Guests uning quick service restaurant tables

Remember these people sitting at the tables have paid to be there just like you have. I do think it is rude to use a table if you don't need it, but then again if somebody wants to sit at a table shooting the breeze instead of taking up a seat on a ride that should be their option. If you cannot find a table complain to your host, Disney.

I don't think your argument holds any water. You don't walk into a McDonalds restaurant and occupy a table just to sit and pass the time of day with your buddies. A CS restaurant at WDW is just the same. If you just want to sit and shoot the breeze, do it outside. Plenty of places to sit out there.

I have to say that I am going to have to take the other side on this one. If guests want to occupie a table while not eating and there are no tables for other guests to eat at then this is Disney's fault. It is not other guests responsibility to make accommodations for me it is Disney's. I am not paying another guest almost a hundred dollars to go to the park I am paying that money to Disney. If more tables are needed then disney should provide those tables to their guests. Every guest sitting at a table is a guest not standing in line at tsm or btr etc. if people are tired and need a place to sit then It is Disney's responsibility to do something about it. It would be impossible for Disney to have a table and seating always available for every guest. Impossible! I don't think it is too much to ask our fellow human beings to be kind to each other, and to let someone who has a tray full of food have a seat.

That is part of what is so wrong now a days. Everything is always someone else's fault, and not the fault of the individual. No one thinks they need to step up and be nice, or help out their fellow man. Someone else should do it.:sad2:

Im on the fence for this one. I have only gone to disney during off peak times. I also always travel with my whole family, plus a few extras (boyfriends/girlfriends/cousins/grandparents/friends) my family alone makes 7. I guess since we're such a large family, we have always saved seats. And yes, we have even saved two tables. (Last trip there was 11 of us, but we sometimes didn't eat together as we broke into smaller groups and did different things) I have never thought it as inconsiderate only because we go during late January and usually have a sense not to eat during the lunch rush so there are always empty tables around.

I don't really have a point to this post because I know some of y'all are always going to frown upon saving seats even when we're going off peak season during off peak eating times.

Although I can't relate to some of the PP who can't save seats due to being solo travelers or single parents with young kids, I do now see the other end of the argument.

But now that this has been brought to my attention, I guess my next visit I will be more aware of this situation. also, thanks to the dis I realized im not spreading much pixie dust, which I am now kicking myself for. (I love making others happy, but my last visit I was so grumpy because of things out of my control. I had chances to spread some dust and I never realized it. My next trip I would like to focus more on spreading the dust!) thanks dis!

My family and I have met some very nice folks by offering to share table space. If you've never seen the look of relief on some poor soul walking around with food/drink during the F&W Festival when you offer them a small chunk of table real estate you're missing out! I'll never understand why WDW doesn't put out more standing tables during the festival. My family and I have had some great conversations with folks by sharing our table. I remember one couple that my son and I chatted with at Epcot. They'd been there for a month and had all kinds of stories to tell. While I do think there are some folks who are just plain rude, I think a majority of folks are just oblivious because they're so wrapped up in their enjoyment and just don't notice/recognize the situation. Of course there's nothing wrong with giving those same folks a gentle nudge by asking them to share or whatnot.

I love doing this. If I see a small group at a large table, I have no issue asking to use the other end of the table. Obviously you can kinda "read" people who may be really put off by this, but most of the people I've shared a table with at Disney have been awesome :thumbsup2 A lot of times it'll just be my mother and I at Disney, so we're always happy to snag the 2 or 3 person group who are searching for a table at a QSFB to share with us.

I disagree. There are more than enough tables in almost every CS restaurant to accommodate every single guest with purchased food even at the busiest times of Fay at the busiest times of year. My proof? Whenever CMs control the seating, there are tables available for each qualifying party the instant they need tables.

And truly, where would you suggest WDW put "extra" tables?

Is it posted anywhere at Disney that you are not allowed to sit down at a CS until you have food in your hand?

I had no idea we were violating a rule all these years.

I see nothing wrong with saving a seat. Its not rude. Disney should have more seating available during peak times. I feel bad that people have to stand with a tray of food but thats not my fault. If we didn't save a seat the only difference would be that i would be standing instead of someone else. The fault lies with Disney. I would complain to them and request more seating.

I'm sure that all the people claiming its rude to be seated before you have food always have their entire party wait to be seated at their local McDonalds until the Big Macs and fries are ready to go.

This is a ridiculous argument. I have never seen people stand at a local fast food restaurant until their order is ready. Why is Disney any different?

When and where that it IS a rule, there will be a Disney CM in charge of the seating area,
who will inform guests and assist in the restricted seating at that time.
(And, that changes with the date and location based on crowd levels.)

Otherwise, it's just regular open seating.
Choose as you like, and just be courteous.

It is rude. There are signs. There are CM standing next to the signs. They will tell you if it is not okay to sit.

I also wait at MCdonalds until we have our food to sit. I also do not walk in to McDonalds, not order anything and take a seat ever. Especially NOT during their busy time.

I'm pretty sure no one here would do that either.

It is not violating any rule expect for what some people "perceive" as being right. The only time Disney has any "rule" about it is during peak times where they set up CMs to direct people who already have food to open tables.

And really, where do you expect Disney to put more seating? Most locations are already packed as close as is possible with tables and chairs.

Thanks for the quick reply. I was beginning to think i missed a sign posted all over Disney with instructions on when its appropriate to seat myself at a restaurant.

I find that extremely hard to believe.

Really?????

We don't at often - but we usually will wander over to fill our drinks and our food is ready by then. If there is a playground one of us MAY take the girls to play there for a minute - but it rarely takes more the a couple minutes and we wait and then Get a table. We've never had a problem either.

If it is a place they give you a pager (like fuddruckers) we go sit. Certainly not Mcdonalds.

What's confusing? We wait to sit with food. period. Unless it is a get a table and we will bring the food to you situatuon.

Even at McDonalds.

You find that hard to believe - I find it hard to believe the wait is so long you can't stand there at the register and wait.

I have been to Disney over 20 times on vacation. I have never seen a posted rule or had a cm tell me to wait until my food is ready to be seated.

So why do I need to wait by the register?
