We have all seen Travel Agents and such on the ship prior to sailing, and then an announcement is made that they have to leave as we are sailing soon! Years ago I remember our parents spending the afternoon on ship with us prior to sailing. That was in the 90's and prior to many of the new security procedures being put in place.
We booked B2B cruises on the Dream for this April back in 2009. At that time it was the four of us - Mom, Dad and 2 kids. Fast forward to 2011 and Dad has new job and now only able to be with us for the first B2B which is the 3 night. My sister will take his place for the 4 night.
Dad does not have a flight home until that evening. What do you think the chances are that he can stay on ship with us until we depart? It is so sad that he is not continuing on with us and it would be so nice for him and for us!:idea: I am thinking I would need to ask someone pretty high up once on the ship.
My thinking is that it must be possible as travel agents and media get to do this so security laws will not be broken. He doesn't have to eat anything if that is a concern. He can stop somewhere on the way back to the airport.
So, have any of you ever had any experience with this? Do you think we have a chance to have him stay with us until we sail as he was on the first part of the B2B?

I do not think they will allow this....I have never heard of this before. TA's do come on with special day passes but not sure they would let a passengers stay on until afternoon....but, can't hurt to ask! I honestly do not think eating would come into play at all for their decision....I think it is more security.

When you do a B2B, you actually have to disembark the ship and then go through the check-in process again for the second cruise. I think the issue may come down to your Dad not having a confirmed reservation for the second cruise. But, I wish you luck and pixie dust in trying to get it worked out!

In 2006, we were able to be on a Carnival ship for my sister-in-law's wedding and reception. Then those of us not going on the cruise, had to get off of the ship.
