H & V's Or Mama's

I've eaten at each place only once. H&V is pretty bland buffet fare, but at least you will find some things that you like. I loved the little key lime tarts for dessert myself, and my DH liked the pot roast.
Mama Melrose was AWFUL. My daughter, a pizza nut, couldn't eat hers. The pepperoni was chunky, spicy and gross. Our food arrived after about 45 minutes and was ice cold (I think due to the freezing cold A/C.) This was a bad, bad meal - our family voted it the worst out of 4 trips to the World.
So I guess it's all a matter of taste and of luck.

I agree w/ MM's; we ate there a couple of weeks ago on our trip; the server was wonderful; the food was fine- and if you're on the regular dining plan, w/ the Fantasmic pkg you get appy, main and dessert (yeah). The food wasn't amazing, but it was good, and there was plenty. I would definitely go back, esp. for the pkd.

I ate at Hollywood & Vine as part of the Fantasmic! Dinner Package and will likely never eat there again. The service was good, but neither my wife nor I cared for the food and would have much preferred to eat elsewhere had anything been available. I have not eaten at MM in almost 10 years so I don't feel that qualified to review Mama's, but it has to be better than H&V.

H&V is a glorified self-serve buffet in a crowded "school cafeteria" type atmosphere The tables are literally 6 inches apart; you have no privacy; the service was horrible (and all they have to do is clear plates and refill beverages). NEVER AGAIN. MM on the other hand is always on our annual to-do list. We usually eat 2 meals there. Private, wonderful food, calm atmosphere....great

let me say neither is all that great. MM is a C+ while H&V is a C

if you are doing the Fantasmic deal you might select the H&V which is the same price either way. MM is kind of pricey in the Dinner package deal

Just ate at Mamma Melrose on Monday 9/22 and I have to say it was WONDERFUL. We were a party of 11 and the service was very good & the food was great. I had a H&V ressie but was scared off by the bad reviews...I am glad I tried MM instead, definitely happy to finally find a place I can eat at while in DHS....tried 50's and Sci-Fi previously and did not like the food... MM will be our new dining place when at DHS.

(Can you tell I liked it??? )

We always eat at Mama's. Yes, they tend to rush you .... . But ignore it and go at your own pace. We have always liked the food. And service is not bad, just a tad fast.

It is so funny how different everyones experiences are. We had the slowest service of any meal on our trip at Mama's and it wasn't overly busy when we were there. Our server was busy cleaning tables and sweeping the floor at the large table next to us. Don't they have people designated to do that? I wasn't too pleased with her cleaning the floor and then handling my food.
