H & V Character Breakfast Follow Up

We took DD (almost 6) this am (Sunday). We had PS for 9 am, but they let us in at 8:30. The restaurant was barely half full, and it was WONDERFUL! The whole thing, from the lady who checked us in at the gate to the food & characters, was so worth every cent! All of the characters were wonderful! Pluto put his whole mouth over DD's head and made it look like he was eating her for one pic. Goofy grabbed one of her braids, and held it up to his ear, like he was measuring to see whose was longer. Minnie danced with DD and Chip & Dale were a delight, too. Pluto "licked" just about everyone, and tripped all around the restaurant.

And, I thought the food was great. There was so much of it! The typical eggs, pancakes, Mickey waffles, sausage, bacon and biscuits and gravy, along with a variety of fruit (watermelon, cantelope, grapes and oranges), and grits, cheese grits, cold cereals and pasteries. Oh, and there were some TASTY potatoes, too. Guess I took a holiday from the low carb diet!

Anyway, after seeing some mixed reviews here, I was a little hesitant, but I am 100% pleased! DD said after we that today was the happiest day of her life -- and we did no parks today! We came home! I was all psyched about Cindy's when we go in May, but I'll tell you what, this one will be tough to beat!

Be glad you had the opportunity to enjoy it because according to a thread that was posted on this board WDW plans to discontinue H&V's character breakfast and lunch!!!!! I'm so sad &mad!! We need to start a "don't cancel the H&V character meals" petition and send it to the WDW dining director.

Actually I am going to send an email anyway.

Hey it looks like we'll all be there together!

I started the original thread on the H&V Saturday after we called to make a lunch PS for May 5th. I was really disappointed, because we are trying to do a character meal at every park + our hotel. Now, MGM is no longer an option.

Oh well...

When are they planning on discontinuing the character breakfast and lunch? I have a PS for lunch on the 27th. This is the only character meal my son wanted to do. Please tell me we will still be able to go on the 27th.

I don't want to be the bearer of bad news but it looks like the character meals will end just a few days before you plan to go, on March 23rd it looks like.

Everyone needs to start sending WDW guest services email about this and let them know how disappointed you are about the cancellation of this characater meal.

The more people they hear from the more possibility that something could change.

I'm not a fan of their breakfast (but many are), however I do love their lunch. But even more importantly, the characters here are great! My dd got over her fright of Pluto here, he was sooo patient with her and just wouldn't stop trying to show her that he wasn't scary. Really, she is no longer afraid of him because of the time he took with her at this restaurant. We will miss this and I know she'll ask about it everytime we're at MGM (or should I say, the Studios).

I sent one too letting them know that I was highly disappointed since I had a PS on the 24th. ONE DAY!!! Ok, so they cut that out, cut out Spectro's (1 while we are there...gotta change my plans AGAIN!), reduced hours... I'm not one to whine (lol MUCH!) but......I'm paying PEAK $$$$$ for what seems like VALUE offerings...I've saved for this trip for a very long time, even got a part time night job so that I could save for it, it's a first for us and right now I'm not feeling very "magical" .............sorry to be such a downer.........

I also wanted to do a character meal in every park. Oh well. I guess I'll have to look into another resort breakfast. What a shame. I really wanted to try H&V for breakfast. Did the dinner last year. I'm not sure that Disney will listen to the protest, the almighty dollar is what they are concerned about.

I just sent an email. I am so disappointed since we have a PS for April 16th.

It's bad enough there's no way in heck people can even get a PS for Cindy's. We tried, 4 phones, every morning at 6:30am for 9 days. Now they are going to take stuff away. I don't get it.

Seriously, though, I know the Disney Corp. is hurting financially and that's why all the cutbacks at WDW. Let's all put our collective Disney heads together and help by telling them where they're wasting money, and preserve the Disney magic for ourselves! Personally, I want to see them continue to be a healthy corporation.

I think that if their hotels are not getting filled during peak seasons, they should be more competitive on the prices. I can't believe there's anyone out there who wouldn't choose to stay at a Disney property if they could afford it.

We also had a reservation for the Character breakfast at H&V on March 27th. If I hadn't looked at this thread, I never would have known. I too sent an angry email. I hope it works.

Thanks so much for the info. I never did receive a call from WDW dining to tell me my PS for lunch on the 27th was no longer valid. I just spent 35min on the phone with WDW dining trying to rearrange our schedule. So dissapointing this was the only character meal my son wanted to do (he wants to see goofy and pluto). What makes it even worse is that when I made the PS for H&V I could have had my choice of the character meals and now everything is full. Finally, we were able to get into the Garden Grill at epcot on the 26th for lunch (had to cancel previous PS for Le Cellier which my husband was looking forward to) and also got a PS for dinner at Gulliver Grill at the Swan for the 29th (it's the only way he will be able to see goofy). Has anyone done the character meals at these places?
