I've been off of these boards for over 4 years. I suffered a financial crisis and had to sell all my points. I am starting to get back on my feet and am toying with the idea of buying some cheap Vero Beach or Hitlon Head points and using them at the 7 month at GVC. I don't need to book at peak times. I know the maintenance fees can be high on these properties but they are so cheap. I don't think I need the 11 month booking window. But I'm not sure:confused3. I would appreciate everyone's opinions on this. Thanks in advance

Your completely flexible and could book right at 7 months? So far that's been possible to do quite a bit of the time. Studios do go first so if that is the size room your looking at it could be a little more difficult. Being able to go during the week would help too.

It's still going to be a bit of a risk though if you only intend to go to VGC and hearing that you're just getting back on your feet also would give me pause to at least wait. Personally for a majority or all stays at VGC I most likely would recommend buying VGC or else just plan on a neighboring hotel. Cash stays at a good neighbor hotel also gives much more flexibility.

If you are planning short visits during the week during the school year and not near any holiday weekends this may be a decent plan for you. Anything else and you are highly unlikely to regularly get what you want. You also must plan on booking at the 7 month window or just trying daily and seeing when it is open and taking that time.

Keep in mind that HH and Vero expire in 2042. VGC expires in 2060.

Since you are just starting to get back on your feet, have you considered points to visit? No long term commitment and you could rent points at 11 months or at least before the 7 month window opens - that would increase your chances of being able to go when you want, in the size villa you prefer.

While some have had success at 7 months, it is a small resort and we read many more reports of waitlists that don't come through for VGC than we do success stories. VGC seems to be one of the more difficult resorts to get at 7 months..

Good luck!
