I'm looking for long sleave gymnastic leotards. Besides our gym I have found them in Target. The Target ones are really bad. I was wondering if anyone knows other retailers who carry them or can recommend an online site. I worry about buying online when it not a major retailer. Thank You! :bounce:

Is there a Danskin outlet anywhere close to you? I've had good luck finding that type of thing at this store, and usually for a great price.

I have found that the all cotton ones from target are not so bad. (but those velour ones are terrible) And my dd never wants to wear the long sleeves anyway. She says she gets too hot. I have found them at the Danskin outlet also. I ordered one directly from the company that makes the ones they sell in the gym(can't remember their name right now- starts with a S) but it really wasn't much cheaper than they were selling it in the gym(I guess they get volume discounts.)

I usually get my DDs at a dance store, we also have a Danskin outlet near by.

We have gotten grips and other things from Ten-O.... Here are thier leotards:

Good Luck.

Go to a dance store. I have tried all the cheaper brands and finally learned a lesson. DD is wearing the same one for the second year and it is showing no signs of wear. Especially with tights I have noticed a big difference. Walmart and Target would last maybe 3 or 4 classes! The good ones can actually last almost the whole year.

I agree that dance stores have the best quality, but the ones by us are pretty pricey. I have occasionally seen decent ones at Mervyn's if you have one by you.

I got my daughters at Walmart. I think it was $9.00. Long sleeve and black. It is holding up fine.

For a class that is once a week and only 45 minute I am not going to pay the expensive prices of a dance store.

I buy them from the GK website. They aren't cheap, but the selection is great.

A lot of girls at my daughter's gym like Rebecca's Mom leotards. She has a website and I believe she also sells on E-bay. Here's the link:

Also, I have purchased some great GK leos on e-bay that are new with tags for $9-10. So check out E-bay as well. :flower:

Alpha Factor is where I used to get all of mine when I competed- they supply USA Gymnastics with their team uniforms, and most Olympians wear their stuff.

They are based in my hometown of York, PA, so they had an outlet store there with great prices, so I would buy practice leotards there, but our team also purchased our uniforms through them.

Check at your gym if there is not a "hand me down" program for leos. Team usually has one long sleeve leo for competitions...and as girls outgrow these, they need to purchase new ones (and they ain't cheap at about $70 each)...since they are only used for competitions, they tend to not be very worn and I've bought my DDs last year team leos for about $20 from the smallest of previous team girls. She then wears them for practice/class and will probably hand them down to a new little girl next year.

I have bought quite a few leos on E-bay that were new with tags. I know that my dd's team long sleeve leos are $125. They sell the used ones for $70. My dd's both hate the long sleeve and I have never seen anyone wear one to practice.

These are the absolute best quality leos I have found for dd. http://www.look-it.com/index.html . I threw them in the washing machine. Half the time I threw them in the dryer also. Once she out grew them they still looked new, and I was able to sell them for a nice price on ebay. over the last 5 years I have probably purchased at least 30 leos from them and have always had great, fast service. My dd doesn't do gymnastics anymore but I plan to call and order some of their scrunchies. Both my dd and I love them.

THANK YOU everyone for all of the leads. I was shying away from spending alot but I think I may need too because the Target cotten ones I bought have faded & torn. I feel better ordering online now that you guys have recommened some of the sites I saw. :wave2:

Yep, I'd steer clear of the Target ones as well.
Some of the others can be pretty pricey - but sometimes you really do get what you pay for.

My friend used to own a kids store that had a dance/gymnastics section. She carried Alpha Factor/Aerials and GK Elite.
She said she felt like she really only made $$ on the moms who had to have the newest styles each season because the rest all just bought two or three leos and then kept them forever because they held up so well.
I'd say that might be a fair assessment based on some of the styles still around on e-bay. :rotfl:

My girls have been in gymnastics for ages and I'd probably go with either AF or GK as I've heard of very few problems (other than maybe sizing consistency) with those.
We have had pretty good luck with Rebecca's Mom, Snowflake, Motionwear and Look-it too - but have had one or two of these brands that were not great.

My favorite was when the girls all decided to wear speedo's to workouts for a couple of summers. They're expensive too, but at least they served a dual purpose.

The worst we had were one years' team leos that were supposedly very high end, custom made and over $120 each. Can't tell you how many of those were falling apart by the end of the season. Go figure!
