when I heard the Guy Fieri was going to be involved in any way with the new Planet Hollywood, it only confirmed a hatred for the place that has been an enduring one since my honeymoon in 1996!!...good to see they went for consistency!

Never ate at WDW Planet Hollywood (eaten @ other ones, and find all large chains pretty much the same, which can be positive or negative), and never eaten @ at Guy Fieri establishment, but I do love the show "Triple D", and think he seems pretty cool, and down to earth. But I do sense some "not so much love" for him - would anybody who feels that way like to explain to me why? I'm serious - trying to find out what people don't like about him.

@SorcererHeidi i think the view of his actual cooking/food is not so high - especially compared to other celebrity chefs

I have to say when I saw he is only doing the burgers and sandwiches I felt better and figured could be some fun/different options

Thanx @TheMaxRebo - Like I said, I've never had any of his food, as I have some other celebrity chefs, so had no idea why the dislike.

I have eaten at one of his restaurants in California and the food was bad. I was surprised because I enjoyed him on food network next star and his shows following his win. If you look at reviews for most of his establishments they tend to say the food it bad. Glad to hear his hamburger place on the ships has better food. I will wait for reviews after being disappointed before. Still enjoy triple D.

Also, I think people are down on him because he represents the "dumbing down" of Food Network which used to show high quality chefs cooking high end food but then got rid of people like Emeril Lagasse in favor of things like triple D and Works Cooks in America, etc.

Side note - if you read Anthony Bourdain's second book (Medium Raw) he just rips Guy Feiri left and right

Wow! Didn't know it was that bad - thanx all for the education!

This is such a blow to Disney Springs. I enjoy many of the places he visits in his show, but I can't stand him as a TV personality. His food seems very Applebee's worthy. Some people might see that as a good thing. I don't.

What I AM looking forward to is the exterior remodel as an observatory. Thats a great idea and think it will look great which works out because I never plan on eating there now with all of the other great options available.

Also, donkey sauce on everything.

Someone on the Community Board wrote about an encounter with him and said he was a jerk in real life.

I am with you on this. Guy Freiri is the punching bag of "celebrity" chefs. His Times Square restaurant was such a disaster, and he compounded it by handling it terribly.

Reimagining Planet Hollywood with a fresh new backstory was a great idea, but associating it with Guy Freiri is just woefully out of touch by Disney.

I can also relate. While I didn't engage him, he did come off as a jerk. We were on the same flight to Charleston (he filmed the early bird diner, glass onion, and tattooed moose. All really places that I love tainted with the graffitied face of Guy on the walls, now.). He had 2 largely built bodyguards at his side the whole time. He sat between them in the exit row and attempted to hide his face. At baggage claim, he took carts and barricaded himself in a circle of them while staring at his phone in what seemed a way to avoid contact with people. It was sad and funny at the same time.

I haven't had any of his food and I never cared to. He never did anything for me on his shows. He just seems more like a host than a chef to me. Anyone can stuff their face with the foods he tried on Triple D and make it look good. I agree with someone else, once they took Emeril off the Food Network I lost interest. I always wanted to go to one of Emeril's places after watching one of his shows.

I went to Planet Hollywood on my honeymoon in 1998. I wasn't impressed and never went back. I had no interest in going back even before hearing this news and even less desire to go back now. There are so many options at DTD now that you would need to really impress me to get me back in there.
