I agree. My school has a shooting team, and a freshman has a gun license and quite a few guns at home that belong to him. It's crazy.![]()
I'm completely opposed to guns. First off, i'm opposed to killing. Second, i oppose hunting. and what good do guns do? they do much more harm then good.
Quoted for truth.I don't think guns are bad, but we tend to use them at inappropriate times.
I also have mixed feelings. I think there should be stricter regulations on who should have guns. But that goes against our constitution in a way. :/
I am on my schools "shooting" team. We use a simulater, that has a real gun that was made specifically for this machine. Like they took a real gun, made it so it could not shoot bullets, then put a laser inside. So it feels, looks, handles exactly like a real gun, just no bullets. I am part of a Criminal Justice Academy, and only put on the team because I tried out on a whim and got one of the highest scores.![]()
But honestly I think with proper education on guns they are not AS bad as everyone makes them out to be. Its when they end up in the wrong hands that cause problems. Usually with very scary and sad outcomes.![]()
I'm against guns. We have enough knife crime in the UK already. Don't want to add guns too.
Just copying and pasting this from some Newsround thing I found.
"Why do so many people in the USA have guns?
It is very easy to buy a gun in the USA. You must be 18 or over. When you buy a gun from a registered dealer, you have computerised background check. This only takes a few minutes.
If you buy a gun from a "private collector" (anyone who is not a registered dealer), you don't need to be checked. This effectively means anyone over 18 can get a gun.
The American Constitution, which sets out the country's rights and freedoms, says people are allowed to "keep and bear arms."
This makes it very hard to make laws limiting the way guns are bought and sold.
Is it any different in the UK?
It is much more difficult to get a gun in the UK. It is completely illegal to own a handgun unless you can proove you use it to kill vermin like rats, or it is an antique type gun.
You need a licence to buy a gun. Depending on what type of gun you want, you need to do different things to get a licence.
You need to prove you will store your gun properly, and give the police lots of information about yourself, including your medical records.
You also need to get two people to say to the police that they think you are a good person to own a gun."
If police officers didn't have guns, what form of protection could they have that's as effective?
police officers, and police officers only should have guns.
I don't really agree with that.
IMO-Police officers, and those with gun licenses (after being screened) should be allowed to have guns.
