am keeping my fingers crossed that my girls don't get sick.

We got out seasonal vaccine last weekend, but DD9 needs another dose, and I have no idea if it will be available when it's time. I have the same concern for the swine flu 2nd dose for kids under 10.

There are NO adjuvants, including squalene, in the shot.

Canada has two versions of H1N1 vaccine: an adjuvanted vaccine that has the brand name Arepanrix and a vaccine without adjuvants.

So, there are adjuvants in some of the batches. Don't know if the USA will see them, but for our friends in other countries, choose wisely
