H&V Breakfast... How bad?

So I currently have an 8:00 AM PPO ADR booked for Hollywood & Vine. My kids are long past the Disney Junior age but I booked it to make Jedi Training easier. However, everything I read about H&V is negative. Has anyone done breakfast their recently? How was it?

My go-to thought is it is pretty hard to mess up breakfast (I mean all Mickey Waffles should be the same right?) but perhaps I was wrong. Thoughts?

We had breakfast there last summer (all adults so not there for characters). We all thought the food was good and the service was fast. We also enjoyed the characters! We had a PPO breakfast so we enjoyed getting on the rides with no wait after our meal.

I have no idea what the complaints are all about. I personally went back to the buffet counter FIVE times at H&V and once was entirely for a second helping of biscuits and gravy. :D

We went there for breakfast for the same reason - it was exactly what you'd expect for a breakfast buffet. The food was okay, as you said, all Mickey waffles are basically the same. ;) I remember a decent egg scramble and oatmeal. Anyone expecting the California Grill Brunch will be disappointed, but if your expectations are appropriate, you'll think it's a nice breakfast. :)

How bad can buffet with Mickey Waffles be when you are not going for the food, but to be at H&V for a PPO?

But, with ToyStory Land opening in the coming months, your best-laid plans may become moot - since I suspect Park hours will be expanded. Recent example includes Tusker House vis-a-vis Pandora.

We also LOVE eating breakfast at H&V for a PPO opportunity! We LOVE the breakfast - it's quite tasty and we totally just wave at the characters and they move on -we have NO idea who they are! Our boys will be 18 and 16 on this trip so it's just the good food they're interested in!

We've found we can eat and be out waiting at the rope's in plenty of time for the 9am park opening!

I guess my complaint, but I went to a supper buffet, was just that the place was filthy. Dirty counters at the buffet, food items mixing together, like they just couldn't keep up, and the dessert area was really bad, silverware was dirty. I am funny about stuff like that though, but, Ive eaten at a lot of Disney buffets and never had that feeling at all. But, like I said it was at dinner, so after a busy day. Breakfast being at the beginning, everything should be sparkling!

I also am a contrary opinion. It is the only place to make my never again list at WDW. That being said I have done the breakfast twice for the Meet & Greets which were very good. And one of the two breakfasts they did mess up the waffles.

Ahhhh I have a standard for cleanliness at a busy buffet, versus a buffet that just DOESN'T clean...

I guess our H&V breakfast visit was a rarity in that we pretty much had the characters to ourselves, a full buffet and not many people making ADR's at rope drop that day?

I had to forgive some of the gravy drips (as some were mine... oops!) and the staff were actually COOKING things, so they were working on the missing items quickly. Our server was awesome and kept coffee flowing, and I hung out with the characters (who I researched before we got there, hahaha) so that I could help them keep in-character. And they pretty much had to roll my satiated roundness down the front steps into a gorgeous sunny day... LOL

We had a great experience with our PPO breakfast! Our server was great, food was great too. We were there for the characters as well as Jedi sign ups. It took a long time for us to see the characters. We ended up having to wait around 15 minutes after we finished eating to see Sofia the First. If she wasn't my daughter's favorite, we wouldn't have waited. It was so nice to be able to sign up for Jedi training without the wait and rushing crowds! We were able to sign up, eat and still be done for rope drop.

We eat there almost every trip mostly for the same reason as you. We do still have kids that like Disney Jr. though and a kid that is into JTA. It works for them all. I think the food is fine. It is not gourmet, but is not bad either. Standard mickey waffles, bacon, sausage, eggs, etc. I think there was a bread pudding that was ok. It is hard to mess up breakfast too. It is basically your standard character meal breakfast. Characters have always been great too.
