Guide said we had to wait til Tues to "verify" add-on availability

I called our guide early Friday to add-on 30 BWV points. He checked the computer and was surprised to find 36 BWV points in our use year. I said we wanted 30 of them and he said ok, but that we would have to wait until it could be verified that those points were available. In my excitement over the points being there, I forgot to ask him why. So, does anyone know why, if the computer shows that the points are available that we would have to wait until Tuesday to verify that same information?? Then, what are the computers for?? This is our first add-on, so we have no idea what to expect.
 
Not exactly sure, but here is my guess.

I did the same thing last week. Was told repeatedly that there are points in my use year for VWL, but he stressed that "There is a new list (of points available) every day" and that "we had to be put on the list and the list verified". He stated we should get a call early next week. I'm supposing that the list that the sales dept gets is what is available as of that morning. Sales does not know what has been requested to be bought (sales in the queue). Thats why the verification, they need to match up requested vs available.

I believe you go on a waitlist and they go first come first serve. So, until the back office points counters do their thing, we wait. Remember, the sales people will agree to anything :confused3.
 
We called on Thursday and there were 600 points available at VWL for our UY. Called back Friday, still available and purchased 150 cash and told we should get a call back Saturday or Monday to confirm our purchase. I think it is as previously stated: the back office has to run the credit cards or credit checks, etc, and then first come, first serve. We noticed that our account was showing pending credit on Saturday night, so I believe we have our requested add-on and expect the confirmation on Monday.

Looking forward to making our reservation for Christmas!!!!

Well, you were probably both right. As it turns out, I called member services yesterday (Monday) to check on availability for a few days in May. I told the CM that I wasn't going to make the reservation yet, as I did not have the points until Tuesday, but that I needed to know if there was availability so that my husband could request the time off. The CM said, "You have 30 points available right now!" So, I guess our add-on went through, and a day early, at that. I guess the guides have to prepare you for not getting it, just in case there is someone who jumps in line right before you. Anyway, who cares???!!! We've got more points to play with!!! :cheer2: :cheer2:
 

I checked my account on the member website under MY DVC and my additional 70 points are there. So, I guess I can use mine also. Have not heard from my guide or received paperwork yet.

At sold out resorts it was $92 (which includes all closing costs, etc). I think they may have gone up to $95 as of 4/1.
 
luvthedis - just curious - what is your use year? I am waiting for an add-on at BWV and wonder if I should call my guide?
 
labst60 -- We have an October use year. Our guide seemed really surprised that there was something available for us. I guess things change on a daily basis. Good luck! :tink:
