Guest services desk on arrival

Howdy! How crazy is the guest service desk on arrival? We really want to get some of the ships tours like the galley and others. We want to sign up for a Palo, too. Is it really really crazy? What are our chances? Advice for first timers, please. Cheers!

You can book Palo online before you cruise.

It ebbs and flows. If it's like 10 people I just go and wait. It's usually worse later on.

Some things to consider.

Certain things (Princess Meet and Greet, Palo, etc.) can be booked ahead of time.

Other things (Changing Dining to early or late seating, Spa Treatments, Alcohol Tastings) can be done on board at specific locations other than Guest Services. It will say exactly where in your Navigator, when you first get to the Port.

Also, Guest Services is really only crowded for a few hours that first day and and then on the final evening/morning. The rest of the time the line is REALLY short. (Like a person or two). Plus, it is staffed 24 hours a day.

So anything you can hold off on and not go to Guest Services that first few hours, I'd suggest waiting.

But if you really need to do it, the line does go pretty fast. While you are in line, you can still soak in the atmosphere. Just resolve yourself to the wait.

Correct, you do not book Palo at Guest Services. You will book Palo either online before your cruise or if you can't get a reservation beforehand, you can go to the designated area onboard on embarkation day and see if any spots are available.

We have always had good luck getting Palo on embarkation day.

You can do it at any time. We find it much less busy early in the morning, or late at night. But, anytime you're passing by, if there's no line, that's a good time.

Busiest times are embarkation day, and before dinner seatings.

So alcohol tastings will be available to book on the first day? I will be on the EBTA in May and would like to do one. My daughter was no fun and wouldn't do one on the Wonder in December

Yes. The Navigator will tell you if you have to go to a specific place. We find that the Fantasy and Dream usually have you go to one of the lounges but on the Magic (haven't been on the Wonder for 17 years) we just go to Guest Services as soon as we drop off our bags in our room and see what's available and when.
