Guys, I Want A Castle UPD 6/9 Trip Report Started

So, in a place like Disney, where until Starbucks comes to town, all we have is Nescrapee, where does one find the good coffee?

I love my coffee, but don't consider myself a snob! I'm probably in the minority here, but I really don't care for Starbucks coffee. (Now, a latte from there is another story! ;) ) I drink my coffee black, and I find it too bitter.

The two I was going to mention are ones you already had put on your list---Kona, over at the Poly, and Writer's Stop in DHS.

If you are at Disney the same time as me and see a crazy lady toting around a Nikon D60, say hello. It'll be me.

I'll be looking for you! :thumbsup2

I have to seriously apologize, how did I not see this before??!!! I'm sure I will be FB you to see when you want to hang out :) I LOVE ALL THE PLANS :)

We will have 3 day park hoppers, for Tues June 5 to Thurs June 7. On Tues and Wed, the students will be in Y.E.S. classes in the morning. I am hoping I will have the opportunity to go to both classes. Then we will have the rest of those days and all of Thursday free to go where we want to.

The YES program classes look like they are all awesome.

I'm not sure yet where the Y.E.S classes will take place- at least one is going to be at the MK, though.

Cool--we had one planned at Animal Kingdom last year. I wish that we could have made it to Disney, though.

I love your idea of a photo only (or mostly) TR. I love your captions too, so I'm hoping we will still see some of those! I think the TR board is fine for that.

Definitely, I will be captioning. Right now, my TRs are mostly like that anyway. I know I will be doing a full dining review, as well.

I will most certainly look for you the couple of days our trips overlap.

You'll recognize ME as the crazy lady surrounded by 8 boys who are all taller than me. Come over and say hi. Or, if you are smart, run away. FAST!

.

I'll come over, Dee, but forgive me as I laugh when I leave you with all of those 8th graders while I only have my one child. I'll try not to rub it in. :rolleyes1

Too be fair, I rarely order straight coffee from Starbucks, but when I order like a latte or a mocha or even a frap, I have 2 extra shots of espresso added in.

I'm going to have to do the Writer's Shop! I keep hearing (reading) about it.

I'll be looking for you! :thumbsup2

Good! It'll be great to see some fellow Disers.

It's okay, Megan! It would be nice to see you at Disney!

Now don't even think about ditching one more teen on me and think I won't notice!!!

BTW- have I mentioned that one of the rules is no alcohol for the chaperones? The folks over on the BC board are horrified about this!

Love the PTR creativeamanda! Just for a check on the coffee thing, check out easyWDW's latest posts on Animal Kingdom. I could be wrong, but I know at least some of the menu items now at the Royal Anadupar Tea Company are on the DDP now, so you can get that coffee fix with a snack credit! :hyper: Josh at easywdw posted this pick on his blog just a day or two ago:

Really looking forward to reading more from your PTR and Trip Report and can share your excitement as we both get ready to head to the World at around the same time! The idea for a photo report seems like a good one! :thumbsup2

Rats! I was planning on doing just that! :rotfl2:

 If anyone needs alcohol, it's you! Maybe I should try to slip you a Grey Goose Slush in a refillable mug. . .

OMG, you are my new hero! That is awesome news!

You are going have so much fun in June--I PROMISE!

This weekend, we have the pleasure of celebrating two teenagers:

This one:

And this one:

Yep, in the same weekend Sweetie becomes a teenager, we hit the teens in our countdown (prematurely moved to 18 because we don't really have 19 days left at 4:40 in the afternoon)

We've had some really big things going on this week. First of all, I have found a new running location, which is something I am always searching for. . .

b1cfed2b.jpg

A nearby town has a river run, and I am anxious to try it out, however, I have injured my knee, so it will be another week until I can. And also, since it's so desolate, I'm thinking buying mace and an air horn might be a good idea.

We found a teacher to replace me at my school. He has spent a couple of days with me and will spend some more next week. The kids love him, and that helps greatly.

Other than that, I have to finish up Sweetie's birthday present, which is her own trip notebook. Her birthday present this year is actually the Disney trip.

Yay for the teeny teenie club! We are staring two weeks right in the face ourselves!

Ready, ready, ready, ready, ready to go!!!!! :drive:

In the past few years, I have become addicted. . .

To coffee.

Good coffee.

One might call me a coffee snob.

Well, to be honest. I'll take that title. And admit it. I'm also famous around work for my most recent picture on Facebook:

ca53569f.jpg

I drank three of those on Wednesday morning.

Anyway, the going joke is that I need coffee to make the coffee. It's true.

So, in a place like Disney, where until Starbucks comes to town, all we have is Nescrapee, where does one find the good coffee? I've made my list, you all give me other ideas:

1. Swan/Dolphin: serve Starbucks. I will be making a trip there
2. Magic Kingdom: Main Street Bakery has decent coffee, as does Auntie Gravity. But the best is not on the DDP (or wasn't last time I went there). It's the coffee bar at the Ticket and Transportation Center.
3. Epcot: Moroccoo Coffee and Pastries, and all of the carts that sells Joffrey's coffee in Future World
4. Hollywood Studios: Starring Rolls. I hear Writer's Shop, too, but I get stuck with the cupcakes at Starring Rolls.
5. Animal Kingdom: Kusafiri, Safari Coffee, and Royal Anandapur Tea Company. The best coffee is at Royal Anandapur. It's also not on the DDP.
6. Resorts: Kona Cafe coffee bar, Boardwalk Joe's, Contemporary Grounds

I've got plenty of places to choose from, and I know these are must dos:
1. Swan--gotta have some Starbucks
2. Main Street Bakery
3. Any of the Joffrey's coffee stops
4. Starring Rolls
5. Kusafiri
6. Kona coffee and Contemporary Grounds

Hopefully with all of that coffee, I can stay up for late nights! :rotfl:

I see a pattern here....all the good coffee is NOT on the DDP. Who's surprised.

I also see a pattern in your picture. No, really. There's a hidden Mickey in the flowers on your chair, just above the mug.

:teeth:

(just found this PTR in your siggie....I'll be back tomorrow to catch up!!)

Not me.

I have never noticed that!

Glad to have you here, Legomom! :goodvibes

Since it's only my daughter and me, we've decided to take a non-TGM-like adventurous approach to the parks with a flair of nonplanning.

That's right, you heard me,

NON PLANNING

This is all in relation to my 2009 solo trip to Disney. I planned plenty.

And then went with the flow.

This is the loose plan, with plenty of room for improvement. I'm only listing the first park of the day, because we might go somewhere else or not. We don't know.

May 31--Arrival. Check in to POP Century. Monorail tour and Wishes from POLY.

June 1--Check in to Coronado Springs. Magic Kingdom

June 2--Epcot

June 3--Blizzard Beach

June 4--Animal Kingdom

June 5--Hollywood Studios

June 6--Magic Kingdom; check in at offsite resort

June 7--drive back to North Carolina

Our menus for the week have changed (even from my dining ptr, lol)--

Breakfasts:
Cinderella's Royal Table
Crystal Palace

Lunches:
Le Cellier

Dinners:
Narcoossee's
Fulton's
California Grill
Cape May
Yachtsman
Liberty Tree Tavern

We will be at POP the same time as you and I will be traveling with one teenager (DD17), Cant believe the trip is soooooooo close

Ahhh its getting closer and closer! :goodvibes Have you ever been to Yachstmans before? If not you are in a for a treat! Don't forget to post pictures of Sweetie's trip book, I'd love to see it.

Aside from the previously mentioned MK on the 1st, I see we also have the same DHS day. Well be rushing rope drop that day to get our little guy signed up for JTA and grabbing TSM fastpasses.

Have fun! It is exceptionally close!

I have been to Yachtsman. . .giving it another chance, as my first meal ever there was bad enough for Disney to comp the meal.

I am praying for a different experience.

I have a few changes to her book, so I will post when I get them in.

Good luck with JTA. We'll be doing the standby for TSM.

It's so close now!!!! I need to put the 31st on my calendar!!! I thought about having dinner at Capt Cooks tonight after my training and decided on Applebees instead..bad decision on my part!!!

Welcome to your teens, Sweetie and welcome to teen parenting, Amanda!

Actually, I found aged 12 to be worse than 13 for my son. The jury is still out on Ben, who turned 11 last Saturday. Which day was Sweetie's BD?

I can't believe your non-planned itinerary, but I may have you beat. I still don't know which parks we will be visiting on which days! I don't even know my flight info for the trip!

We have a parents meeting about our trip on Tuesday night so hopefully I will get more info then!

I love your lineup of meals, and I can't wait to hear all about them after you get back!

Ah, tween parenting! As the mother of 18 and 16 year old girls, I feel your pain! ;)

I'm starting to think of arriving and having dinner at Landscapes, since we are doing POP the first night. Then, I can do some good research on the bus situation for AoA and comparison between the Make your own pasta at AoA with POR.

You know, all for research. :)

Yeah, I'm starting to get a little concerned!

Ever heard that things happen in threes?

Or that whatever can go wrong, will go wrong?

That's how the past couple of weeks have been.

Two weeks ago, my email account gets hacked. It sends questionable material to my boss :crazy2:. I spend three hours fixing the mess that has been made.

Saturday: My bank account gets hacked. A full week fixing that mess. A friend of mine's mother is VP at a bank branch, clear across the country, but she fixed it all for me.

Tuesday afternoon: My 9yo's first trip to the Emergency room. My facebook post that night?

Wow. [Boo] picked a great way to start summer vacation: with a broken arm. — at McLeod Medical Center Dillon.

Yep. The daughter who is not going to Disney, falls outside, tries to catch herself, and breaks her left arm.

The night she comes back from the hospital. Poor tired baby

X-Ray the next morning at the orthopedist's office. If you look close to her wrist on the bone to the right (the radius), you'll see where the bone is buckled in a little. She caught herself falling. :(

Thumbs up for a pink cast

It has been, without a doubt, a week. Since things happen in threes, I think we are finished. Tomorrow, I have to go to the bank and set new PIN numbers for my new ATM/Debit Cards. Then, I have to finish packing.

Today was my last ever day as a teacher. When we finished the end of the year breakfast and program, I went back into my classroom stood there, turned off the lights, and had my own personal time.

I've taught special education for 16 years and I am moving into the district office. I don't want to ever forget those 16 years, though, because teachers and kids need me to remember myself as a teacher. It's been a hard week, and even harder day. Yesterday when I checked out with the principal, she said, "I'm not ready to tell you goodbye yet." I told her, "I'm not ready to say goodbye. So I'm not."

I need this trip coming up, but I could've used more days as a teacher this year.
