What do you think would happen if on Monday night, as George W. Bush addresses the Republican National Convention, God forbid, Gustav slams into New Orleans?

I sincerly hope this storm stays at sea....but if it does hit anywhere near New Orleans on Monday night, it will not be good for the convention.:confused3

I hope it stays at sea as well.

But the irony of the situation would be something else.

I certainly pray that the storm weakens somehow and the residents there are safe...but the timing with the Katrina anniversary is interesting...the republicans can reminice during their convention about how well they handled that one.....anyone remember "Heck of a job, Brownie!" ;)

I also think it's a little bit ironic since some people on the Christrian right were asking their followers to pray for rain for tonight in Denver so that Obama's speech will be rained out....looks like things may reverse and the RNC will be forced to talk itself up during a time when most of the nation will be remembering the abysmal response of the Bush Administration to the needs of the residents of New Orleans.

Well, since the convention is in MN, Bush will be safe and if need be can fly down there for his photo opp's.

There, I fixed it for you. :thumbsup2

Sorry, I don't get it. Could you elaborate?

Bingo - but the DIS socialists here presume the federal government (which by the way is currently being primarily managed by a do-nothing Democratic Congress that Americans have given some of the lowest satisfaction numbers in history) is responsible fo everything. How dare local politicians (particularly if they are Democrats) ever get blamed...

And isn't it just like liberals to pray for disaster for political reasons.

I agree about the 'if...George W. Bush addresses the Republican National Convention, God forbid' part.

This would not be a good thing, but the effects on the GOP convention would be the least of our worries.

Does anyone think the Governor and Mayor are more prepared this time around?

If we have reason to think they aren't up to the task, then what? Should the feds step in, before the storm, and take over the evacuation?

What about the people who refuse to evacuate? Should they be forced to leave their homes, if necessary?

I don't hink Jindal will drop the ball on this one. As for Nagin (is he still mayor?), who knows?

Which poster was praying for a disaster?

And you should read the Project for a New American Century by the neo-conservative movement, the one running the White House right now, that said their plans could be best implemented if there was another "Pearl Harbor" type attack on the nation.

Who gets off praying for disasters?

I don't know about the Mayor, but I did read that Jindal has already declared a state of emergency and called out the national guard. They also have plans in place for evacuation, instead of trying to heard people into the superdome.

I guess I missed the part where ANY POSTER intimated anything other than their hope that the storm stays at sea????

Can you show me?

I'm still awaiting elboration from OP on how a possible hurricane hit would be good for the convention. Color me confused.

Actually he said it wouldn't be good.
It's just the irony of George Bush addressing the convention at the same time the New Orleans area was getting hit by another hurricane.
