I'm trying to get ready for Christmas. (It's early I know, but this is a tough one). My BIL's are really difficult to figure out what to do for Christmas:eek: . We don't see them often (about 1 or 2 times a year). They aren't into sports.
I've already given them:

Car care kits: Complete with a bucket, window spray, car soap, tire cleaner, the whole 9 yeards.

Guys night in: Poker Set, beer, cheese, cheese cutter, salsa, hot pickles, chips, crackers, snacks...

Movie Nights: bought their fave new movie, filled a popcorn bucket, added popcorn, their favorite treats, a drink... the whole thing.

Now I'm stuck. We've been together for 9 years and I'm totally stuck this year! HELP!! :scared1:

Simple. Call their spouse and get tips on what they might like. I've been doing this for years for my SIL.

My wife does it for her for gifts for me.

That way you are more likely to get them something they want/need.

I've never known a guy that did not appreciate a very large summer sausage. Maybe that and a six pack of their favorite specialty beer?

What about lottery tickets, a gift card to movie theater, gift certs to local car wash place, emergency kit for car, a breakfast basket with pancake mix, waffle mix, real maple syrup, etc. That's about all I can think of now. HTH!

I'm liking the emergency car kit idea. An over all IN Case of Emergency kit might also be appropriate another year. GREAT ideas!!!

I have given my son-in-law magazine subscriptions along with items that relate. For example, his degree is in horticulture and he owns a wholesale nursery. I have given him one year of a trade magazine along with items he can use in his home garden. Another year I gave him Sports Illustrated and some duck decoys.

I gave my DH beer with personalized labels one year while we were dating. If you google personalized beer, a lot come up. I think I might have used Saranac, but I honestly don't remember where I got it from. It looked pretty cool though. He liked it.

Not for family but for those 'Bring a gift for the exchange' parties I've brought thermos/insulated mug sets & they always get stolen numerous times. They're usually about $10 for the set.

My DH is really hard to buy for. I think his favorite gifts have been DVDs of his favorite discovery channel shows- Dirty Jobs, Mythbusters, Deadliest Catch- any kind of flashlight/gadget, duct tape and lottery tickets for stocking stuffers, and since he's a computer geek, anything from thinkgeek.com

For his Yankee Swap at work last year, I had hubby bring in a travel coffee mug with a Starbucks gift card. It was apparently a big hit too.

I've done the "Movie Night in a Box" for family and the Yankee Swap before, but instead of movie tickets we actually put in DVD's. I do like the idea of a Box Sets too.

A gift I give my husband each Christmas:

Sort of our version of "drinking around the World"...:goodvibes
(since we never actually made it all the way around Epcot's countries to enjoy an *adult* beverage at each one...we start at France and don't make it past Italy - I know, we're lightweights!)

Anyway, I package up a basket/box/whatever of imported and unusual single bottles of beer from all over the world. Sometimes, it's six and sometimes it's a dozen or more. The types vary each year, along with the quantity - depending upon my budget. I start buying them in the fall and sock them away. He enjoys them - they last for a while - and there's always a surprise hit in the bunch. Remember to buy them warm, store them warm (I store them in the basement), gift them warm - then the recipient can chill them whenever.

Good luck - it is fun to Xmas shop early! It seems to extend the season somehow and is so much easier on the budget!!! Plus - no lines, and no crazy parking lots!!!
