My daughter has suddenly come down with severe leg pain to the point where she will not let me put her down and will not stand on her own. Low grade fever, cough. The doctor said she has seen leg pain at H1N1 onset and that's probably what we're facing. Anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks in advance.

Not at all. Is it just one leg?

My DD had the H1N1 flu a couple of weeks ago. Started with high fever, about 104, then vomiting, fever went down to about 101 next day, then 99 next day. Didn't eat for 3 days, (did keep fluids in her), then the cough started to get bad. She couldn't stop coughing, finally day 5 (after trying our nebulizer with Xopinex, it's my son's) went to the doctor. She got put on Prednisone.

No joint or muscle pain at all.

Still, I guess it's possible. I'd go in and get a diagnosis.

Both legs. Have another call in to the doctor now. She just finished a round of prednisone for another issue and is on xopinex and pulmicort for underlying respiratory issues. Fever at 102. Thanks for responding.

I had severe leg pain after the Flu A/B vaccine---and I know several other folks who had the same experience.

Hope she gets better soon!

Could it be fifth disease? I got it from my kids 3 years ago - horrible joint pain - I mean so bad worse than childbirth. I still have lingering pain in one elbow.

My DD(13) never went and saw the pediatrician, but I did check with him and said leg and arm pain are symptoms. This lasted, however, only about two days for her and not as severe sounding as your issue. I did not ask, nor was it communicated that this could lead to something more serious.

Just keep in contact with your pediatrician.

I hope she does better we had two potential cases here, but all the docs are saying the same thing. Stay home and defend, unless they get dehydrated or have a fever for more then 5 days (I believe of 102 - but can't remember exactly). Everyone, beside DH, have been vaccinated as of to date.

Thoughts and prayers that she gets better soon.

My DD had H1N1 and complained to me about leg pains but not before getting sick more towards the end of everything, I didn't even think about it being part of the virus but maybe it was :confused3, but could also have been some sort of vitamin deficiency since she did not eat alot, now that she is feeling better they have gone away.

That was one of my daughters main complaints. She kept telling me her leg hurt. She also said her head hurt. She was sick at her stomach, but never vomitted. She would cough periodicall, but nothing severe. Her fever was 103.9and Tylenol would not work. Motrin would bring it down to 101.7. Like I said, her leg pain was a huge complaint and the doctor said she is hearing a lot of that. It is a real common complaint.

arthralgias and myalgias of the legs in H1n1 and seasonal flu is not abnormal.Lots of kids get the pain in the arms ,legs, groin, underarms.

Ds complained of leg pain (both legs) and spiked a fever at daycare a couple weeks ago. Then was extremely tired when I brought him home, had a cough and a stuffy/runny nose. He was 4 days out from his H1N1 FluMist. The ped's office said it likely wasn't a response to the vaccine, but that it did sound like H1N1. He was fine in 24 hours.

my dd(2) also cried with her leg hurting after her H1N1 shot, but I think she also had fifths disease afterwards. After seeing the pp about fifths disease and joint pain, Im not sure if it was from the shot or fifths.

My kids had the H1N1 shot friday night.. my 4yo son was complaining of leg pains sunday and monday.

Now I feel bad because we we out walking around and I told him he was fine.

I had the flu (presumed H1N1) last month. I had horrible, terrible achy legs. It was the worst part for me, to tell the truth. And after a couple days, it stopped for a couple of days, then CAME BACK for a couple of days. I was miserable. I laid on the couch and tried not to move at all for hours.

Remember that dehydration can often cause muscles and joints to ache. I always have horrible leg pain when I get dehydrated; it's the first obvious clue that something is wrong.

My 6 year old daughter also complained of leg pains at the onset of her H1N1 bout. She had never said that her legs hurt before.

Thanks, everyone. It turned out to be synovitis. She ended up at the hospital and is now being monitored from home.

And, I have had the H1N1/joint pain connection confirmed by many doctors over the last 48 hours!!!

I appreciate everyone's advice, input and concern.

My son had synovitis a few years ago...scared me half to death. Out of almost nowhere he was a lot of pain and refused to walk. It did resolve quickly but it sure is scary I know when it happens.

Good luck! I hope she is feeling better soon!
