Okay--I got a Gypsy for a great price (it will be under the tree if I decide to keep it) now what do I do with it? Please tell me all the amazing things I can use the Gypsy for :) TIA

Love, love, LOVE my gypsy. You can bring it to crops without lugging all your carts too, you will have the availability to cut anything you've linked on your Gypsy. You will be able to search thru all the cricut carts for items you might want to use. Often I will create designs while sitting with DD on the couch, then cut later. Those are my top favorite features.

You will have to link all your carts to the Gypsy but that goes by quick. I also registered all my carts, that did take awhile, but it is nice to have them registered with Cricut in that rare situation a Gypsy might fail. I have not heard of this happening to anyone I know, but I guess the potential is there for it to happen with anything electronical.

You will be very happy that Santa got you that gift!!

Now that they've updated things so you can design in CDS and save to your Gypsy, I like mine a lot more. (I like the size of the screen on the laptop to design, but LOVE not having to switch out cartridges with the G).

I am new to my gypsy as well. But so far I really like that you can weld letters together. Instead of having to cut and glue each letter seperatley you can weld them together so phrases come out linked together. It saves so much time.

Here's a question--after I link my carts to the Gypsy can I still use them in my machines (ie if I'm using the Gypsy on my "E" can Rachel use the cart on the "baby bug")? Or are the carts no longer useable after you load them to the Gypsy (KWIM)?

You can use the carts, but what you can't do is link them to a separate gypsy. So Rachel can't get a gypsy too and link to the same carts that are linked to your gypsy. Technically (copyright), you aren't supposed to use the cartridges once they are linked, but a lot of people will "store" their linked cartridges at Mom's, sister's, BFF's house. Some people sell them, but if something happens to their gypsy then they won't be able to recover them with ProvoCraft's help.

I don't think you meant to say "you aren't supposed to use the cartridges once they are linked". I think you meant sell or loan?
I still use my carts all the time. I'm really not a big fan of my Gypsy.

How many carts can I link? I have 28 (not too many considering there are like 200). I like that I can design in CDS and then save to the gypsy.

So am I understanding correctly--I link to the gypsy and then attatch that to the cricut instead of using the carts? That would be much more space efficient in my scrapping area ;)

You can link many many cartridges. More than are available yet.

Yes, you attach the G to the E and hit cut. It walks you through the steps (load paper, check pressure, etc.) and does its thing.

What is CDS??

Thanks Jennifer :) I think I'll look at youtube for videos of how to use it, I'm thinking Santa will be putting the gypsy under my tree :)
