Don't order a sandwich at the Gurgling Suitcase. I did and I would rate the sandwich as pathetic. When I ordered my chicken salad sandwich I asked what kind of bread would you be putting it on, she said a croissant. I said fine. Well moments later I was handed a plastic container with my sandwich in it. I signed for it and took it over to the table to eat it. Was I shocked!! The container was stone cold and in it was a croissant wrapped and seperately in another container was the chicken salad. Both were pre-made and wrapped and put in a refrigerator long before I ordered it. This is suppose to be a resort not a public beach or the army out on manurvers somewhere in some far off land. I have never seen anything this bad in all my days at any resort anywhere. It was pathetic. Not even on an airplane does food get this bad. I tell you, it really made me wonder what is going on at OKW for this type of thing to happen. If any other resort had done this I would expect them to be out of business in short order, it is just an insult to serve food in this manner at a resort. I still can not believe it.

Ok, I am missing the last part ... what did you do about this unsatifactory food? Did you talk to a food & beverage manager? Did you ask for a freshly made sandwich or something different? Did you ask for a refund? I agree that what you describe is not appealing whatsoever.

The pool bar at BWV--Leaping Libations also has the sandwiches pre made. I think this is because they are bars and do not have the facilities to prepare food. I agree the sandwiches are not very appealing that is why we always go out to the boardwalk and grab something from one of the carts or Spoodles take out window and bring it back to the pool.

I did nothing about the food because it took the girl a good 5 minutes to ring up the sale in the first place. To credit my account for the transaction would have taken an act of Congress which I would never go through. I ate a small portion of the sandwich. My time is more important then what it would take to undue any of this situation. For the $7.00 it just is not worth the trouble that it would involve. By the way this was the little place next to theGurgling Suitcase. I am on vacation down there. I try to avoid any situations like would have been created by trying to correct anything. Besides do you really think they care about what we think, this is WDW. I also had some probems with my room, minor but nevertheless I am not about to go through any hassle. Sorry, maybe if no one buys any sandwiches in the future they will get the idea, but I doubt it.

I had a cheesburger at Goods to Go and, though it took a long while, the food was good. My wife had a salad and that was also good. I consider all of the counter service restaurants, regardless of location, to be comparable to amusement park/stadium type restaurants. With these expectations, I am rarely disappointed. I have much higher expectations for places like Olivia's and I have not been disappointed with Olivia's either. Sorry you had a bad experience.

But if you don't try to correct any of the problems, they just get passed on to the next guest, if you have a complaint, you should make it known, especially if you had room complaints.

Goods to Go has pretty good burgers and salads. They're "pre-made" sandwiches are about the same as those at other on-site resort snack bars. Your complaint should have been addressed at the snack bar, if you chose not to "bother" with it then, it really isn't fair to complain now.

I have to admit, I made it a point to bring up issues about the room and any other problems we had when we were at Hilton Head this past summer - and I intend to when we visit any of the DVC resorts in WDW as well. Most of the problems I sent in a letter to the resort manager, others had to be addressed at the time. But I feel that since I am a DVC owner, it is my responsability to bring issues that I find up with the resort/DVD - if I don't, then how will they get fixed? Especially since, in effect, as I am an owner, I am their boss. If they don't get feedback from people who don't think it'll change because "It's WDW", then nothing will change because they'll think everything's OK. The more owner/renter/guest feedback they get, the more the chances that something will be done.

Some of the problems I brought up in my letter to the resort were little things about the room that Mousekeeping wouldn't normally encounter in their day-to-day job, so if someone doesn't complain, then Maintenance will never know to fix it. And I have to admit - every Maintenance CM I met at Hilton Head was *superb*. I really think they do value our feedback, and I know that they do address room issues if brought to their attention.

Mur!

So sorry that you had a bad experience at the Suitcase. It might still be worth firing off a letter to DVC to let them know about your dissatisfaction. When we visited the Hilton Head DVC resort several years ago, we encountered quite a few things that we felt were not up to DVC standards. We documented the elements that we thought were "bad show" on the comment card that they used to leave in the units. A couple of months later, my wife received a phone call from HH and spent 30 minutes on the phone discussing the issues that we had brought up. We were not looking for compensation for our visit. We simply wanted the resort to improve and we thought that our feedback could help. A year later, we returned to the resort, not as guests, but just dropping by. After our first visit to HH, my wife swore that we'd never stay there again, so we had a room at the Days Inn in Hardeeville. Anyway, we were pleasantly surprised by the changes that HH had made in just one year. A lot of what we had observed the year before had been addressed. We felt like our comments had made a difference.

So I'll climb down off my soapbox and close saying that I truly believe that DVC listens and cares and that feedback both positive and negative does have an effect.

Well, I have to tell you that I was just trying to warn furture guests about the sandwiches at "Food to Go" . If you find them acceptable what can I say, this is suppose to be a resort not a ball park. At any rate they will never see me again as far as a sandwich is concerned. As far as writing letters or calling or complaining in anyway, forget it, it is not worth the time to me. I did my complaining down there years ago about more serious concerns, now I just try not to get too upset when these type of things happen. I was in such a good mood just being there in that weather compared to what we have up here in CT that very little would bother me anyway.

Point well taken. I hope that I wasn't too preachy. It's a bad habit that I picked up from my dad (who is a retired United Methodist minister).

Undoubtibly this thread will get back to DVC management. Whether or not they do anything about it is another matter.

Thanks for the info. Like Doctor P, I'll stick to the hamburgers at Goods To Go.

sorry about your bad food time.

do you have a car? if you do POR is just a short drive away and I really like their food court.

I quit OKW snack bar a long time ago.

Yes I complainted but something about having to make the food in advance so your wait time won't be so long.

If you go to the hamburger section at POR - they made it in front of you - they chicken strips are made in advance so don't get them even at POR.

Pam, it's no different than going to eat at an All Star food court then, where they have pre-prepared plates like salads and sandwiches, it's a cost savings ploy on Disney's part, they can have prepared by some catering unit and shipped to any resort to sell us captive prisoners.

Another reason to have a full kitchen unit.

We have eaten at Goods to Go, if that is the one right on the marina side next to the pool, on two occasions. The first time, we had hot dogs and they were really good. The second time we had burgers, and I have to say it was one of the worst burgers I had ever eaten in my life, dry and tasteless. Did we complain or do anything about it, yes and no. We did not complain because it was late and we were just checking in, but what we did about it was to resolve to never eat there again.

I disagree...it is not a point well taken. If you have the time to expound on your experience here then you should take the time to do it the proper way where it counts. People have the illusion that what is posted here really matters where management is concerned. Surely, they don't have the time to go through this and the many other places that address DVC issues.

Thanks for sharing your information, however that is simply what it is. Just information.

We have been members at OKW since 1995 and have learned...sometimes the hard way...what and what not to order at Goods to Go.

We have learned that you need to be quite specific when ordering...burger medium, bun toasted, etc. If the fries aren't hot, take them back!

Quite often we order off Olivia's menu. We find Olivia's burgers and Caesar salad to be quite good.

... Where can you order a chick salad sandwich that isn't pre-made ? Do you think when you order one, they real quick, whip up a sandwich sized portion of chicken salad just for you ? Normal procedure is to make an estimated days worth,in a vat, and scope it out as needed. It's also common to offer a to-go platter with the salad on the side so you can build the sandwich as you please. Now,this isn't to say that this platter shouldn't be of the highest Disney standards, but I can't see getting bent out of shape because it was pre-made. The Suitcase is considered "fast food" after all.

Here's Olivia's lunch menu. I'd strongly recommend ordering off this menu if you're not happy with the 'fast fare' on the Goods to Go or Gurgling Suitcase menus.

I for one do think they care about what we think. The guests are the ones that keep them in business.

As someone else stated, if you have the time to complain on the boards, you should have time to write a letter. Also, if you're not going to do anything about it and try to change a situation, then why take the time to complain.

I have never been impressed with any of the WDW food. My opinion is that it's mediocre at best, so I wouldn't have been real surprised by this. Of course, I don't go to WDW for the food though.
