Guidebook?

I have read lots of threads and have seen getting a good guidebook mentioned multiple times...my question is what is a good one to pick up? I'm planning on getting one this weekend.

I love my "Unofficial Guide 2009" because it is SO detailed and also come with access to touringplans.com. I hear others talk about Passporter's because of it's planning pages. Take a trip to the store and see which one appeals to you the most

Another vote for unofficial guide. Neither of us had been to disney since we were kids so I got the 2007 version before our honeymoon and was in planning heaven the whole time I was reading it. It even went in our carry on in the plane!

The Unofficial guide is the most comprehensive and I really got alot of great info from it. I also have the Passporter and I like it well enough. I bought that one for the journal aspects more than anything. I thought we could keep all of our travel info in one place and also keep track of our days once there.

Before I bought them, I went to the travel section of the library and took out every Disney travel book they had. It really gave me time to peruse them and make an informed decision. Then I bought the ones I liked.

Why didn't I ever think about going to the library?? DUH!!

Sounds like something good to do over lunch tomorrow since I work right around the corner from our main branch.

I am also going to check out the unofficial guide and passporters....thanks for the suggestions!!

I LOVE guidebooks and have read many extensively. My choices would be as follows:

#1) The Unofficial guide has the most information and very comprehensive reviews of Disney restaurants, hotels and theme parks. This book also has really great touring plans that the other two books do not offer.

#2)The Passporter guide is good for organization but the reviews are a little more biased because the book is written by a single family - albeit one who travels to Disney a great deal. Really nice planning features like pockets for tickets etc.

#3)If you want a good overview of what Disney has to offer then you should try the Official Guide to Walt Disney World. It is a "warm and fuzzy" gloss over of hotels, rides and attractions. This book has the nicest pictures and is a good one to share with your children (if you have any).

Unofficial Guide gets my vote.

I do get a Passporter for my daughter sometimes..she likes to use it like a diary.

But UG has the most information, IMO.

I bought a PassPorter's and promply mailed it to a cousin. Just not for me. Many people here love it so I always recommend it when asked. I always buy the newest Unofficial Guide before every trip.
Now, if 800 pages of delicious Disney detail does not sound like glorious fun to you (to me it's bliss! ), you may want to take a look at Birnbaum's guide to Disney. That's very informative without being overkill.

Thank you guys so much, I went to the bookstore and picked up a copy of the Unofficial Guide, now I can't wait to get started reading it!!!
